Was it not Real - Club Circus
“Was it not real, was it not like in the old days.”
Hi Billspu
As reported some time ago , research revealed neither Club Circus nor anything like club circus was there. After my friend had researched it , I went up and checked it out and found similar. Sorry realize now , didnt put my personal findings online back then , cause my findings were much same as friends.
To cut a long story short , here is the old post late 2006 :
"Club Circus is Jive now
My close friend checked out Club Circus couple of days ago. Now I am talking about the one and only club circus been there since noahs ark , its up on a hill , nothing to do with mango anything. I am talking about that club circus on lahug hill.
Its name is now Jive and at 11pm it was empty said friend and too upmarket for the kind of freelancers we used to meet at old club circus. There is a slight chance that someone has started up a Club Circus at Mango whatever , that is a chance and I hope it is so because Jive will not jive with the freelance girls , P150 entrance , owners trying to attract a different clientele , reportedly very nice interior by the way.
My friend said 'club circus' to taxi driver and he headed up the hill where thousands of taxi drivers have done so years before , he didnt head any where near mango thingo. So lets know fellas if there really is a new club circus NOT on the hill . Then it might be good news cause Jive on the hill isnt gonna do it."
Billspu :
So is it resurfacing now , like an active volcano ?
It's about 19 months since the original rumour surfaced.
Can you or someone else climb the Mount , and pray tell us , our dreams have been realised ?
Good Resort / Beach Front and Close Enough to Action...
We are heading out to Cebu in oct. for a few nights of fun and diving... I've RTFF'd and can't figure out what the best place is to stay... Any recommendations on good accomodations (higher end) - that will not be too far away from the action... I mean I don't mind driving a ways to get to the action, for a good hotel/dive place...
Any recommendations or PM's are greatly appreciated... I've been to AC a ton, but NEVER to Cebu...
thanks.
Diving info - a novice's perspective

I went to Cebu City last December for my first real diving since qualifying as an open water diver. So I don't have too many other places to compare it with. Based on info from members of this board (thanks Spam Hog) and info in the guide book, I started in Moalboal. About 2 hours by bus and 50 peso bus fare (going... there was a "special" fare going) and 80 pesos for the return journey. I had some great dives but the hotel wasn't great so I won't recommend it.
The guys in Moalboal recommended Bohol as another good destination. I went to Alona Beach on Bohol and had some great dives there too. Stayed at the Bohol Divers Resort Hotel (on the recommendation of my taxi driver) which was upmarket and reasonably priced.
Last place tried was Borocay which has now become horribly commercialised and the diving wasn't great. Strong (for a beginner) current and the diving equipment and dive masters generally not up to the same standard as the other places.
Incidentally, from a mongering perspective there wasn't a lot of spare pussy floating around. It wasn't a problem for me because I brought a gf from Cebu City (a story in itself. Thanks again Spam Hog!). However, for guys going on their own it's more difficult than, say Puerto Galleria. Definitely bring your own if you don't mind being with the same honey for the duration of each excursion.
