Hotel Gran Armele was not available for my dates so I am staying at Palmas del Sol. It is a decent hotel but I think, little away from the action.
I have been here almost 24 hours and not liking it, so far.
Can anyone spare some time to show me around? I will pick up the tab and the help will be greatly appreciated.

lately i have been reading a lot about PY...and i wondered how would Ascencion compared to be with...lets say LIMA (Peru)...?????????
Prices of hotels??? girls??? transport (cab fare...Lima is so f*cking huge...so that could get costly),savety,things to do????
Only back draw (for me) is the fact the getting there (to PY) is way more costly and take more hours off traveling then to Lima. For a regular ticket to PY i seem to must be paying at least 275 EUROS (=USD 370,-) MORE....:-( Not to mention 4-5 hours MORE in the air....aswell:-(
OO btw i was in Lima in 2002 and loved it. I know Lima has TONS of stunners walking arround aswell.....:-)

Latest report on Asuncion, Paraguay. Most of the action is not in the bars or clubs. It is mainly street action. It starts about 11pm on the main drag Palma Street, corner of 14 De Mayo. Goes down to Colon (where all the bars & clubs are - try Toc Toc bar), over one block and the up Estrella St again to 14 De Mayo. The girls just hang around. They will ask $10! Most are just average but lookers can be found. I had a beautiful blonde for $20.(Paraguay girls are some of the best lookers and movers anywhere but a lot are in Buenos Aires to make money) One block over from Palma and 14 De Mayo on Pote Franco St is a hotel for sex. They charge $2 for a very basic room. I think the name is Embarcojor. For a country way off the radar screen there is steady action and really cheap prices.

I was supposed to be in Asuncion for 6 days but after spending 2 boring days in the city, I changed my ticket to go back to Buenos Aires early. I totally hate Asuncion. IMO it is a shithole. Almost nothing to do at day or night, the Taxi drivers are cheats and the girls aren't even that pretty. I think all the good looking girls are working in BsAs. May be, I am too spoiled by Buenos Aires where the girls are the best, night life is very vibrant and I've never had a bad experience with the Taxi, yet. In Asuncion, I had 2 bad experiences with Taxis in 2 Days. Sure, there are cheap privados in Asuncion for $ 20.00 an hour but what to do after that hour. I had 2 sessions in 2 different privados here and they were very comparable or inferior to what I get in BsAs. So what is the attraction of coming here? I didn't even find a good place to eat. I have travelled to few countries and the Capital of Paraguay Asuncion has the feel and look of a tiny remote village somewhere in Asia.
Whatever it is, think twice before you make plans for a vacation in Paraguay.

Johan is right on the mark. I have been to every country in Latin America, and Paraguay is by far the cheapest. The casas charge US$20 for a full hour and US$10 for a half hour. Moreover, every experience was a GFE and the girls are eager to please. I didn't sample any streetwalkers, but judging from this forum the prices and experiences are about the same. Paraguay is a provincial backwater, and to me this is more of an advantage than a disadvantage. There is a blessed absence of tourists to drive the prices up, and the girls don't have that jaded "pro" look and attitude so prevalent in BA and Rio. Even the pros in Asuncion have an innocence about them. Food and hotels are cheap as well.
So why haven't I been back? Exactly for the reasons Johan cites. The airfare, at least from the US, is almost double what it is to anywhere else, and it takes much longer to get there. If you are American, add to this the hassle and expense of getting a visa and it seems scarcely worth it after the first time, because most of the money you save will be offset by the travel expense. Better to go somewhere else easier to get to and pay more when you get there. But I do have fond memories of Paraguay. Who knows, maybe I'll be back.

Maybe some of the costs could be offset if someone is already visiting Brazil or Argentina. Maybe a round trip ticket for a 4 or 5 day stay from Rio, SP, or BA could be had for a good price. Just a thought, maybe to try something different, with no high expectations.
