Sorry to break the useful info here, but I saw a news report a few days ago about an earthquake out in the ocean off the coast of Davao. So did you guys feel the shake at all? Did you even know about this?

Keep up the good info, I'm on my way back soon and Davao is on the list.

I didn't even know about the quake until I received a text message from a friend in the states asking if I was okay. I had no idea what the hell he was talking about and must have slept right through it. I've been through a couple of very minor quakes here, but nothing that did more than rattle the coffee cups.

I was surprised there was no feed back on the photos of Cherryl & Leonie I posted. I consider them both very beautiful women. Apo View and Casa Leticia are the best for location and Casa Leticia is the better of the two. Galleria is also good but a little further away. if you make your reservations 4-8 weeks in advance you will no problem getting a room. Marco Polo, my favorite hotel by far, is next for location but is very expensive. It is across from the University where May is enrolled and is teeming with gorgeous, young co-eds. If you can afford the price, it would be a good choice if the others are unavailable (or you want pure luxury).

You have your hotel so you NOW need to get to the internet. Sign up with Filipina Hearts for a one month gold membership ($25) and get to work meeting women. Include a good photo of you showing ALL your positive points. Have a webcam so the women can see you when chatting. Also do as I do and work the Yahoo Chats for the Philippines. Just get in there and start chatting. Ask if any ladies are from Davao, keeping in mind also that General Santos is only 3 hours away by bus and Butuan is 5, Cagayan De Oro is 7 and Iligan is 8 hours.

In 2 weeks' time you should have met 20-30 women on Yahoo chat ALL living in or near Davao City. On FH hearts, if you work it, as many as 100. I was in Manila for three nights last week and only got back to Davao on Saturday. I stayed again at the Oxford Suites, directly overlooking the sounds, the sights and smells of P. Burgos St. and again, I was impressed by the hotel and thoroughly unimpressed with the surroundings. I've already recounted the countless pleas by street vendors to buy and try every counterfeit piece of merchandise known to human kind including, I hasten to add, what appear to be graphic porno DVDs. I was not tempted, simple cause it's never turned me on to watch other people having simulated orgasms, just not my thing.

Anyway, on my first night there I decided, as I often do, to head through the rain and traffic congestion to LA Cafe, since I really would rather watch a pirate porno film that pay the outrageous cost of ladies drinks, bar fines and hooker rental charges of the Burgos bars. Anyway, I headed out and, as was the case the week before, LA was just not as jumping as it has been in years past. Probably 60% of the guys there were Korean and probably 75% of the good looking women had eyes only for the Koreans, so for the rest of us, the pickings were a bit slim.

Disappointed, but not discouraged, I headed up to Amazonia and G Point, again with nothing to show and I began to regret that I had swallowed a (counterfeit) Cialis minutes before leaving LA, thinking that even counterfeit pills deserve to be used to their intended purposes. But, as it has so often in the past, LA delivered for me, in the form of an adorable 21-year old who never asked for a cent, and with whom I passed, as it turned out, a delightful evening. Of course, come morning, I did give her some money and of course, she did not object, but the experience was a thoroughly pleasant one.

The next night I worked late, and was just too tired and indifferent to go out, but on Saturday evening, since I wanted to purchase something in Greenbelt, I decided to head to the Cafe Havana area to see what I could see. It was only about 6:30 by then, admittedly too early for serious action, but there were several so-so looking women trolling the area, none of whom interested me much. I did have a coffee with an extremely good looking, well dressed real estate agent who was meeting with two clients, and I could have had dinner with her after she got finished showing them the condos or office buildings or whatever it was in which they were interested, but fatigue got the better of me and, after getting her cell phone numbers, I bailed and went back to Burgos.

I sat, for a long time at Matrix cafe, listening to tunes on my Ipod, and watching the street scene and I must admit to being sorely tempted by two or three good looking ladies of the street, but I've always been leery of such situations, and I've always been scared of their last client, so I demurred, and decided to pack it in for another day. Nevertheless, sitting there among the other old expats, swigging a few beers, listening to tunes and watching the endless ebb and flow of the street was not a bad way to pass a few hours. A sort of down market cinema verite without sound but with lots and lots of color.

I was struck, as I watched the shifting tableau, by how poorly dressed the western guys were, as if they had put together their wardrobes from the nearest Goodwill store: crummy (often dirty) shorts, cheap tee shirts, white socks with black shoes, and happy with a leer and a beer. You figure that these guys must have spent some semi-serious money to get over here, and you would think that they would have enough self-respect (if not respect for the women) to dress, if not well, then at least presentably. But no. They looked pretty much like bums, as if in coming here they not only threw away all self restraint, but any taste they may have otherwise had as well.

Come Sunday, I'm going to disappear from this board for about a month and head to Africa. I'll spend a few days in Kenya (where great times can be had) and about 4 weeks in Juba, which will probably be a bit like a monastery for me. I'll write, if there's anything at all to report, on the respective boards after I arrive.

Nice report, that. Last year, I stayed in City Garden Hotel which is right behind Oxford Suites, then later I stayed a month at Millenium Plaza (stay away from my landlord there, but that is another story). I've done five years in africa, some of it in the bush, so I'm not gonna be too surprised at anything, but I will miss the ready availability of women I experienced in Uganda, Ghana, Ethiopia and a dozen other countries. I like to dress up. Meticulos about my attire, I have my clothes made. GoodEnough told me in July of this good tailor shop on Bonafacio St, Chardon's. I had four dress shirts made of 100% cotton then but they made the sleeves 3 inches too short and omitted the removal collar stays I insist upon. After visits by GE's woman and GE himself, they got it correct and I retrieved them last week. They looked and fit fabulous and the quality was fine. Price was 1/4 to 1/5 what I pay in the US for similar quality.

I decided today to have five more made. Rema and I headed over after a stint to "attempt" to change money at the shops on the street over from the Marco Polo. This is never a fruitfull endeavor for me and this time I departed threatening to call the Police on a few of the crooks there. Heaed over to Lanang and got money from the ATM at BPI (should ahve done this in the first place).

I then visited Chardon's Tailor Shop, saw the Gay who waited on me before and told him I was there about my shirts. He said, "yes sir, you are wearing one of them". I then told him I wanted five more made of the same 100% cotton material. We picked out material and colors, had my size recheked to avoid the problem from before and haggled over price. I got a nice discount as I am "repeat business" now.

As they checked my last order to be certain there would be no problems I thought I should take seat. I places a hand on the large, glass topped table in the fitting area and proceeded to sit down. I never made it as the table heaed due south with me "tagging along". I ended up flat on my back with this huge layer of glass on me. Rema and 4-5 gays rushed to my aid.

As they pulled the huge table top off me I stood up and they, thinking it would be "punishment time", all took a dozen fast steps backward. Fortunately the glass did not break or I would have been "sliced up like pizza". As it is I had only one slight cut and I am now here posting as Rema gets her hair and nails done at the Beauty Parlor.

With so much "jury rigging" repairs here rather then discarding broken or old items, care needs to taken always.
