Pickin' up the Maids - A Guide
So, you've seen them around, walking in TST, Wan Chai, and Causeway Bay on the weekends, sometimes it seems like half of HK is Filipina and Indonesian. Every Sunday and public holiday, there they are, taking up space on the sidewalks, in McDonalds, KFC, anywhere there's an empty spot.
Only problem is, some of them are HOT. Makes you stop and take a second look, maybe even a third. And I'll tell you now, if they're not wearing one of those Indonesian half-burkas, they're probably looking back at you. The great part is, most of these girls can be had with minimal (although not zero) investment of time and money, and will generally perform quite well.
So what do you do about it? Well, I'm here to part with some of my recently obtained wisdom. Hopefully it can help some of my fellow hunters.
CAVEAT: I'm a young-ish gwei-lo (whitey). I can't tell you how well my places work for non-Caucasians, but I'd imagine if you're nice and speak decent English, you have a shot. I've seen firsthand that it DOES work for gwei-los of any age/physique. And I'm not talking about the 35-40 yr old mamas who you can meet on the webcam sites, these are early-to-mid 20s girls in their prime.
CAVEAT #2: This is only a report of where I've been and my personal methods. As with all reports, YMMV and if you've anything to add, please do!
Part I: The Places
-----------------
Wan Chai
Obviously, this is the place to go for your standard pick-up. Yes, there are a number of freelancers about on Sundays, but most of the women in New Makati, Laguna, and Neptune II are just domestic helpers who like to dance. Most of them are open to dancing with anyone as long as you don't jump up and try to grope and grind at first glance. I would avoid Fenwicks/Joe Bananas, unless you want the P4P on Sunday. The crowds usually start getting in around 3 or 4, but it varies on the day and the weather. Guaranteed, show up at 6 and they will be packed.
Pros: Lots of women in dance outfits, drinking and having a good time. Since they're not professionals, drinks for them are normal price. Also, if you're looking for a one-night stand, this is probably the best place to go. Easiest place to find a girl.
Cons: Most of these girls have been approached probably 5 times that day before you saw them, so they know the tricks; might be a bit tougher to seal the deal. Also, as with club girls anywhere, they will be more apt to gold-dig and play tricks. Finally, you might lose all of your work for a free lay when they turn out to be a P4P girl.
How to get there (for the newbies): At Wan Chai MTR, take the Lockhart Rd exit and look left when you get to the street; you can't miss the huge sign for New Makati. Laguna is a block farther down on the right corner, and Neptune is one street over, on Jaffe Rd, also with a big sign. Despite what the signs say, if you don't have a crew cut (US Navy), you don't have to pay a cover, ever. Tipping the bartender helps at New Makati; not so much at the other 2 places.
Causeway Bay - Victoria Park
Where the normal girls come out to play. A nice park with good facilities and lots of girls. I've seen this place mentioned on the forum as a good place to find the normal girls, but personally, it's not a favorite. I also noticed many more Indonesians than Filipinas, which is also evidenced by the number of Indonesian restaurants and markets around Causeway Bay.
Pros: LOTS of girls. The park is literally stuffed with them. Also a good number of locals here too (they have a model boat pool, which is a first for me), however I only saw a small number of gwei-los. You get a LOT of stares.
Cons: It's a very open park, not too many private places for conversation; you might feel as you're sticking out like a sore thumb, like I was, for the same reason as in the Pros section. Biggest con: a LOT of religious girls like to hang out here. Actually saw a few on the prayer rugs when I was there, and much more in the half-burka. Not exactly a good sign for the guy hoping to pick up.
How to get there: Causeway Bay MTR, follow the signs; hard to miss.
Central/Tsim Sha Tsui - The Public Areas
Filipina headquarters. So much so that there are special ads in Tagalog put up for the day, salespeople handing out Tagalog flyers, and official signs for "Do not Litter" in English, Chinese, and you guessed it, Tagalog. Walk anywhere on the skywalks between Central MTR/Hong Kong MTR/Star Ferry in Central and any of the public places near the Star Ferry in TST (Space Museum, Cultural Museum, Museum of Art, Olympic Rings) and you'll see them everywhere.
Pros: As an AC veteran, I love the Filipina woman. It brings me back, and I like using my pidgin Tagalog when I can, they always get a kick out of it. Their English is usually better than their Indonesian counterparts. Again, lots of girls to choose from.
Cons: Pretty much the same as Victoria Park, except here, the hard part isn't the religious ones as much as the older/less attractive ones who will do their damndest to repel you and/or take you for themselves. Be careful.
How to get there: Take the Star Ferry from Central or Wan Chai. At the TST pier, take a right from the exit and walk. Can't miss 'em.
TST - Kowloon Park
I would say this is the best place other than Wan Chai to try your skills for a number of reasons. A huge park, but with a lot of attractions, such as fountains and a full-on aviary, complete with cockatoos (loved getting one of my girls to say that).
Pros: Lots of girls, both Indonesian and Filipina. Seemed to be smaller groups than CWB or Central, more friends than clans/hometown groups. Also lots of people here from many different places (when I went I noticed lots of Nepalese/Pakistani/Indian/African, most likely due to the mosque that's also in the park, but positively, didn't see that many headscarves on the girls). Seemed to be easier to "fit in" the crowd there. A lot more secluded/semi-private areas, especially around the aviary, which might give guys some extra confidence to start walking up to the girls.
Cons: One of the girls I was with said she was scared to walk alone in Kowloon Park, though she wouldn't say why (although I think she was nervous around non-Chinese Asians/Africans, from the environment during the conversation). Some of the girls bring their owners' children to the park too, so I would stay away from those groups.
How to get there: TST MTR station and follow the signs, or from TST Star Ferry, take Canton Road all the way until it's in front of you, about a 5-10 min. walk.
Part II: The Method
-------------------
First rule: Be friendly and "gentlemanly." They all know what you're after, but at the same time, they've got their own dreams that you can fulfill. If you come up to a girl and ask her for her number/invite her to your place right away, it won't work (unless she's P4P, and you've saved yourself the effort!). For foreigners, in this scene, the "nice guy" seems to do better than the "rebel," as long as you can sweeten them with talk.
Second rule: Give it some time. You're rarely going to get a girl to go with you the first night (unless you get them wasted in Wan Chai, and then your chances will increase if you can get the friends away). After you chat them up for a while, maybe buy a few drinks or whatever, you can trade numbers. Text them a couple of times during the week, and they'll most likely see you again, alone, next Sunday. They just need that feeling during the first time that you're not out for the lay alone (even if you are).
Third rule: Don't become Uncle Pennybags, but don't be a miser, either. DO NOT give them cash if they ask for it. These girls are scammers, and not worth your time (even though you may have expended a lot of it getting to that point). However, treat them well, and they'll treat you well. I generally take them to a decent restaurant with food from their home country (I recommend Cinta-J in Wan Chai or Padang in CWB) on the first meetup. After that, it's smooth sailing.
Protip #1: In the parks, bring a camera/cameraphone. It's a great conversation starter. Find some girls near an "interesting" photo, and ask them to take your photo in front of it. Then, ask to take their picture. If they seem interested, your conversation is started for you.
Protip #2: Get a prepaid SIM card available at any little mobile shop (I use one from Peoples, which you can get at any 7-11) if you want to keep it separate from prying eyes and/or you're worried about them harassing you after you've left them.
Protip #3: Part on good terms and/or treat the friends better. The bamboo telegraph works just as good here as in the PI or Indonesia. Don't want to thin the pool out for the future.
Protip #4: Work on their schedule. Most of these girls need to be back at their owners' place either Sunday night or early Monday morning; FIND OUT, and then give yourself time for the most important activity of the day.
and finally, Protip #5: Keep 'em around for a while. These kinds of girls tend to get better on repeat experiences. The girl I recently picked up was very shy on the first time, and much better the second.
Conclusion
----------
These girls are great for people who live in HK or visit frequently. They can only see you on Sundays, so they can't invade your personal life like a girlfriend could, they almost never ask for money/gifts, and they're usually very accommodating in bed. However, they take some work, and are definitely no substitute for a good P4P experience at 37 Dundas or a good sauna in Macau.
I've included a picture of one of my girls (22, Indonesian) for "reference." I hope this report has been helpful to someone on this board, and I look forward to seeing others' reports on hunting the lovely domestic helpers of Hong Kong.
Cheers,
Crazy Ami
