Most people (the locals, taxi drivers) advise rolling out of there before sunset.

I haven't been back to a casa there since my first trip in 2012. El Centro is definitely not the crown jewel of Medellin. After having to step over people sleeping under slabs of cardboard during the day and seeing human shit on the sidewalk, once was enough for me, LOL.

(1) The girls only cry 'leche papi' because they want to ensure that you climax which is the high point of any sexual encounter. To have sex and not orgasm can be very frustrating. They have your interest at heart.

(2) Medellin does not have a beach and does not have that relaxing ambience that Sosua has.

(3) Medellin does not have the helpful touts that Sosua has, these guys are willing to help you for a pittance. You will never lack for helpful information in Sosua.

(4) If you have any game at all you can get many freebies in Sosua.

(5) There are lovely souvenirs for sale all over Sosua, you can always have recollections of your trip when you are back home inclusive of some amazing Haitian paintings.

(6) All the chicas are within a very short walk from your hotel room, some may even be found in the hotel premises itself. No need to hop a taxi in traffic to get to chicas.

(7) There are massage joints, watering holes and clubs within a short walk from your hotel.

It is just that they will hassle you to no end to buy one, then hassle you to no end if you did buy one ("you bought one yesterday, why not buy another?").

Some of his post seems a bit tongue-in-cheek. No one has ever mentioned the touts as a highlight of Sosua, lol. Anytime you add a middle man into the equation, you will always pay a higher price. Plus they can use the chica they are getting for you to give them all sorts of juicy tidbits:

-He is staying at X hotel
-He is leaving on Sunday
-He has an iPad, laptop, video camera, iPhone
-He keeps all of his pesos in his back pocket
-Etc.

I am kinda pissed I missed the street closures though. That was one of the aspects I had forgotten about, and would have probably propelled me to have revisited sooner other than just for the fact that Clasicos has reopened. I hope they plan to close the streets again soon.

If I could ever find a cheap fare from SJO (SJ, Costa Rica) to MDE I'd be there in a heartbeat. Unfortunately all of the fares are around $600.

In the Turgid-Manizales debate on Sosua & Medellin having been to both, I agree with Turgid on every count. Safety is what you make of it? Give me break. That's the most naive statement I have ever heard unless you are just trying to be macho. But I also agree with Turgid on all other counts.
