Aside from it's high score on the mongering chart (see Haven's post below) it is a good place to actually vacation. The waterfront hotels and condos are relatively cheap, with beaches, good bars and restaurants at your doorstep, and the vibe at sundown can't be beat.

Shopping and exploring in PP and a great beach dinner in Cabarete. It's all there.

I'm always faced with the same decision when I go there, to shack up with my GFE's apartment in a small town 10 hours away from Sosua, or have her meet me at my favorite bar in Sosua.

Nowadays, after 7 years, it's getting pretty consistently the latter. It's a vacation for both of us.

The clincher is the fact that a lot of her relatives and friends from Charamicos, la Union and Abajo, staff the restaurants, hotels and bars of Sosua, and so it's like being at home, and among friends.

And, I do enjoy the Sosua chica parade, and occasionally get an extra day or so to sample the local talent :)

There's no problem with taking her to Classico and Rhumba, because she wouldn't be seen dead there. Likewise she is uncomfortable if I introduce her to other mongers I have met in the bar, or on the street. She wouldn't do a threesome for me with another chica, no matter how much I offered her.

So although I'm her foreign gringo, she does have standards and limits, which I respect in a weird way. They have a strange idea of morality down there, and that goes for her family too, but I love it!

Always hate to leave, always want to go back!

Arrived yesterday (Tuesday) I checked into Las Palmeras. Las Palmeras is the old Hotel Don Antonio. I have never stayed here before. I booked the hotel because my friend recommended it to me after I told him I needed to do a trip on a budget. This in fact is the first time in over 50 trips that I find myself on what I consider to be a budget trip. The hotel is located on the same street as New Garden, but it is on the corner close to the main road and right across the street from the Metro bus station / farmacia. At $40 a night I didn't know what to expect. I am a big critic of shitty hotels. But I have to say that this hotel delivers well at this price point. In February on this year, I stayed at both new garden (old building) and Terra Linda. Now I feel like both Terra Linda and New Garden (old wing) are over priced. My room here is better than the rooms that I had the other 2 hotels. I'm not saying that the room here at Las Palmeras is great or anything but it is better. Plus I am saving 25 to 30 dollars per day compared to the others.

So after checking in and making the standard supply run at the supermercado, I come back to my hotel and Elizabeth is just getting off her moto to come see me. I was thinking "Damn, I have never seen a Dominican on time like this. We go to the room and catch up. She has been a friend of mine for over 8 years. Later we drink some premium scotch and the fun begins. I usually don't start my trips off with a visit from Elizabeth. I usually see her towards the end of my trips and she is usually the high light of trip. One of the reasons she stands out is because she always gives me a porn star experience and she let's me make a video of her. I love how she looks right into the camera for the money shot. After making our movie, we agreed to get together again before I leave. Later, I ate an early dinner at Baileys and went back to the room to sleep.

At 8:30 I went to Rumbas to check out the start of the action. Action. What action? Rumbas was dead as hell. WTF! There were a lot of closed or dead bars all over the place. So, I hoped a moto to explore the bars close to Europa Hotel. At a bar across the street from The Four Roses Bar I met a chica named Mary. Mary is a flaca blanquita, with Chinese eyes, and blonde hair. She had one side of her short blonde locks shave off. She reminded me of the porn star Skin Diamond (just the hair). It you don't know who Skin Diamond is, just Google her. Anyway, we had good "Qumica" so we head to the room.

Once inside the room I put on some music and she is drinking and dance and going crazy. I get my phone to take a picture and she told me "stop and wait. " Then she takes off her dress and strikes a pose. I thought "Oh shit, I think I'm going to make another Porno! So we were dancing naked and out came the camera. Then she said it again "wait. " This time she gets on her knees and put my dick her mouth. It was right then that I knew I was going to keep this chica Toda La Noche. We fucked, drank, danced and made movies. Around 11:30 we decided to go to Classicos. On the way I could see that Rumbas and the other bars were still dead. Inside Classicos, it was dead also. I was really glad that I already had a chica for the night. After drinking and dancing there, we went back to the room for more movie making.

In the morning, I fucked Mary long and hard. The treadmill that I bought is paying off. My stamina is 10 times better than before. When we parted ways Mary asked me to meet here at the beach because she is going to Santo Domingo this evening. I declined the invite, but I have a feeling that I will see her tonight on the street or in the club. It been one of the best starts of any trip that I have had so far.

On a different note. This place is fucking dead. Obviously you can still have a great time as I did last night. And I know last night was Tuesday, but this place has been slowing dying since I first came in Jan 2006.

P.S. I hope nothing in my trip report starts any kind of a debate. I'm just telling my view from my perspective for entertainment purposes only.

I think the current heat wave and drought in the DR is sapping everyone's energy. Someone told me today it was 100 degrees in Sosua and it definitely felt awfully hot. How many chicas total do you think you saw out last night?

Just returned from Sosua 2 weeks ago and I must say that the place is a bit hard core.

Some observations:

* Most girls were in the 5 -7 range as far as looks are concerned.

* Many of the girls are Haitian and aggressive.

* Streets are overcrowded with cars and motor conchos at night. Its too loud to enjoy a walk down Pedro Casante after 10 pm.

* Police cars begin patrolling the streets at 9 pm.

* Beach is mellow and not over crowded.

* Currency rate was $1 = 44 pesos.

* Good food is available at reasonable prices.

* Most of the tourists were Italians, Canadians, Afro Americans and Germans.

* Not much to see in Sosua after 3 days -.

My only hang up is their bathrooms. Anyone walking by can just look in and see what's going on in your room. There's no way of closing the windows. But for $40 per night you are saving money and have a good location.

I managed to stick some papers in the shutters to keep them close. But an even easier fix. Is to just close your bathroom door and no one can see in your room. Las Plameras is not perfect by any means. What bothers me more than the shutters not closing (the window does close without a problem) is that fact that there is no dead bolt on the door. It has one of those easily picked door handle locks on the door. Terra Linda has that same kind of lock I don't understand why owners wait for someone to break in to a room before they invest in a cheap dead bolt lock.

On a different note Rumbas has come alive and has a half decent crowd. The quality of chicas is really bad. Tonight I see a lot of fat (not thick) chicas that I would even date back home. But I know that some people love them chicas. You can't knock the hustle. It's a numbers game. Remember this is just my point of view.

I have an Elizebeth / Mildre that use to service me. I had to back off of her because she would drain me. When she was through with me I had nothing left in my body. In truth one of the great things about Sosua is you can always find a girl that can blow your mine. Early in the week can be a bit slow. Europa is also 40 a night and I like the rooms.

You'll have lots of action before long. Don't forget to let us poor jailbirds know!

If there were another small town with a place like Classicos, and also the variety of quality restaurants as there are in Sosua, with a nice beach, and everything within walking distance, I would not be in Sosua.

If Costambar had a Classicos (meaning a single good nightclub option that stayed open until 2 am (everything in Costambar closes at 10 pm), I would prefer to stay in Costambar. BB does not do anything for me, and yes I stayed there for 4 nights on my very first trip.

As a matter of fact, if there were a place like Casa Cayena and Classicos in Cabarete, with everything within walking distance I would just stay in Cabarete. Cabarete has a lot of Europeans and regular family vacationers and the only hotel I liked there is the Millenium, but the prices are high, it's not quite chica friendly. But if it were all inclusive I would stay there.

Why? Because many of the chicas who decline to come meet me in Sosua would have no problem coming to Cabarete.

I have stayed here a few times before. It really is a great all inclusive with about 5 different resort hotels all within the Lifestyle Resorts Complex.

I prefer the older one, The Tropical hotel within the resort complex because it is steps from the beach and has a free wifi area there.

Right now, for low season in October, Travelocity is offering a great deal of $87/ night, for 2 people, all inclusive and you can cancel up to 24 hours before arrival, with a full refund. That's all booze (poor quality local brands, but wine and beer etc during meals), all meals, all shows , drinks and entry to disco , and unlimited booze and of course accommodations. They have like 12 pools within the larger resort complex and something like 18 different restaurants, a show every night (quality varies) , and the Ice Discotheca open at 12 midnight and is open until like 5 am.

All of the above, is included in the All Inclusive price!!

The best show nights are on Thursdays (The Carnaval show) and on Sunday nights they have the VIP welcome party and show with grand Buffett dinner outdoors. Both nights are awesome.

You cannot change chicas, so whoever you go with would have to stay with you for the duration. Must be over 18 with a cedula or DR issued photo ID.

I've had two different chicas there, and they love it. Being a registered guest seems to do something for their self esteem (and sex drive). Taking your bikini clad chica from your ground floor patio deck into a large cool AC room, is so easy, compared to hustling them back to your room from town, after you've locked down your shit.

Booked through Nolitours, it's amazingly cheap. I can get a oceanfront room for two with my non stop airfare from Canada thrown in for something like 1,000 U.S.

The bonus is that you can easily get off the plantation, and are only steps from monger heaven, if you should get there early, or stay an extra day.

However, assuming you have stayed at Lifestyle, I just cannot see how the 2 are comparable? I would rate on 1-10 scale, Casa Marina at 3 and Lifestyle a 8. You might have a different view / rating.

BUT, you are 100 percent right about the Sosua backup options. I most likely will go there with one of the chicas I already know, and am cool with. And I will tag on Sosua, before or after.
