A pimp is a pimp is a pimp. And as someone who has spent a lot of time in the "expensive" hotels, I can tell you that the hotel management would spot you in about a minute. While they don't mind the girls coming in (good for the bar business), a pimp working inside is not something they would tolerate. In most high end hotel bars, they know all of the regular working girls. A couple of strange filipinos would stick out like a sore thumb.

Bad, bad idea to try and bring filipino girls to Bkk. Now if you can get them into the US, that would fill a serious need.

Why the need for all of this racist stereotyping?

Duni - Not trying to single you out.

Many of us deal with racism or stereotyping every day in some shape or form. Either personally, through friends and family, or in the news. It can affect the hobby as well, and should be discussed when that applies. Just not sure why it's important to offend a race when it's not necessary. I realize it was intended as a shot at one particular poster, but a shotgun is not necessary.

Just my two cents.

My thoughts exactly! Most of us can go to Thailand or the Phils, and go to each when we have the desire to do so. There's just no need for bringing girls over. There is certainly no shortage of hot looking woman in Thailand.

After all these years still have not been to any of the "artist bars" on soi 33 so one night thought I would give it a try.

I went into Lookie, Lookie about 9 PM because I heard they have some cute girls there. And yes they did.

I ordered a drink at the bar and despite; that I was only one of two customers there no one came over to talk to me. The girls all sat around a table about two feet from me talking amongst themseslves. They treated me like I was invisible.

I saw out of the corner of my eye an older lady behind the bar nudged a pretty girl to talk to me; the the cutie refused.

After my drink, I decided to get the hell out of there and when I "check-bin" was the only time a pretty girl acknowledged me. She quickly came to take my money ---then opened the door to let me out as if to say :" Get the hell out buddy, and don't come back!"

Any of you guys who are vertrans of the Soi 33 bars have any idea why I might of been treated in such a manner?

Chill, AT2. It was a tounge in cheek joke directed at T1234, who I know personally. There were no other connotation or meaning intended.

I am sure T1234 got the joke or I would have been skewered. He is a much bigger and fit fella than I am. No offence was meant or intended to anyone.

You are right that some of the Soi 33 bars do give off a cold standoffish feel. Not sure why they do that. There are some attractive woman there, but a fair number do not speak english at all. I saw a real stunner about a year ago, but she would only go with a Thai man, since she spoke no english. At least that's what I was told. I hear that those bars cater primarily to Thai businessmen, but I do see some Japanese bars in that area too.

Not sure why you got the silent treatment, but I am not that surprised. I was treated cordially, but definitely did not get a warm fuzzy feel there. Maybe some of the long time BKK Vets can chime in on this one.

I would have never thought that the Thais would go hunting on soi 33. I was always under the impression that it was ground for the Japanese, Korean and business Farangs.

I know that BF can be negotiated down, but this is still an expensive venue.

Lookie Lookie is one of the better bars in Soi 33, and they have the same rule like Livingstone's, that the girls are NOT ALLOWED to approach customers first. You must ask them to come, establish eye contact, smile etc. etc., and they will come.

On the other hand Lookie Lookie has a complete different customer group (from many other bars in Soi 33). Their customers are mostly Australians and friends of the owner, who was managing some major companies before, and then retired running this bar. It is not a typical Soi 33 bar.

I don't really know what went wrong, but I know that this bar is basically ok, no rip-off, and there are some nice ladies working there who take good care of customers. May be you try again, or you come here to Livingstone's and pick me up, and then we go there together.
