I checked out tonight the AMP someone recently referred to as "opposite the Du building". During my time in MENA, I've always got a chuckle, after having the hell frustrated out of me, by directions. Opposite, behind, near don't necessarily mean squat-and in this case as well.

The Du building is on Hamdan street, corner with Liwa St. This is just west (left facing the corniche) of the Crown Plaza Hotel, but on the opposite side of Hamdan from Crown. Standing next to the Du building facing Hamdan St, turn around (180) and walk north (toward the corniche). After a building or two you will see Lari Exchange. The kicker is that the entrance to the Sahara building is on the back (west) side of the Lari Exchange. Take an alley and wander around a bit and you will see the Sahara sign. Notice I used opposite and back in my directions. MENA is rubbing off on me. Anyway, this should get you close.

Name of the AMP is Middle East Health Care Centre. Phone is 02 6224244. Located on floor 1, suite 101.

But to put it simply. Head up Airport Road (2nd) towards Corniche. Turn right on to Hamdan (5th). Turn left at first traffic lights (That's Liwa St) Then use Gulftag's footwork directions from there.

I've been here some time now and I feel I have rather overdone the 49 ers' Ally Pally and Blitz triangle. Treasure laded as it is.

I have had mixed experiences some excellent and some awful and many in between. Well carrying on from the posts made by the other AMP researchers, my friend and I have checked out some Thai massage. I will not mention the specific massage place we visited because I get the feeling that there is too much LE attention on AMP at the moment but I can provide details to the "right" people if the send me a private message.

First of all I'd like to say a few things about Thais. They give a much different / better massage than Chinese. If you are seriously interested in just a massage then you should check out one of these places. But expect to pay a little more, and also expect to feel some pain. Thai massage tends to involve a certain amount of pain, but once you get used to it, you will prefer it. I paid 350D for a 90 minute massage. This is about triple what that massage would have cost me in Thailand. But hey. I'm not in Thailand.

My masseuse spoke Thai / Chinese / Malay (which I can also speak. But not fluently) so I was able to carry on a good conversation with her because if I didn't know how to say something in Thai then there was a good chance I knew how to say it in Chinese or Malay. They do offer happy endings as mentioned by MunchBunch below. Basically you cannot get a full service session in the massage place because of the risk of LE walking in on you in mid session. That's the trouble. These girls originally set up shop in Dubai. These are Dubai rates. Things work a little different down here, where the going is cheap. I'd certainly jump at 1000 though. Like you though, LT is out of the question for the time being.
