Ms. K "one from the penalty"
Last Wednesday afternoon, I checked into Istanbul Hilton. As I was having my coffee and reading the papers, two young men in their late twenties came to the lobby with a girl of twenty or so holding an Armani bag and passed to the bar close to where I was sitting. I was struck by the beauty of the girl and tried where I had met her. After a few minutes of struggling with my memory, suddenly I remembered her pictures in this Istanbul forum. So I decided to check the group.
About ten minutes later another man in his mid twenties entered to the bar, presumably coming from outside, nodded to the other two with greetings in Turkish, shook hands with Ms. K very formally (whose name I have just checked in the forum). Without any conversation, the girl left the Armani bag with the two at the table and was ushered by the third boy to the elevators. As I was curious about this interesting episode, I remained seated and ordered another Nescafe.
Two hours later, the third boy emerged from the elevator, joyful and beaming, followed by a grim faced, annoyed and exhausted Ms. K. The boy sat down with his friends, the girl took the bag, nodded to the two man, left without acknowledging the boy.
They asked the boy how it was and he replied "three nil, one from the penalty". I left the bar both amused and confused.
O.k. But what is the penalty "three nil, one from the penalty"?
