Holy fuck, these taxi drivers are pariahs! As I'm leaving the airport (Santos Dumont Airport. SDU), all these freaking taxi drivers keep asking me if I want a taxi. There's one guy that keeps following me even though I tell him no. He tells me Uber doesn't come here and keeps following me. I get stressed out and go to the train and buy the wrong ticket. LOL. It cost me R20, but whatever. There's a few people at the stop telling me I'm at the wrong one. One guy tells me I can take the train and transfer. I check out Uber again. It's weird. There's this blue box around the airport and I'm not sure what that means. I just assumed it means Uber's not allowed in the area? But there's also a place called the Uber Lounge in front of the Bossa Nova mall.

I flew GOL. I called the airline to confirm my booking was done correctly. Their website is in Portuguese, and when they ask you to fill out your birthday, it doesn't say whether you should put month first or day. While I was on the phone, I also asked if I'm allowed 1 carry on plus personal item (e. G. Backpack, laptop bag). She said no, so I purchased a check in baggage option. It's only $12 each way, so not a huge deal. But when I was boarding, I noticed most passengers had a carry on plus personal item. So it seems like it IS included. Also, when I was checking in for my flight, the lady just assumed I was carrying on both my luggage and backpack.

So yea. If you're allowed a carry on, you're probably allowed a personal item. =).

If it's your first time in Rio, and you're coming in through SDU, make your way over to the south side of Bossa Nova mall. There's a huge waiting area outside just for Uber.

Order Uber Black. I ordered regular Uber and had my request canceled several times. After a few minutes, I changed my request to Uber Black and I was matched with a driver in 1 min. The cost was only $2 more.

Staying at Astoria Palace. Seems like an older building, not too impressed. Room's pretty small and had a musty smell when I entered. Internet's pretty good at 63 Mbps down, 35 Mbps up.

If any of you guys are down to hang out, grab dinner, hit the boates, hit me up. I'll be here for 5 days. =).

I plan on checking out Terma 65, 4x4, and Termas Manhattan tonight. Or not. lol. I guess everything's closed due to Dia dos Namorados (Brazil's Valentine's Day). Glad I went to Abbobora in SP before coming. Dammit, looks like they're all closed tomorrow, too. =(

"I can't believe that I ever thought about retiring to this dump"! Walking around smelling the sewer. The Astoria Palace is like a lot of the hotels you're going to find in Copa. Not brand spanking shiny and new, but not total fleabags either (although you can definitely find some of those). On future trips, I won't be staying in Copa. I've been to Rio enough times now. Time to move up to a nicer neighborhood! LeBlon or Ipanema or even Botafogo. Or if I was retiring maybe even Barra.

Sure losing a credit card is a big headache but I take inventory everyday and would have just canceled it plus I have pictures of everything. 300 reais is just $60, I spent $500 that day between the escorts, dinner, drinks, club fees, girl for the whole night and the dupla. I guess that is one way to force customers to move to more expensive expensive options. They charge customers to cancel rides but I guess drivers don't have such restrictions.

I agree that Astoria Palace is very old and even their deluxe rooms are small. I read other member sharing same view so it didn't surprise me.

Gentlemen, not much to report but quite a bit in terms of observations. After dinner with a fellow ISG member and a thing back home I had to take care of the other day, I went to see a BarraVIP girl. Nothing exciting to report. Delivered good service at the usual rate.

1.) The most beautiful women in Rio are definitively non-pros. Some board members may not agree with this and chastise, especially since I have only been here a week. But in this week I have done an incredible amount of exploring out of the P4 P realm and a decent amount inside of it. One of my Brazilian friends who does go to termas sometimes agreed with this assessment, though our opinions are just that. Opinions. This is contrary to other places like Europe and Colombia where the women are comparable in both scenes.

2.) Brazilians are incredibly friendly and this extends to P4 P service as well. Nearly all of my sessions have been GFE or borderline even though I don't ask for it or even pursue it. Never in my mongering across Europe or Colombia has anything come close in terms of service. I don't do SEA because that's not my vibe / type. What the pros here lack in looks (relatively, because they are still good looking) they make up in service.

3.) The best way to get in with the highest volume of beautiful non-pros in Brazil is to have Brazilian friends. It is all about the social circle. Even some of you older guys have a chance here as I've seen several young stunning women with some older gentlemen. If you're under the age of 50, I'd say you have a legitimate chance with an actual 25-35 year old undeniable dime if you have the right in. You better be a real cool dude and bring something to the table worth having because Brazilian dudes have it figured it out. Which brings me to my next point.

4.) Brazilian dudes largely have good game and are not afraid to just go after it. I watched one girl reject a guy several times last night, only for her to leave with him at the end of the night as they were making out outside waiting for a taxi. Brazilian men make other western men look like absolute amateurs when it comes to hitting on beautiful women.

5.) I second SinfullyKorean's statement about using UberBlack. Another good option is UberVIP so you get matched with the best drivers. It is the same price as UberX but it can take longer to find a driver since the match criteria is more stringent.

6.) What is next? I still would like to meet up with VB and Zebra to explore the worlds they have discovered here in Rio, but am trying to figure out how to balance the time. I will be heading to Sao Paulo shortly as my Brazilian friends are going there next to continue the party. Possibly some termas and the massage places before I go. I will likely be back in Rio again afterwards, but do have a slight itch to head on over to Colombia. Or Curitiba. Who knows, I go with my gut!

7.) Alas the mongering here in Rio has lost its allure for me in favor of the non-P4 P options. I disclose this simply because as I previously wrote in my initial report, I am tailoring my reports for the younger newbies like myself. It would be dishonest of me to not give a complete account of my findings in this adventure. I came to Rio with the intent to mostly monger but also explore the non-P4 P options. If nothing changes in the next few days, I will be leaving here satisfied with the P4 P options, but much, much, much more impressed with the non-P4 P scene.

8.) One of the best non-P4 P weekend bar scenes is in Leblon on the street with all the restaurants heading towards the mountain. You're welcome.

9.) If you care about nothing else I have said so far, at least listen to this part. Learn Portuguese.
