Word is that the MIBs are conducting investigation over there due to a murder at Singapore Hotel involving a PRC...as you know, when they investigate, raids would usually follow. Section 117 of the Penal Code deals with remand proceedings for detainees. The police can apply for a further period of detention to facilitate investigations for detainees. This has no relevance here and is not applicable here for those not under detention. Please check the Penal Code and do not confuse it with other sections in the Criminal Procedure Code which deals with police investigations.

The code is CPC 112 or 113. 113 you are under arrest and will in handcuffs. In both cases you can have lawyer to be there. Both deals with investigation with the particular incident. Anyway I'm not a lawyer. This is based on what I read.

Under Section 112 of the CPC, you will be requested to help police with their investigations and give a statement at your friendly local police station. At this point in time, you are not under arrest. Of course if you are not under arrest, you can refuse and chose to walk away. After this, there is a grey area of law as a police officer can then arrest you by his body language and words under other sections of the CPC and Penal Code and then you will be handcuffed. But the officer cannot arrest you for refusing to co-operate under Section 112.
Section 113 applies if you are under arrest.
However it is best to co operate if you are caught in a raid in a MP or entertainment joint.
