[/QUOTE]The comparison with Philippino men is accurate in the sence that no matter how cool you are to each other, how well you can communicate in spanish, how friendly and courteous you act, you will always be seen as the foreigner with money. So in other words, get too friendly and they will eventually try to ask you for money or other shit as they start to feel confortable talking to you. I know it sounds harsh but I would never trust a Dominican in the DR unless I am paying for a service needed by that person. Keep things at a professional level and you should be fine. Even in the US Dominican men tried to rip me off, I think it runs in the blood.

Yeah see that is scary rite there, parasites I've taken a first aid kit with me to Road since '05 after I got sick and was stuck in Hotel Kaoba in Cabarete under the toilet for 2days. BTW I think I stayed in that hotel during low season and paid like $135 two weeks. I got back home and did my calculation and was like damn. But the very next year they raised prices.

Amazon and Newegg also sell the e71 unlocked. I looked the other day on Newegg and I believe I saw an open boxed E71 at a reduced price.

Expansys sells the BLU Samba Blue (Quad Band / Dual Sim) which has a keyboard for $49US. I know nothing about the cell phone maker Blu.

The E71 has internal memory and I put in a 4gb micro sd card. With the cell connected to my computer I downloaded and installed the United States map, Dominican Republic map and some other maps, using the nokia ovi suite 3. 0. That suite installed the maps into the cell. I don't know if they installed the maps into the internal memory or on the micro sd card. I will take the micro sd out of the cell and see if I can use the maps (to check where the maps might be stored).

The on / off button for the Nokia is flush with the top part of the case, you have to apply a bit pressure to turn the phone on and off and switch modes, which is good, no accidental changes to the phone's status when it is in a front jeans pant's pocket while driving (one time I was driving and had a samsung flip cellphone in my jeans front pant's pocket and somehow that cell phone went into speaker mode and answered a call, I had a GF in the passenger seat and the next thing I hear a voice of another chica coming from my cell in my pants pocket, busted) LOL.

Has anyone used a dual sim card cell phone in DR? I have no clue how a dual sim card cell phone may function in DR. Could one sim card be for claro and the other other sim card for orange? Are both sim cards active at the same time (when the phone is on) for incoming calls or does a person have to make one sim card active and the other sim card will be in some type of sleeper mode? Any information would be appreciated.

Top priority for that unit was not for the DR though. Real-Time traffic conditions integrated with auto re-routing around them is huge for me for driving in the US. This is why I have been looking at a second unit where I could maybe toss my $20 DR phone.

Newegg has an open box e71 for around $190 with about $3 for shipping. I would wait, someplace will put them on sale.

An ISG member bought the Dominican Republic map for his Garmin GPS from this company and said it worked fine in the DR (prices from $34 to $79US)

The screen size of the Nokia E71 is not super large. Unless you have eagle eyes, I had to zoom in to read the street names. For me it is good to have if I get lost or if I need to find a particular street while in the car. The GPS took a little while to load. For guys driving for the first time in the DR, I would probably suggest bringing a Garmin unit and buying the maps.

One thing that I would rather have in every hotel room than a Bible, is a plunger for the toilet when it gets blocked.

Also the Dom Rep should open an academy to train plumbers and maybe build a manufacturing plant for plumbing fixtures (to replace the poorly functioning plumbing found in many places).

Map size for New York is 81mb, California 124mb, Colombia 21. 3mb, Brazil 162mb.

Must be that they don't have waste treatment for the sewage.

My live in girlfriend (I've been with her for more than 2 years now) wants to live with me full time, here or there it doesn't matter to her. I would love to live there full time but money wise I can't.

So this weekend she hits me well why not take me to the US, we can get married and start a family, so on and so forth.

She'll be 22 and she wants a kid, so I tell her OK we can have a kid and start a family but it will take me some time to get everything together etc.

She asks how long? I tell her 1 year and no more than 2, and I actually mean it. It would be great to have a piece of ass like her nearby when I'm not traveling for work. She says the visa process doesn't take that long I can do it in 8 months, etc.

I tell her no. 1 to 2 years. She's crying, complaining and says that if I'm not going to do it she will look to get residency and pay for it herself because she loves me that much and wants to be with me forever. I reply with, that's a great idea I'll pay for everything here, housing, food, clothes, car, everything. You just need to pay for the visa process, she then retorts, if I do it it will take me more than 5 years. I tell her that's ok I can wait for you.

She back tracks and says she'll wait the 2 years.
