I don't expect business class but yes am used to travel in Volvos and Scanias which are decent.[/QUOTE]The Buses they use aren't the many I have seen with fancy lights and decals all over outside that carry the Asians on large tours but they are decent that the aircon works, basic bathrrom and clean. Sometimes I have gotten a seat where it didn't recline? But mostly, the ride has been safe that I didn't get a driver that I felt I might have to jump in and take over.

If you want a little extra room, just buy two tickets. Well worth the extra 200 baht to have two seats to yourself.

I have stayed in Pattaya at the Marriott (3x) , the Tim Boutique, and the Areca. Now I want to branch out a little and stay on Jomtien. There is a more relaxed laid back vibe to the place and yet it is easy to go to Pattaya whenever you want. Best of both worlds? I will have to find out.

You will not regret Jomtien Beach Penthouses. Very nice place, well appointed, clean and new. The owner / manager is Danish.

Has been very long since I went to Pattaya. I am coming back next month. Would appreciate views and feedback from experienced mongers who have stayed near Walking Street. The budget is around 1000-1200 baht inclusive of taxes I don't need bfast. Please let me have your suggestions for good comfortable hotels, their room quality, girl policy, special tips for choosing a room in that hotel and distance from nearest pick up points or gogo bars!

You may get on and there are no two open seats together. Or if you have already sat where there are two open seats together someone may get on after and want to sit in the open one next to you. HL it is just a regular ass bus with a stinky bathroom. But you are only going to be on it for an hour if you are going to the airport. At least 2 hours if you are going to Sukhumvit.

There are also vans to Bangkok that leave from the temple every 15 minutes. They are 100 baht. If you don't speak or read Thai then good luck with that. (The vans do not have western script written on them and I seriously doubt the people who drive them speak English.) A girl came to see me from Bangkok and she even had a hard time. She bought the ticket somewhere in Bangkok then had to call the phone number because she didn't understand what to do as far as where she was supposed to wait for the van.

I would rather stick to bus than the van just to ensure I reach without being lost! The bus seems a good option for going to Pattaya from the airport and while returning I might just get a taxi! We are 6-8 in a group going for a friends bachelors so we would just check if a van is available to travel together if not then the bus it is!

Don't want to sound like a shill, but Agoda has got some pretty aggressive pricing on the Furama Jomtien Beach hotel. Stayed there last year. While the downside is the baht bus ride into town, a good 25 minutes, the location is quiet and the balconies overlooking the ocean make it quite relaxing. I'm not looking forward to the Asian tour groups and the Russians, though.

The price, with breakfast for 2 (decent enough buffet; not as good as the Hard Rock's) was US $37 per night for mid-June. I paid $55 last year and thought that that wasn't a bad deal.
If you're looking at Jomtien, consider this place.

There is actually a funny story I can tell. I stayed there with my Thai girl friend (so no need to find working girls) and she noticed that one of the guests brought two GFs to the swimming pool. So far so good. But when next morning these GFs left the building, she saw that one of them was wearing a school uniform (the usual high school uniform: white shirt and dark skirt) , which indicated that she might be very (too?) young. Since you do not have to pass through reception to go to your apartment, it is easy to bring in anyone you like. Some may like that facility, others may rather have some more security. This place is owned by a very well run group who own a few hotels around town and the last thing they would accept is a minor in a room.

Decided to try the Apex for a night. Took one of the bargain rooms for 650 baht which was located on the second floor. The room itself was dated and it and the fittings were in dire need of an update. You get aircon for this price I wouldn't say it was falling apart but that it soon will be. Room has the basics including a fridge stocked with reasonably priced beverages unless of course you prefer buying your drinks from a 7/11.

The main clientele seem to be men age 50 and above so if you're in this age bracket then it may suit you.

There is a swimming pool but it's nothing fancy but a lap pool.

Staff seem polite enough but distracted but the football.

There is a buffet dinner for about 250 baht but it's pretty sad looking with a mix of Thai and western dishes. There are better options around for that price. They also have a breakfast buffet for around 100 baht of unknown quality.

All in all a cheap option if you're looking for a place with a pool.

In the last days of the March I was in hunt to find a decent hotel in reasonable price. After a huge run finally I found Lek Hotel in 2nd road near soi 12. I was in a course to meet my TGF for the first time. And was in need to find a decent impressive hotel in economic price.

Apex is sounds good. But bro you did not mentioned where the hotel is located to give a try.
