moving to grand president shortly with the gf although internet is not free on latest package deal (bummer)!
so won't be as good a deal as ll.
oh ****, i've just moved into the gp, and the lan cable web access speed in room is very slow. its hard to take at 250 baht per day after immaculate download speed for google maps at the livingstone's lodge (and that was free).

Johnthescot
Yeah, got to stop these business class flights so I can afford a round. On second thoughts. Fuck it. I like business class. Nice to be separated from the scum in cattle class.
Enjoy your kuwait flight by the way, I think it gets about a 2 star airline rating. Be lucky if the fucker gets off the ground.
Okay, we are now agree that Majestic suites is the GMV. Of BKK hotel. At the corner of Sukhumvit soi4 there are Nana hotel and Dynasty Inn and the room cost is about the same M. S. 1300 baht. I haven't got the opportunity to check out them because I just like the M. S. Price with a safe box in room and a breakfast to crash in the morning. The M. S, lobby has a great view to watch the Sukhumvit scene while drinking morning coffee and read the newspapers. I shall come back the MS. Later this year.

Yeah you flash git!! Hope you enjoyed your £1500 seat. I would do it but I'd rather leave more cash for paying for new 'best friends' in LOS while you're enjoying the lovely Scottish summer (for non UK residents that means it's just like LOS, lots of rain except a lot colder!!)
Actually why dont I shag lots of really ugly girls and send you the photos? Then you'd feel like you were almost back there again :-)
How annoying am I going to be next week when I'm there and you're not!! Withe the constant email reminders!! It's going to kill you mate!! :-) Heehee!!
I had made reservations at the Aspen Suites off Soi 2 and was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a room with more floor space. I paid about $90USD/night total for a suite that is large and simple decorated. It had a small living area, a dining nook and a medium sized refrigerator with a microwave. Closet space is fine but I found only 4 hangers and the bathroom is not all that large as the Dynasty Inn Grande but is functional and looks nice. There is a king sized bed with another flat screen television in the bedroom along with a small desk with free internet that has one of the better connection (100 base) I've seen in Thailand. There is an in-room electronic safe. Cotton robes and padded slipper provided.
The layout is a little odd as one enters the hotel entrance door and immediately back of it is the front desk. To get to the elevator one must go around the front desk and walk a short corridor then through the dining room. To get to the pool and exercise room one must exit the sole elevator and walk through the dining room. The pool is in complete view and adjacent to the dining room.
There is nothing much around the area of the hotel and a hotel tuktuk will run the guest to Sukhumvit Road. My guess is this hotel is about 100 yards inside of the Majestic Grande. So far my evaluation is that the Dynasty Inn Grande best fits the profile for myself but the Aspen Suites is fine for those who elect privacy and a buffer from the noise.
All of my guests loved the room and bed with comforter and four large pillows and voluntarily extended their stay until after sunrise. Breakfast was okay but boring and not as exciting as that offered by lower cost places like Eastiny Plaza on Soi 8 in Pattaya. I may return to stay again but my preference is still the Dynasty Inn Grande on Soi 6.
Just returned from from a great two weeks in LOS. Stayed at the Grand Business Inn for a couple of nights. Overall a good experience. Brought two ladys from Therma one night and no problem. This was my third stay there and the rooms are starting to show some wear and tear. Mildew starting to show and the bathroom floor still gets wet after a shower. Beds still hard but I like them. Rooms can use a fresh coat of paint. Set breakfast OK but boring(same same everyday). Weird system to use safedeposit boxes. Great location. Will stay there again.

I would stay there if the beds weren't so hard but O.K. for some. A bit noisy in the area too.
To many people this isn't the main criterium, but its for me. I want to be able to sleep quietly throughout the morning, without too much noise.
Of course, no one is immune to noisy neighbours, could someone give me their opinion of generally quiet Hotels ?
Dinasty Grande was quiet, most of the time, but it become expensive, and i must choose another one, the Inn SalaDeng that i mentioned before is still a mistery, Majestic Suites has been mentioned a lot here, the prices are nice, it has Internet, but i wonder if location (in a very busy street), doesn't make him very noisy.
Are there other options ?
Thanks in advance
Montecristo
Citichic is quite for me and rates are reasonable unlike Dynasty Grande and no issues with visitors. Breakfast comes with room although you have limited choice. Internet is free. The only issues I have with Citichic are the air con which I find too cold for my liking and the controls are not great and second is there is some kind of aroma coming from the bathroom. I think it has some thing to do with the sewage piping in the hotel.

I have stayed at the Conrad probably two months over many trips. Its now very expensive against the rest of the market. But its an impressive stay in many ways on par with the Penninsula. The best thing to do if you are stayin beyond 28 days is to call the hotel and speak to the rate manager. Otherwise, I would look at a serviced apartment for the same money that aren't such big names commanding the price.
Let us know what you end up doing.
Gentlemen,
I was thinking about booking Fraser Suites on Sathorn or Conrad Residences for a month long stay in BKK ( boss pays ;-) )
I checked the Forum but did not find any info on them.
Would anybody be so kind and tell me if these places are GF and share any other relevant info?
Thanks a lot.
I typically stay around Sukhumvit. Did try the Peninsula and other Riverside hotels a few years ago. But this time around a funny thing happened. I had booked the Dream hotel and started looking for plane tickets. The price went up more than 30% in just a few months, probably because of the fuel. But while I was looking I saw an unbelievable deal (which appeared to be a mistake, and it was) for a package - 14 nights in Shangri-la (most expensive room - not a suite) and a flight - the total package for about the same as the flight by itself would cost me! I booked immediately and they caught on, but changed their pricing after I received my confirmation, so there was very little they could do about that. Just to give you an idea, a package which appeared on their web site after they corrected the pricing was $ 4,500 more that what I had paid. The $ 1,490 was the total expense for me. However, now I have other concerns. Shangri-la is typically guest friendly. But I'm staying at their Krungthep wing, with a butler on every floor. Sounds like an Oriental. Does anyone know anything about it? Did anyone stayed at their Krungthep Wing? I don't want any hassles bringing my guests in. They charge the same price for single and double, so even though my package is for 1 person, I have contacted the hotel and made sure it's a double room. I would prefer to stay around Suk but...I'm saving $ 1,600 by not staying there and getting a great room (near BTS) at the same time.
I've stayed in Shangri-La Bkk in march - april and can confirm it's totally gf. I didn't stay in Krungthep wing but, as you have a connection between the two wings, I often used Krungthep wing entrance in and out with girls as this is nearer to the skytrain. I was never bothered by any of the doormen.
If you have a problem with this you can use the normal Shangri-La entrance and go to Krungthep wing from 1st floor.
There is another entrance coming from the ATM and their shops but I don't remember the exact way.
By the way I think under normal condition Horizon Club suite is a better deal than Krungthep wing. I use to get suite No 2432 automatically (they know me) which is last on the left on lift exit. Nobody bothers you there, even with two ladies.
If you need a driver ask for Chan with E-class. He's very discrete, friendly and can make you a price on an houerly basis.
Hope this helps.
