I agree Jaded. I didn't want to reply at first but I just couldn't let it go.
I am an American living in Asia for over 15 yrs and I have seen the ignorant anti-americanism all around me.
Why that has to be present in a forum for guys just wanting to get laid is beyond me.
Maybe OLT should have some political debates with his cuties in LOS to satisfy his needing to rant.
so i guess it was a pet peeve that caused me to soapbox. thank you for understanding.2j
lol. i deleted my post thinking it just perpetuated the problem and then you went ahead and responded. oh, well.
no problem, though. but, i would suggest...and this isn't meant as an attack, just a suggestion...that, while i understand your point and you were correct, please don't join the growing chorus of dictatorial newbie posters who seem to lately be preaching on what and how each thread and this board should be used (look at cyberspace as a glaring example). most senior members who've been around for awhile tend to be more tolerant and just enjoy the free-flow nature of things. part of it has to do with the fact that we've seen it all and heard it all before. so, some like me are perhaps a little "too jaded" (haha) to get worked up about things going off topic - like the occasional comment (without pic) made on the photo section.
you've contributed some good stuff so far. just go with the flow and don't get so uptight about things. it's just a little, obscure sex board. it's not life and death.

First timer in BKK
Just wondering is it's more advisable for me to buy my air ticket to Bangkok from Manila in Manila or here in California before I go. I heard that the tickets are cheaper around Asia if you buy it in Asia. If not then I will just get it here. There's a PAL fare of $218 RT from Manila. Dates are in early March. Thanks for your help.
-
Hey!
I'll be visiting BKK in about 10 days. Should be there for atleast a week.
I have been through many posts here, and havent figured out a comprehensive list of places that one should visit while they are in Bangkok.
If anyone here could list some places that are "must visits", it would be helpful for all the members reading it. It would be great if someone could list the best Soapys/Massages/StripClubs/Go-Go bars & what districts they are located in.
Any help is always appreciated.
Thanks!
I am a little sunrise to here that essentially it’s the same as any other place in the world. True we are living in amongst so-called humans everywhere and we all eat, sleep, shit and fuck, but on the other hand there are many surprises waiting for the Newbie in Thailand I feel.
That's exactly my point. The four cornerstones of life on this planet have been, still are, and always will be: eating and sleeping and shitting and fucking. There is of course the fifth element (some call it the X-factor) which is not widely recognized for what it has been, still is, and always will be: the insidious conspiracy of unknown conspirators whose sole purpose is the destruction of the four cornerstones of life. The real tragedy in all of this is that the four cornerstones are not widely recognized for what they are: the four most sacred activities of mankind.
The unknown conspirators are able to keep the conspiracy going with their secret weapon of mass destruction. Not only is their WMD the most secret of top secret WMDs, it has been, still is, and always will be, the most powerful destructive force ever to be unleashed on this planet. Believe me, I know what I am talking about because I have seen it (the WMD) with my own eyes, and so have most of you.
The definition of this WMD and a short brief describing its implementation can be found within the bindings of each and every English dictionary that has been, is being, or will be, manufactured on this planet. In fact, this WMD is so pervasive and ubiquitous that you don't need a dictionary to find it. All you need to do is read the first chapter of the first book of the Bible and you can see how it is commonly implemented for yourself. But wait, there's more! You can also read a detailed report on its destructive effects that were observed during it's first deployment.
But don't worry. There's no need to go to all that trouble. I can help you out man. Just sit back and relax and I'll tell you all you need to do to make your life a little better. I realize that you don't yet agree with me because it is still obvious at this point that you are quite happy eating and sleeping and shitting and fucking, but MY GOD MAN (speak of the devil) there really is more to life than those banal, simple things. You don't need to believe me now, but you will. Oh yes! Yes sir! You will! you'll believe me as soon as you try . . .
Subtle deception - the most powerful and deadly weapon of mass destruction in the world. At this time there appears to be no way of stopping it. There is no vaccine or magic cure because the insidious conspiracy (or WMD) can not be contained until the unknown conspirators become known. Unveiling the identities of these unknown hoodlums is not such an easy task because, as with most conspiracies, the conspirators don't want to be known.
Now . . .
If you really want to solve this riddle and disarm the most powerful weapon of mass destruction in the world, you must first perform the following tasks: 1) Get up off your lazy ass. 2) find the nearest mirror. 3) take a long look at yourself. 4) and repeat the following words slowly and out loud to yourself. The most powerful weapon of mass destruction the world has ever known is me, myself, and I. Once you've done that you have unveiled yourself from your subtle deceits.
Afterwards, you will begin to rediscover life's four cornerstones: eating and sleeping and shitting and fucking. Just be sure that you never deceive yourself again. The four cornerstones of life on this planet have been, still are, and always will be: the four most sacred activities of mankind.

PosterLion,
Interesting post. Truthfully, I'd be happy with 2 of your "Cornerstones" : Fucking and Eating.

You will find this information in the Reports of Distinction thread. I would specifically pay attention to Giotto's AMP list, and also any good reviews on Eden and Soi Cowboy.
You can also either stay at Livingstones, which is Giotto's lodge in Sukhumvit, or just go for dinner and ask for 'the boss'. Giotto is usually helpful to newbies so long as you do not act like an ass.
Here is my short list:
Suzie Wong's (Soi Cowboy)
Eden (Soi 7)
Giotto's sports bar (Soi 33)
Darling Massage (Soi 12)

Hoe Hunter,
After reading through the threads, you should be able to list what you learned and what you feel are the "must sees". Post that list and we can add to it or comment on the list. Start with a good list, and we will help with the rest.
Don't make us do all the work! LOL!

I would add the infamous (Angel) Disco of Ill Repute to your short list because, even though many if not all of the long-timers will roll their eyes at this suggestion, it is worthy for a couple or maybe a few reasons:
1) It is the type of environment just about every expat tends to migrate to after becoming bored with the standard fare. That said, an old-timer (myself included) will tell you that Angel Disco is more of the very same standard fare that is on your short list already, but there is at least one major difference.
Angel Disco is normally the newbie’s' second epiphany while in Bangkok. The first epiphany occurs inside the places on your short list. Those names are somewhat famous, but Angel Disco must be one of the most famous Disco's in the world. I'll bet more men recognize the name of this Disco inside the Nana Hotel than the name of Thailand’s famous female pop star, Tata Young. By the way, not only should you add this to your short list, you should go tonight man! What do ya think?
The epiphany lurking inside Angel Disco manifests itself to the newbie in several ways:
1) Wow! There is a f-u-c-k-i-n-g-butt-load-ton of ladies in here!
2) They are all dancing and I can dance with them as well and the chances I'll look like a f-u-c-k-i-n-g-wanker-idiot for dancing with them are much less than the chances of those f-u-c-k-i-n-g-wanker-idiot men that look like f-u-c-k-i-n-g-wanker-idiot men while dancing with the girls in a gogo bar
3) Your chances of scoring a girl aren't guaranteed. There's a challenge involved. Hmmm . . .
4) The ladies that attend this disco are the very same ladies that work inside the gogo bars just across the street.
5) At the present time the Disco does not close until 3am.
The long-timers (myself included) have just finished sneering a long hard sneer that crept up onto their faces after reading reason number 3. Who does this idiot posterlion think he is including himself in our long-timer's club? We didn't invite him! He must be one of those f-u-c-k-i-n-g-wanker-idiot men that dance on the stage in gogo bars!
I don't blame anyone who just had that thought, it occurred to me as well. To say that scoring a girl in Angel Disco is not a sure thing is as absurd and ridiculous as saying the border of your native country was made by drawing lines on a piece of paper.
The borders of your native country and of all countries for that matter are nothing more than the chunks of land people avoided because the land wasn't safe and the reason the land wasn't safe was because anyone inside that land might be hit by a stray bullet or a stray mortar round or a stray arrow. It depends on the weapon dejur at the time your countries' border was first scribbled onto a scrap of paper with a pencil.
Dammit! I've lost the point! Again! Why does this happen to me more and more often these days? I wish I knew for certain, but I do know this: It's highly likely my second epiphany in Bangkok lead me to the street where I am living now: "Thannon - farang bpen baa." At least I'm not living on "Soi - baa baa bow bow" yet. Yes sir-ee! I'm not yet entirely without good luck. :)
Shit! shit shit shit shirt! On a tangent again!
Let me close with what I think was going to be a major point before I got lost in Khlong Toei without any shoes and without any money. Anyone who can't score a girl in Angel Disco has a lot of explaining to do! And quite frankly, those who can't score in Angel Disco must also be one of those men who can not be taken out of LOS because LOS has taken away everything that was once upon a time: the man.
Now how did I end up in Khlong Toei? Where are my shoes? Where is my wallet? Did I forget to take them from the house when I left home or have I forgotten them somewhere in Khlong Toei? Why can't I remember anything today? Where did I sleep last night? Did I sleep last night?!? I wonder if I can find my way back to my apartment. Here comes a bus, but I need money for a bus. What can I do? Maybe I can run and jump onto the back of it without begin noticed. What are these silly post cards doing in my pocket? Where did they come from? Hey I got an idea. I'll jump off at the next train station and see if I can sell these here post cards to some foreigners! ;)

Was that merely stream of consciousness or did you enter a parallel dimension?
Since we're kind of on the subject of discos, (I'm not exactly sure) have you, as an "old timer" ever ventured beyond the well-worn haunts - say to the Thai discos of Rachada soi 4-8, or over on Thong-Lor and Ekamai, Colisseum on Sukhumvit or way out to Tawan Daeng on Patanakarn? While you aren't guaranteed to get laid as these places, they do have loads of girls you wouldn't ever meet at P4P venues. Tawan Daeng is always full of Isaan girls particularly on weekends. If you're Thai is passable (better even, if you can speak Isaan) you certainly can approach the girls. I've always had lots of fun and pretty good luck at these places.
Just thought I'd mention it.

Pull yourself together, man! "Eating, sleeping, shitting, and fucking. " WTF? Is that all there is left for you? You’re kidding, right? You’re having fun with us. Tell me you’re just having fun with us. You’re scaring me. What has LOS done to you? Perhaps you should listen to that little voice inside you, pleading with you to come home for a while.
Take care of yourself,
