What I don't get is how you can not be able to score at beergarden? Out of your pricerange? What prices did they quote you? Too funny, possibly a larger trend in Bangkok as hotties opt out for the higher priced venues, and food stall grannies pick up the market slack. It happens all over the town but is now the norm at certain times of the day at certain locations. Some years back drivers would make excuses like rubbing their bellies pretending they were hungry but now they just shake their heads and drive on. I have some sympathy for anybody trying to make a living driving a taxi with a starting fare at 35 baht but it does the image of the city no good to see tourists hail down taxi after taxi before finding one that will take them and then quite often only if they pay over the going rate with the meter off. I feel the basic rate should be more say 50baht which is still ridiculously cheap and then enforcing the regulation of not being able to refuse any fare and always using the meter.

Sorry for the delay in posting this but I have been quite busy in the last couple of weeks (we have a couple of things in the pipeline so watch this space). A very good friend of mine arrived for a short weekend stop-over en route to Penang for a 10 day holiday. This was his maiden trip to these glorious shores.
