I will be arriving at Thailand international airport in the middle of rush hour. Should arrive at3:30pm so I figure by the time I clear customers and get my bag, it will probably be closer to 4:30pm which is in the middle of rush hour. I was advised by some experienced travels not to take a taxi to Nana area during rush hour but to take the airport train.
Here is my question to the experts. I was advice to take Airport rail link train to Makkasan station. Then to take a taxi from there to Nana area. How easy would be to get a taxi during rush hour from Makkasan station and also about how much I should pay to get to Nana area?
Another guy thinks I should just take Airport link train to Phaya Thai, then transfer to the BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit line and take that to Nana.
Which way would be better in your opinion for traveling during rush hour? I do have a rolling luggage with me. Thanks

Which way would be better in your opinion for traveling during rush hour? I do have a rolling luggage with me. Thanks
Here are three options. (1) Take rail link to Makkasan Station and take a taxi from there to Nana. However, the taxis is going to be fighting traffic all the way to Sukhumvit and then down Sukhumvit to Nana. (2) Take airport link to Makkasan Station, take short walk to Phetchaburi MRT Station, take MRT to Sukhumvit Station, take short walk to BTS Asok Station, take BTS to Nana (one stop from Asoke). This is direct and avoids getting stuck in traffic riding a taxi; however, it requires two transfers (airport link to MRT to BTS). Of course you could take a taxi from the MRT Sukhumvit Station to Nana; it would be a very short ride. (3) Take rail link to last stop (Phaya Thai) take short walk to Phaya Thai BTS Station take BTS to Nana Station (five stops from Phaya Thai Station). This is indirect but avoids a taxis and involves one transfer. Personally, I prefer the third option.
Be aware, during rush hour MRT and especially BTS are heavily used. You'll be standing with your luggage a midst a crowd of people.

A lot of those guys taxi guys sitting at the Makkasan area are preying on tourists and not turning on the meter, charging an exorbitant fee. Just one easy exchange and you might even be lucky enough to cop a feel on some hot gal on the sky train LOL

I will take your advice and go with the BTS over taxi.

Thanks
You have spent ten hours on a 'plane, got through immigration and now want to lug your luggage to a station miles from probably where you want to go. And have to change stations to the BTS.
Yes, taxis are slow in the rush hour. I have done Nana to the airport in 40 minutes early on a Sunday morning. And taken two hours to Nana from the airport in the rush hour.
But just sit back and relax. You take an hour extra by taxi, possibly, but it is door o door and the MPs will still be open and the clubs just opening by the time you are ready to party.
Lso, you have just spent $750to get to BKK and you are worried about a $10 taxi fare. Think common sense.

Funny as well as informative that can be applied to Thai WG. The trade is pussy for wallet. No tears or anything, a fistful of dollars on the dresser will do nicely. It makes me wonder about who is the tougher sex. I think we men sometimes confuse sweet girls selling themselves for cash with some unconscious hope we can have it all, no strings sex with pretty young things, if only a selective brain transplant could replace the mercantile aspect. I guess that explains the suckers sending cash to WG who prey on this fatal weakness of the male species. The girl in the movie is brutally honest about men and women, smart as a whip and a certain attractive energy.
Anyway, I am too busy banging them and lining up the next one to worry about it. I am at Livingstons with two delightful young fillies watching them slowly fellate me in the mirror as I wake up. Life is good.

Think I will wait until their task is completed!
Which way would be better in your opinion for traveling during rush hour? I do have a rolling luggage with me. Thanks
Tony hit the nail on the head regarding taxis. One quoted me 200 baht for that same route that you need. So with rolling carryon sized bag plus my laptop I hired a motorbike taxi to Nana area. I think it was 60 baht. 5 minutes or less and really fun if you're not afraid of such an adventure. I'm a big fan of BTS but it will be jam packed then too.

I would still take the taxi from the airport. First of all you have never been there, so if you couple playing the lost tourist with the heat, you will probably wish you were sitting back in the air conditioner in some taxi instead of trying to find your way around the train stations with luggage. It's not like you will be the one driving and the cost won't be that much more in traffic. Keep it simple.
Not Shaharazad. Suk. 55.
Ah, gotcha. Yep, dishes are about 100 baht per at 55 and no prices on the menu. I quite like the minced pork and olives. We have never really had a bad meal there and have eaten there once a week for the last few years. Sorry you did not enjoy it.
