Really? I think they're highly pleased as the freelancers 'pester' the tourists, and make Pattaya a poor destination for the 'family' tourist. But seriously I do think everyone despises the freelancers - especially bars as they want to pimp out their own girls instead.

Yeah in practice they can't operate in the malls and such anymore as security throws them out and/or the cops arrest them. Policing is way more serious as time goes by. I never see any girls in front of Royal Garden, for ages now.

Yeah, the mayor has the same vision that everyone has had for Pattaya for ten years now. As for the Avenue, why would that venue allow prostitutes to hang out there? They have security, and in any case the cops will definitely come and arrest them if they go there. The girls told me the cops arrest them on second road, beach road, and walking street.

This girl works or did work between soi 7 and 8. From second road head down soi 8 and take the first right. she work the corner bar on the right.

Well, if you are right, we can all say goodbye to the FL scene on Beach Road, and those businesses can say goodbye to the tourists. They should be careful of what they wish for.

Pattaya is not a 'family' destination -- Jomtien, maybe, but not Pattaya.

How is the nightlife on soi 8 and soi 6 after Beach Rd crackdown?

Just arrived in Pattaya, had a walk along the beach road and the new shopping mall.
Shopping mall is stunning, but low business.
Beach Road is packed with working girls. Though majority is east of that what I like. But, a few gems are also there.
Soi 6 is packed with girls. Never saw so much girls in Soi 6 and beach road.

I've used them 4 times in the past 9 months, and they're just great. Very reliable...their driver waits for you at the airport with a sign, and you're in Pattaya an hour and a half later. Also had them pick me up at my hotel in Pattaya when I left, and they were always on time or early. None of the drivers I had spoke any English, but that wasn't a problem for me. I just pointed to the departure sign of my airline. I highly recommend. Cost is 1100 Baht, and they always seem to be pleased with a 100 Baht tip.

1100(including toll) from airport to Pat is pretty good price. I just got a taxi from nana area to pattaya for 1000. Bargain hard guys! Thais are hurting a bit at the moment.

Yep business as usual and no shortage of johns either. Good meat is still getting grabbed early and most gogo girls are still trying for 1500 ST. Only thing that will kill the market here is another airport closure. Amazing how the strong baht, bad world economy, and swine flu doesn't effect the sex trade!

Thanks for the support on a newbie question. A little question like this is a big question when you're going somewhere new. I always like to feel secure to and from an airport wherever I'm traveling. After 24 hours of traveling, I'm sure it will feel good to see my name on a sign with some reliable references.

Indeed I got the same impression yesterday. The Bars and walking street were full, as well as the after hour discos.
What I didn't saw was the big groups of Chinese package tourists which one could see in former times quite often, walking up and down walking street.
But, it's true the bars were not as crowded like in last November, but also the number of girls in the bars, especially the stunners is lower than last November.
Though the numbers of Freelancer seems still quite high. So, that's my usual hunting ground and the after hour discos are still great places to hunt, imho.
