Okay so I need a good recommendation for Saturday in MOW.

From the forum it seems Karma, Real McCoy, and Che are good places that are semi English friendly and provide some "normal" girls. Any thoughts on these?

Also anyone have feedback on live music venues? I was thinking the Dom u Dorogi, B.B.King, or Arbat Blues Club.

Night Flight - last Sunday had dinner (very good filet) and and hung in the bar. Lots of 7's to 9's. All quoted $500 (agree with the "union" comment). I left alone but enjoyed the experience.

Hit Che on Sat (no reso so turned away as expected) Real McCoy (good swing band but full and no tables and I needed food, women were not looking strong anyway), ended up at Papa John's. Some really nice looking girls but a full joint and I had an early Sun anyway so I didn't stay long. Pretty fair pizza though and watching some of the crazy Russian guys dance was VERY entertaining...

Hit Karma on Sunday. I enjoyed the club but the women were not as hot as expected. 5 - 8's. As someone mentioned it is Hip-Hop oriented on Sun at least and it seemed the majority of girls there were looking for dark meat.

I think I will try Parizhskaya Zhizn' today (Mon) and if that sucks not sure where to head...maybe head to Hot Dog's to check the box.

Tour of duty ends this coming Saturday so any recommendations of other places for Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri are appreciated.

Good choice on NF for dinner. Tough to beat their fillet.

Michael's on Tverskoye Bulvar (south of Tverskaya near Nikitskaya) is an excellent place (albeit pricey) for a great meal. Interesting crowd. Both times I have been there there's a mix of upscale Russians and (non-American) foreigners. Date and I got invited to a private party afterward by the folks at the table next to us - so that was pretty cool.

There also an interesting Peruvian Restaurant called El Inka. It's located on the third level of the shopping mall called 5th Avenue. It's a 10- minute walk from the Oktyaberskoye Pole metro. Food is ok, but they have a live latin band on weekends (and I think on Thursdays). If you like to latin dance you can most certainly pull a non-pro out of there after a few dances and few drinks. Lots of beautiful girls dancing together - always a good sign.

If you have not tried it, Cafe Pushkin is worth going to (once) just for the experience. Expensive but very nicely put together restaurant. Food is excellent but not memorable. It's more for the experience of the place.

Other recommendations:

CitySpace Bar on top floor of SwissOtel Kransye Holmy. Go at dusk and order a single drink.... anything else is too expensive. But the view is awesome. That bar has gotten me laid many times... but also cost me a small fortune. BTW... it's a BRING a date place. It would be pretty awkward trying to pick someone up there... single girls don't go there because it's too expensive. BTW, did I mention it's expensive?

If you are only interested in quality of food, the chow at "Scandanavia" is great. Excellent meat, the mixed grill is superb as is the fried salmon or herring starter. OK place for date, but not really romantic. Too cool and Scandanavian for romance... I only go there with girls I have already bagged.

Well I hit Parizhskaya Zhizn' on Monday. I had dinner (not great) and then went upstairs. I entered at 2330. Total of 5 girls and one guy. I remembered my forum info though and decided to stick it out and see what transpired since it was "early". It was a decent crowd by 0100 with a few decent girls but about a 50/50 mix girls to guys. Id di see one of the funniest things so far in MOW...a guy by lonesome decided his dress shirt was just too much so he decided to unbotton it and tie it into a "half shirt" while dancing on the elevated stage. Overall a fairly disappointing night. I am hoping that Wed will be better.

keep this one in the back of your mind. down on novy arbat (near arbatskaya metro) is a bar / restaurant called zhiguli (like the car) . it's known for being a brezhnev era bar. very plain with concrete floors and wooden benches - proletarian is the look they were going for i think.

if you come in the door, the bar is to the right and the restaurant is to the left. they normally have a live band during the week after 9:00 pm that play a wide variety of dance music. early in the week, (tues, wed) it seems to be a popular place for office colleagues to go for a happy hour after work. eat some food, drink some beer (and maybe a little vodka) and do some dancing.

i was there in june on a tuesday night with a date and saw a table with about 12 beautiful girls and only 3 rather dopey looking guys. by 10 pm, the girls were trashed and hitting on all of the guys in the restaurant to come and dance with them. when my date went to use the ladies room, one of the girls literally dragged my up onto the dance floor during a slow dance and proceeded to grind her crotch into my leg. of course, when my date came back, i just about had to break up a cat fight, but i digress.

When I arrived I had immediately to afford the typical russian service, cause they told me I will stay not in the main building but in the other one, so they,only in russian, described me the street to do to get to my building....imagine...such tired, with almost 35kg of suitcases walking in the night searching for an address nobody knows....and I really did not found the other building, so I went back to the main building where they described me one more time in russian where I will stay.....it was really a bad beginning after 4 years from my last time in Russia...

I found my building after about one hour, fast shower and I met with my russian friend and his wife, we went to simple pleasures restaurant, couple of salads and beers and.... 4,500 rubles (121 euro)....I was already tired of Moscow...so used to the price of year 2004......

Then they went to sleep and I wanted to try Karma bar, it was about 2:00 and...obviously I did not passed the strict face control, nevermind, I stopped few cars just to be able to find one driver that knows where is hot dog.....once where I drunk couple of beer and start to look to the girls....

It was enough to just blink an eyes and they came to me one after one, they asked 12.000 rubles (320 euro) and I obviously said no. I was tired and not really in mood to get sex, surely not at such insane prices. What I noticed that till 3:00 all the girls were alone, nobody took out no one of them.

To make long short, we went only few km far from hotel Cosmos and there were really many tochkas, enough cheap and even if they were not a top notch,they were much better than many girls you see in hot dog.

Several of you will remember that I asked for advice on contacting Moscow girls via email a couple of weeks ago. I thought this silly, but hey, maybe she thought I was just some internet time waster? I sent her a recent holiday snap of myself. Since then, total silence.

For a day I was flummoxed. We had the deal stitched up, with price, service, time and meeting place. Why was my Russian speaking abilities a problem? Also, it's not like the photo I sent her would have made her bolt: I'm a youngish, sprighty and quite muscular and athletic 40+ guy. So why???

Then I put on my Russian hat. The deal that I thought I had negotiated would have rested in itself. Kristria would simply have had to come to my hotel room, take the money, undress, and get on with it. However, if she was NOT willing to do those things. If she was in on a bait-and-switch routine according to which I would have to pay at least 2X for basic services then it all makes sense. In that case, not being able to communicate with me for a secondary negotiation would blow the scheme out of the water. Then comes the back-up plan: at least she can pocket my 3000 rubles and do a bunk? But... what kind of a person am I? My photo shows her that, far from being a geek or a dear old man, I'm a physical person who could get nasty if crossed. Since then, silence.

Well, there are some very savvy operators out there on the Russian znakomstva sites. And, as the Russians have it, "The Woolf from Tambov is Their Mate!" :)
