I have tried web service (such as craigslist).comments are that all photos are fake, and it is true, from my experience. Prices can be high, but the starting price for a massage is ok. From my experience, the scenario is always the same.

1) by phone, you discuss the price of the massage with a girl who speaks in good English and speaks as if she was coming to your place. This is a very limited discussion, as the priority is to send you a girl, because it is always more difficult to bargain when you have been waiting and that she is in your room.

2) A girl arrives who cannot really speak English. She can just say the price for a full service (she may start a legit massage before mentionning it). She should propose from 1500 to 3000 RMB. You should get 800-1200. At this point, the girl will call to say what you agreed with (the mamasan as a perccentage on this price, I think). This discussion on price can take a long time. I remember, agreeing on a simple HE at low cost. The girl started the massage and re-opened negociation after 15 minutes: be patient, your wallet will like it!

3) If you like the service, you can take her phone number for further use, to get a much better price, say 500-700 because you avoid the mamasan (but this requires some basic skills in Chinese).

[A variant of 2 is that the mamasan comes with the girl to discuss the price and service. ]

I think that at 2) you could simply say 'no' with a convincing voice until the girl calls to say that you don't want more than a simple massage. Once the mamasan is convinced that you will not pay more than the 200 to 400 for a legit massage, you can then start the real negociation at a better price, say 600-800 (no percentage for the mamasan except for the basic massage). I did not try, but I think that this should work.

Whatever your choice, take the phone number of the girl who came for further use.

If its at a hotel, or even if its not, they'll wait about 15 minutes, go in, ask what you room number is, and go to your room to question you. They'll prove that you two don't know each other by asking for your respective real names etc, remember this isn't exactly a innocent until proven guilty society.

Honestly, I didn't believe the rumors, but my associate who used to go to Hollywood in Beijing all the time for his little piece of Russia, had it happen to him and luckily the girl he was with was a regular who had been with him several times before and so knew the right answers. I've also had pleasure of the police knocking on my door at 1:00 AM for a "cursory" inspection which luckily resulted in them searching an empty room.

All in all, as far as the native Chinese go, the hobby is one full of extreme paranoia.

A squad of officer's travel around and from what I can understand, this time the crackdowns suppose to be different.

They cooperate with different law enforcement organs to make the raids using undercover officers and, well I don't understand everything but its more in deep they go this time.

They hit hotels BBS, spa, sauna, bars, clubs, everything, even a Hilton Hotel is under an investigation in southern part of China

The campaign supposes to run over a 6-7 month period of time, and from what I can understand they are changing the tactics how to handles this in the future.

This info is out in the Chinese media, all over.

So what happens after I don't know, we just have to wait and see.

Can be that everything goes back to the way it was, or?

But its big money in this so the providers will find ways, they always do.

And from what I can understand they are in 1 place around 1 month, but I can be wrong.

Beijing was first out, but I haven't followed the Beijing thread so I don't know the situation there now, but I guess we will see the same time frame in the other city's that been hit.

So I would play it safe at the moment.

Typically, "Prostate Massage" should be invasive, as Pit Shang describes, but I've never seen this in Shanghai. There's a place at the corner of Xikang Lu and Kangding Lu that offers prostate massage, but again, it's mostly an external massage.

Anyone out there have different experiences?

RTFM and plan on trying them out. Could not find a clear directions or address with street name ohter than Nanyang Rd.

Personally, i personally think that the raid is taking place seriously.
And i also notice some low profile Sauna are temporary closed, e.g. 18.

In Shanghai last Friday. Called my contacts in Sauna and they all said that be careful at least till after November. Squad checking fairly often and the insiders from the force alert the sauna owners to lay low.

I have one contact here, I'll hook up with her soon and find out what I can as well. There's one place I've been to a few times that doesn't seem to be reviewed much. By experience, I have noticed that in Shanghai, I get much more success than anywhere else! For a while, I thought that this was just due to money, but now I realy think that there is something else: we are exotic

Exotic, by hair, size, nose (very amazing: all Chinese girls like my big nose!)

You just need to smile, to speak English very slowly, compliment them for their English, have a drink in a western style bar,.

And you will probably discover that you can get them in your bedroom without money. Just my piece of advice: turn off the light, this is the key point, as all these young ladies don't want you to see their body I also thought that it was stupid, but removing clothes is much much easier, without light.
