Never thought I'd say this but, i'm really beginning to miss red light districts!

So, if you go there, you get in touch beforehand with your local contact (not a cabby, must be a known person and local) and you can with some manouvring get a woman, at her place and paying big bucks.

If you know nobody, my advice is to pass on it alltogether. Especially for short timers (one to two weeks) it does make little sense to monger in such a place. If you really need, wait for the weekend and fly to Dubai, it is relatively cheap and easy to get laid there.

If you have to stay there for a longer time, your only bet is to get in the expat circuit, it is a close-knit community, friendly and available. They will be able to direct you to all the little tricks of the trade, including women.

On the subject, my sources have consistenly mentioned philipinas (God bless them all! ) as sex providers. You can also meet them in shopping malls, but it is hard to make contact. If caught in anything close to flirting, trading, eye-catching activity the girl will be sent back to P, possibly after having spent some very unpleasant time at the local police station.

Local police is no less a threat than local criminals, often either beduins or young locals. Police can arrest you for no reason while driving and try to extort money, and having a discussion with a local is a bad idea. They win always and by default.

Conclusion: ST visitors, resist and wait for better times. LT visitors, expat community. In between visitors, arrange ludicious weekends in Dubai. If you can avoid visiting, it is a good idea to do so.

BTW, Kuwait sucks as mongering goes. But for shopping is very good. I spent many hours enchanted by the shops and offers at Venues, a gigantic mall in the centre. It is really worth it, and while does not compensate for the lack of frillies, it does help spending free time.
