A Theory of Comparative P4P Market Prices
a theory of comparitive p4p market prices.
marcanthony's law:
"a "base level" sex worker in any economy earns about what a healthy man can make as a days pay for unskilled or semi-skilled physical labor: in exchange for a single sex act."
currently-
in the us that's about $100
in the dr it's about $12 or 400 pesos.
you say those prices are too low? i said a "base level" sex worker. by that i mean an average 18-35 female with no special skills or knowledge of the market, and in an "average location" not a resort area or a wealthy area. lots of the traffic on the usa sex guide is for less than $100. i know for a fact this is true of cities in the midwest. i'd identify a street crack ho as sub-base earning $20-$60. crack hos in the dr are also sub-base earning only a couple hundred pesos per sex act. i also know that expats and dominican guys pay about 400 or 500 pesos.
in the us, healthy illegal aliens (mostly mexican) on a daily pick-up basis are paid about $100 cash for a days unskilled or semi-skilled work.
in the dr, healthy illegal aliens (mostly haitian) on a daily pick-up basis are paid about 400 pesos cash for a days unskilled or semi-skilled work.
starting from these rates, there are increases for various market factors like being in a resort or high income area with more customers and more disposabe income. in manhattan, a girl with skills can make 2 to 5 times the us base. so too, in sosua or places in santo domingo, a girl can make 3 to 7 times the dr base.
posters have already identified a lot of factors that would shift this pattern from market to market. the various "costs" of doing business may include the risk of pregnancy, of being arrested, of being raped, beaten or killed, the risk of social ostracism, etc. the markets account for differences in these risks pretty well.
