After 5 years in Asia, I'm going to Pattaya for the first time. Since it'll only be for 3 days, could you advise on a good hotel right in the middle of the fun? If possible with Jacuzzi and decent service. ($$ is not so much of an issue. Seems like every hotel is cheaper than the decent hotels in Angeles / Manila)

Best would be to do a Google search for "jacuzzi hotel Pattaya" without the quotes.
Ignore the top links with yellow background as they're simply paid ads.
Start from the first one in organic results.
All in all, several fun places in Pattaya, make sure to ignore the ones full of families.

I've booked a few nights for next week so can't comment on the quality yet.
It has two decent sized pools and seemed to be empty.
I used to stay there but the prices went up 100 Baht each year that I did. Last February they quoted me 1, 000-1, 100 Baht / night (depending whether I wanted the old or new wing) , and I am pretty sure that they only have one pool. They also do not furnish any drinking water, and charge you extra if you drink any that is in the room. I also like to have a balcony and only the multi-room suites have them at the AA Rez; other then that, I always found the place clean and the staff very friendly, and the location is very good.

LOCATION: Central Pattaya. East side of Second Road at Soi 13/2 (aka Soi Post Office) next door to The Avenue shopping complex. Steps to the up-and-coming naughty boy scene on Soi LK Metro. Very short walk to Beach Road, even if you're a lazy tosser like me! From there you can catch a southbound baht bus to Walking Street. If you fancy the Soi 6 experience, catch a baht bus headed north on Second Road and you'll be there in minutes.
JACUZZI: Book a Studio Suite Room, which has a freestanding jacuzzi right in the middle of the bedroom. Photos attached.
SERVICE ETC: This place isn't a big punter hangout, but it is certainly girl-friendly. Staff is young and hip and pleasant. Pool doesn't get a lot of sun because it's in a courtyard surrounded by the structure. But it's a nice place to chill. Didn't eat the free breakfast, so I can't vouch for the quality.

Water at 7/11 is only 14 BT a liter.
I spent 8 nights at the Areca Lodge: 7 in a Superior Deluxe room and 1 in a Superior room. The locations is great: right next to Soi LK Metro which has plenty of beer bars to chill in the afternoon and plenty of gogo bars to visit early evening before heading down to Walking Street. The rooms are of decent size, very clean, and overall quite nice for $60 / night. Judging solely from the room quality, I would stay at the Areca again. There are 2 pools and 2 exercise rooms. The exercise rooms are some of the worst I've seen at hotels, but the pools are nice. Free breakfast with a good selection is included in the room rate. The hotel is GF, but beware of their 20 and over policy. If you want to pick up 18 and 19-year-olds, DO NOT STAY HERE. I found out about their policy when I brought a 19-year-old cutie from Bacarra one night. I tried everything to get her to my room, from offering baht to talking to the manager to trying to register the girl as a hotel guest: nothing worked. In the end, I had to book a terrible room at a hotel across the street for that night. After that experience, I always asked the girls how old they were and actually paid attention to their answer. Which brings me to the next lesson I learned in Pattaya: do not believe Thai girls when they tell you how old they are; always check their IDs. After my Bacarra experience, I picked up 2 other girls: they both told me they were over 20, only to find out when they presented their IDs at the hotel that they were 19. To sum it all up: great room quality for the Superior Deluxe room, but do not stay here if you want 18 and 19-year-old. And if you stay here, check the girl's I'd before bringing her to the hotel.

if you don't have a vehicle: the hotel is about 30 minutes walk from walking street. the baht buses want anywhere from 200-300 baht to go to the sheraton from walking street, the lowest i was able to negotiate was 100 baht. note: the meter taxi rate from sheraton to walking street is about 40 baht, but good luck getting the meter turned on. [i've found if i pick up a taxi east of sukhumvit road they will turn the meter on, west of the road you are in the tourist price distortion vortex]. the hotel has a shuttle every 2 hours to central mall, they will drop you off where-ever you like along the route but only pick up at central mall. using any of these options deposits you at the entrance of the hotel with your guest: the hotel is built on a hill, with the lobby set back in a circular driveway and a service road going down the north side; you can bypass the lobby [and i did every time for easier access], but the gate guards will discretely take the i'd of any thai guest you bring past them at night. [of course no joiner fee]
summery: its not very convenient to walking street, not a great location for short time girls, some of the girls were worried it was too far and if there would be any motorbikes / taxis to take them home after. [there is always something sitting in front of the hotel, baht bus, motor-bike, even a meter taxi, if not the guards will call. expect to be quoted incredibly high rates, which will bounce back to reasonable when you start walking down the road. had a baht bus watch me walk about 300 feet till i was out of sight then come and pick me up for my offered rate].
the hotel itself is tip top, i wouldn't recommend any of the rooms around the swimming pools [why be so far away from the action just to let rambunctious children interrupt your sleep], if you already have your companionship sorted out its a great place to be. internet speed is decent but nothing special, almost enough to stream a video on youtube without buffering.
prices: i stayed for 3500 baht / night with the stay 2 get the 3rd night free special. upgraded [frequent guest program] to the villas on the beach.
mini-bar prices: a crime against humanity, one of my companions consumed more then her bar-fine when i was in the shower.

But at 900 a night I could afford it.
The hotel. And its TWO pools. Was almost empty. No problem with short time guests, as long as they had I'd's.
The condition generally shabby, but everything works. Basic buffet breakfast for 110, which I only tried once.

So a 19-yo will say she is 20, etc. Of course, as they become familiar with farang ways, they realise that we find that confusing, and start using the Western system. So as you say if in doubt, especially around the younger ages, then check the girls' ID.
I am on some course of medication and need to mostly avoid food from outside. Can anyone suggest good hotels right in the middle of action (close to soi 6, beach road) , which has a Microwave and little more facilities for basic cooking? $$ not a issue.
I found Pattaya Bay Resort has basic cooking options in thier Deluxe rooms and above? Any other suggestions?
