Well said. The Thai economy has been booming for the last few years. As you said, anybody with half a brain can get a regular job. In fact, I understand that employers across the board are having a hard time finding personnel.
TH is no longer the value it once was. I've been coming here, more or less yearly, since 1999. I stopped the go-go scene a couple of years back. Now I'm just amazed at the prices and shitty service everybody seems to put up with, and consider normal. Wow. But sorry, $20 bar fines, $100 short times, $6 or $7 beers, are you fucking kidding me? Add to that well over $1, 000 airfare from the USA, and other destinations look a whole lot more attractive. TH used to be a wonderful place for complete GFE at a reasonable rate. Now, with this shitty state of affairs, Tijuana (in some respects) is actually a better alternative, and I thought I'd NEVER say that.
Having said that, I'm typing this from my hotel room near Suk soi 20. Got in last night. I will NEVER take a flight that arrives at 1:30am again. GF (non-BG) and I are heading up north, later today, to pay respects to family.
For all the insanity, Thailand is still a pretty neat place to visit. Now where's my som tam?
You are exactly right. Thailand (especially Bangkok) is so overpriced now. Taking into account that I need a Hotel in Thailand, I am even cheaper and better off in Hong Kong these days. Something I would not have believed a while ago. Let the fools part with their money.

Come again?
With the USA in permanent decline for now.
What? "Permanent decline for now". You might want to rethink / rephrase that one.
TH is no longer the value it once was. I've been coming here, more or less yearly, since 1999.
Visited the first time that same year, while on regional travel (China, Laos, Cambodia etc) , and now finding the same.
Only started mongering here in the early 00s though. Interestingly it seems the prices for 'some' things have not risen majorly in that whole time, while for other things we're being gouged. Late 90s was of course the crash time for their economy? So in some ways we were spoilt with the value we were getting back then and into the early to mid 00s. Now it is back to normal, and we're having to be far more disciplined with expenditure, combined with the other factors like our weaker currencies, rising flight costs etc.
Mind blowing sex with pretty Girls in their early 20s is still to be found, but it puts a dent in my wallet that increasingly is putting me on the back foot each time when converting into the total in my own currency. It has meant a slow retreat on this visit to being mainly beach lounging with great food, only 'occasional' visits to WG. In many ways I was spoiled by frequent former meet ups with a GFE BG who didn't want regular payment for daily boom boom, but just the occasional thing bought for her etc.
Recently one of the lookers I visit in the Mini 'naughty' Massage Joints on Ko Samui said that they get a huge amount of young and fit handsome male tourists showing up at the door who either expect a freebie 'because' they are young, fit and handsome, or have swallowed this mythology still doing the rounds back home that pretty young Girls are to be had for about B200 in Thailand, and tend to leave the joint with their saddle bags still fully loaded as a result. What is charged is still far better than Escort prices in the west for sure, but expenditure for Boom Boom (for Falang) seems to be completely unrealistic to other local costs that we pay here. It has become a lifestyle choice for some Girls to make big money fast, rather like Western Escorts. Men get gouged as a result.
For all the insanity, Thailand is still a pretty neat place to visit. Now where's my som tam?
Agreed, and this is its fall back. Although it is not ending up as a 'new snatch every day' for me, there has been contentment in the fact that the beach lounging is still blissfull, getting bronzed on the sand, turquoise water, som tam and paneng curry. In so many ways Thailand is a great little holiday destination in itself. If it wasn't, by now I would have called it a day for visits.
Indonesia is looking like my new 'travel+monger' place now though.
Impressed by it for travel last year and had some great sex at reasonable prices I could roll with.
Get with the present, the here and now.
It aint that bad!
By the time BKK reaches western status you will be long gone. I'm assuming you way past 50. LOL.
Not even 50 dude. Been here since my mid-30s. The "present" state of affairs is pretty bad.
With the USA in permanent decline for now. The rest of the world will have a hard time prospering. So goes america the rest of the world will follow! Thai girls will will have to reopen their SNAPPERS to make a living again. LOL.
Uh, no. The US is and will become less and less relevant as Asian markets develop. And Harold, in many ways Thailand has passed Western Standards.

For all the insanity, Thailand is still a pretty neat place to visit. Now where's my som tam?
And it is a pretty decent place to live for reasons other than pooty. Yep. 100 USD for a wham bam is a rip off, and I am amazed how many guys are willing to put up with this. Really it is not the girls fault at all. Good on them. It is the fools that come here, stick it in, and in 6 seconds are in love / lust.
And it is not about being cheap. I would have no issue at all paying 100 USD for a good looking gal that scr*ws like a porn star.
I wonder if it is a BAD time going to BKK in June / July is I am going for the girls only?
Is it lowseason in BKK and no good looking girls in the bars?
Damn I have already booked my tickets 25 June. 5 July.
But IF there are as much girls in the bars but not as much customers in the summer it whould be a GOOD time to visit becouse its more good looking girls but not so many gauy after them? .
Hmmmm help me here.
Just go and report back. BKK is good at any time of the year to find girls.
The offer is so wide that even a drop of 20% in availability will not be noticed
-
If one takes a consultant for an out call, how many hours does the guy have the girl available?
Our policy on out call is any time after 1 pm until 8 am the following morning. Which I think represents very good value for money.
Regards.
