How long time is necessary to get through passport control and customs in Bogota when arriving with an international flight? I wonder how much time I need in between to catch a domestic flight?

I'd rather have time to sit and check out the eye candy than miss my flight or be all stressed out worrying if I have enough time if the plane is even a little late. Keep in mind that you have to wait to claim your bags and take the shuttle to a different terminal.

My father-in-Law died and I know the customs in Colombia are different than that of the US and other parts of the world.

So, for a Roman Cathlalic Colombian is there anything I should send the mother-in-law?

Most in Colombia (who I know) do not carry a purse / pocket book when out for fun. When I am out with the my pockets are there's, not only for payment but to store the celullar and other thinks that do not fit into the tiny pockets of the Colombiana's jeans.

I know there's the Mejor Cola del Valle one in Cali for that region, but, just wondering when and where the national one is? This is someone whose house I stay at anytime I want. She has never asked me for anything. I have even started to make improvements at her house that she does not even want (such as hot water and electric appliances) so it will be more comfortable to my North American standards. Also a few days ago my number 1 novia in Lima was assaulted as well. She is a manager at an international accounting firm. She was at a light in broad daylight and there was other traffic as well. A guy broke her passenger side window, grabbed her by the hair and demanded her purse. Well she keeps her purse in the trunk. The only thing that was close was her Blackberry so he took that. It is a damn shame too. Do you know how long it took her to upgrade that damn phone. For years she had been carrying around an ancient artifact that she could not even text from. Why don't Latinas understand the difference between Christmas and Christmas Eve? They all think that Christmas is December 24 instead of December 25 because the 24th is when their families get together for dinner and presents. I'm not even Christian and I know the difference. Maybe I just need to start associating with smarter people.

Anyway if you think Christmas Eve and Christmas day is seen differently then you will find (at least in Colombia) that Holy week observance basically ends on Saturday and not Sunday. I have no idea why and I don't care to know but at least I know that it is so.

understand the difference but the celebration starts on the eve, maybe because the savior was jewish and all jewish holidays begin on the eve.

maybe you should be the smarter (not book smarter) and understand how it is done outside of your beliefs. my friends in the us, from various countries, do the same, in that most gifts are opened the night before.

they do not call the 24th christmas, they call it something about the birth of the child of god; if you take the time to listen to the conversations you will hear the children being asked what they received for the eve of the birth of god.

maybe if you took your head out of the books and actually observed the culture you will know more than to worry about the celebrations of the 24 into the 25. this year it is even worse because rolling into sunday means less action for you. three days you might be shut out if you did not have the right connections in advance. after all isn't this the time the family starts gathering for the 25, the 24, 23 or sooner.
