Pattaya Hotels

Never felt unsafe, in or out of the hotel. Last week I was in Geneva for a few days. I had dinner in a Thai restaurant near the main station. After dinner I took a stroll around on my way back to my hotel. There were many streets I was looked at by loitering men as if they were calculating their chances to rob me (or worse). Nothing actually bad happened, but it was the atmosphere that felt unsafe and this was in Geneva, Switzerland, which anyone would consider very safe.

Forgot to mention I need WIFI in my room, the Holiday inn charges 650 baht a day which really sucks. I am a Platinum member so sometimes it is free but in Pattaya they charge. You can get free wifi in the lobby but not convenient and everybody can see your logged onto ISG.

The LK Empress looks really nice and as I have stayed at both the renaissance and metropole I expect it will be just as good and girl friendly.

I would recommend LK Empress from many reasons (no, I am just a satisfied guest nothing else). Great location at the Beach Road, very girlfriendly (the only time I got reaction from the staff was when I walked in alone) , fair price (ca 2500bht per night) , WIFI, very fast, incl in the price. Even have a Mini Mart located at the hotel. Very convenient when your new girl need some night snack. And it is clean and quite modern.

I liked it and I am fairly picky even if I just drink, sleep and fuck in the room.

May the force be with you.[/QUOTE]The Empress is really good. I will see you there in 2 weeks. The only problem is they sent a massage girl to the room at 4AM by mistake. I chased her away 2 times. My girlfriend chased her the third time and she finally understood her mistake. I don't know why a 4 star hotel in Pattaya has to supply women? These guys must be total dorks.

I was planning to bring a tablet which does not have a Ethernet port, so I might need to bring the notebook instead. I rather bring the tablet, its lighter and smaller, much easier to carry around.

I'm looking for a hotel in the $50 price range (during the off-season) that is within walking distance of the nightlife and that has some sort of a fitness center (nothing fancy, but I'm thinking a bench press, squat rack, and some free weights). Any recommendations? Thanks for your help. Hotel report to follow later this month regardless of where I end up staying.

Walking distance from Soi Cowboy and one stop on the skytrain from Nana. The street is full of massage shops as well. They actually rent little studios, so the rooms are bigger than a standard hotel room and you get a little kitchen as well. Get some frozen food from the 7-11, microwave it and you save on the restaurant bills. The top floor has a small but nice swimming pool and a gym with just the equipment you mentioned.

Of course the hotel is totally guest-friendly and the girls at reception do not bat an eyelid when you walk in with a different guest every night. But make sure your room has a double bed and not twin beds. The bed is actually of quite good quality and withstood well all our acrobatics. ;)

Anyone there now that can comment on the construction noise on Soi 10? How bad is it? What hotels are affected? How long will the construction last, etc?

How bad is it?[/QUOTE]The photographs I've seen recently appear to show Soi 10 has been repaved all the way from Beach Road to Second Road. So as far as I can tell, the project to dig up the street and install storm drains is finished. Be advised, however, that the beer bar complex at the southwest corner of Soi 10 and Second Road is rather loud. There are two live bands most nights, and they really crank the tunes. So if you're staying at the Page 10 hotel, and your room is on the south side of the building, you're going to be disturbed by the racket until the beer bar shuts down in the wee hours.

The only construction on Soi 10 is by the BR end across from Imperial Residence. They are building what may be another hotel there and you can hear the thumping and banging as you pass by but the Soi is open for unrestricted driving and walking.
