Well, I've been reading about all the problems with using credit cards to book online. I tried booking PAL from SF to Manila and two cards were rejected. A Mastercard and Visa.
Anything that can be done or that I should do?
One of the few things I like about PAL is it is easy to book online. I have had now problems with that.
Last time I took Cathay Pacific, just because their website price was 50% less than PAL's websites.
I would compare the price between the two.

Lapu Lapu GF Hotel
Hi, guys. I’m planning a trip for a month from now and could use a recommendation. My current itinerary has me in Bohol for a few days, then the ferry back to Cebu City and a flight early the next morning. I figured it would make sense to just find a hotel on Mactan, rather than struggling into the city and back out. Would also give me a chance to check out the Lapu Lapu City clubs. Can anyone recommend a decent GF hotel close to the action?

Is located between the 2 bridges that go from Lapu-Lapu to Mandanue and offer free airport p/u and delivery. I always got the deluxe suite located at the end of the floors, very spacious. Hotel within walking distance of one bar across the street (forget name). Years ago was $60usd/nite. 032-340-7821 is their phone. Hope that helps.

Credit Card Problems
Like many of the mongers here, I have had problems using credit cards to buy airfares over the intrnet. Most of my problems were with Visa.
Some airlines use verified by Visa as their checking mechanism. Over a period of time, I began to suspect that some or most of the problem lies in the fact that the information that I was giving over the internet may not be th same as that held by th bank that issued the card.
So a couple of day s ago, I went to the bank, explained the problem, and the operator called up my details.
Well, what a mess. Some words that should normally be written in lower case were written in upper case. The bank had gotten the name of the suburb wrong, left of part of the name. And the addrs was different t tht which I had given when filling out the original application. Some details had been abbreviated. So we fixed up most of the errors, and I now hav an exact copy of the details held in the computer at the bank.
I can understand why my transactions were terminated when there were so many diferences betewwn what I had input and what the bank held.
You might like to try this with your own card and report what you find.
For a long time, PAL have had a policy of not taking online bookings. I don't know why, and nobody else can explain it.
Good luck,

This site has information that you won't find anywhere else. I will spend a few days in Manila before going to Cebu next year. So I guess it's best to book my flight to Cebu after I arrive in Manila. BTW I always inform my credit union when I'm going out of country to avoid problems with using ATM's in foriegn countries.

C. While overseas. Some will put a block on overseas charges just because they see a foreign country, happened to me once, good thing I had a cell phone to contact them immediately and straighten it out. Have a nice trip.

Maybe it is just me but I have booked online with PAL, Manila Cebu before using my credit card. On the day you just go along to the check in counter and they ask to see the credit card. Got an e-ticket, was no hassle
Maybe because am not based in the USA? And dont have a USA visa?

Cebu hotels
I am still having a little bit of trouble finding a hotel in Cebu City. The Richmond is price decent at 1500 pesos, I am willing to spend up to 2500 pesos, but the room photos for the Richmond look really cheesy.
The Marriott looks nice, but it is almost 4000 pesos a night. and I prefer to not give my ID and credit card anyway just as protection against any skullduggery by girls.
Any other recommendations in the 2000-2500 peso price range?

Try the Golden Prince Hotel quoted me around that range recently. Or Castle Peak Hotel or Ford Inn (the latter has small FR from Gangles). Pricing of course depends on what you want. I need Internet in the room
Google for the web sites

Try the Cebu Grand. I stayed there when I couldn't get into the Richmond. Round about 2000 peso including an average but edible breakfast. Taxi required to go anywhere if you don't want a 15 minute walk. Next trip I will definitely stay at the Cebu Grand in preference to the Richmond

Milk and Honey
Apart from credit card, airline, hotel info, is there any on the ground nookie info out there? Been waiting for some time now.
We unfortunates, who are not in the Philippines right now, and who have to look at fat western women all the time, would like some stories about adventures in the land of milk and honey, Philipines.

I'll be back in Cebu next week and I'm sure I'll be going to Drifter's so I'll try and check Fords out.

The Golden Prince looks ok. And at 1600 pesos is affordable. Is it all within walking distance of the bars and discos? Are they girl friendly?
