I wasn't aware there were two sizes of "El Presidente"
Actually there are three: normal (usually called "pequena") grande, and jumbo.
Anyone else think the taste of Presidente has worsened over recent years?
Stopped at a money changer, place called Rosas I think.
RUSA (in all capital letters). There are three branches in Pto Pta (on the main road, corner of Padre Granero), in 12 de Julio (near the Amber Museum), and a new one in 27 Febrero. Very reliable changers with good rates. Does this company exist outside Pto Pta?

Pip Jaeger's reports
Super reports. Really give the flavor of what it is like to those pondering a first visit.
I am glad Pip was not too idle to divide his reports around the appropriate sections. It is bit confusing because he messed up the order, but well worth making the effort to read them all in day order. The FoD report is very valuable and amalgamates all the different negative remarks which guys have made into one review. You would have to be mad to stay there now after Pip's review, and for non-resident visits it is even worse value. Amazing how quickly Dominicans can fuck something up if left to their own devices. Let's hope Blackbeards finds a good buyer or those needing that type of vacation will be fucked.
One point for intending first-timers to bear in mind if they are on a tight budget. Pip was in the fortunate position to splash the cash. Those without his budget might not be able to achieve all he did, or would have to work a lot harder at it. Threesome are not cheap. (They do not give quantity discounts). On the other hand, he does not speak Spanish. Those who do might be able to negotiate better. (2000 pesos for a taxi to Sosua? WTF?
Having said that, the actual prices he paid the chicas were very fair. I suspect he is a reasonably attractive guy, not like most of us decrepit old farts.
He only mentions one haitiana, and passed on her. Oh well.
... a compromise might be to stay at Field of Dreams. Sosua is only a couple of dollars and 25 minutes away by public transport which runs 24/7. You could go into Sosua to do whatever you want to do. You could pick up girls there and do them in Sosua in Dulce Secreto or take the back to Field of Dreams. If you fail to find a chica in Sosua you would have the Field of Dreams girls to fall back on.
There are downsides to Field of Dreams so read the posts in that section first.
I was wrong to post even this very tentative recommendation for Field of Dreams. After reading Pip Jaeger's new report in the FoD section I can only advise everyone to avoid the dump. It seems to have sunk to a new low.
Excellent reports. For future visits, just past the laundry place, the little massage place does a good massage for 600 p. They'll finish you for 1000 p, but definitely YMMV. Probably best to see if take out is available, as I don't think the bedding on the tables gets changed often.
Thanks. I had a look inside at the one you mentioned and passed by it several times a day. With one exception, I just didn't like the way the girls looked there and felt the same about the the place's cleanliness.
The MP I mentioned is just around the corner on Dr. Alejo Martinez. Called La Prima #2, clean, fresh sheets, and professional type table.
Super reports. SNIP One point for intending first-timers to bear in mind if they are on a tight budget. Pip was in the fortunate position to splash the cash. SNIP
Thanks CP. You make a good point about budgets. Although I'm careful with my money, I'm not what you would typically label a budget traveler. I work hard and play hard, LOL.
2000 pesos for a taxi to Sosua? WTF?
Failed to mention that the driver is a career army officer with a family. Someone who's worth extending a bit of good will to; Karma. I was told P1,000-,1500 was what he would normally accept (day time less and late nights more, hence the spread).
Having said that, the actual prices he paid the chicas were very fair
That's where RTFF came into play. Some did try to hit me for more, but forewarned is forearmed.
He only mentions one haitiana, and passed on her. Oh well.
Passed on that one, but did have a couple of others. It's all pink on the inside, LOL.

Imho
I want to start by thanking everyone who post on these threads for all the great information.
With that being said, I am planing a trip to DR in January with some high school buddies. I have been to Santo Domingo on my own about 3 years ago and had a great time. I was there for about 3-1/2 weeks.
I want to take my buddies to with Puerto Plata, Sosua or Cabarete. I friend of mine who frequents DR quite a bit said I should stay in Cabarete. I concerned there will not be enough talent in this area.
We are looking for top notch ladies. It is there first time in DR and I want it to be a memorable time. What do you guys think? We are planning on renting a luxury home (5 Bedroom).
I would go to Santiago because I know the girls are beautiful there but we are looking for a beach town.
Thanks in advance.
I ride out with a group of friends a lot. So here are some things you need to think about. KNOW your group. Get the fellas together and talk about the places. Do you guys want a chica per day. Do you want chicas ST or TLN. What is the highest each is willing to pay? Do you want to party in a group together or take your chicas away solo. Charles advice on keying in one 1 chica and letting her call all her girls is straight out of my book. I get them all together and tell them I have all the money. My friends only have tip money. At the end of the day I pay everybody and the coordinating chica get an extra tip. If there is a problem with 1 chica all the chicas with get a 500 peso cut. You want problems bring a group of different chicas that don't click to your nice place and watch the fireworks! Remember if you are far away from the action and everyone came together; its going to be hard to have chicas and guys (10 people) to ride to and fro the house. Chicas will want to leave at different times. You are going to have to coordinate with a set price with another cab for pick up time. I tell them they can all leave together in the cab we provide or their on transportation in the morning.
A casa in Caberete is good if you have your own security who knows what up. I would tell him he handles all the problems and if everything goes well propina for him and the end. Caberete is relaxing and smooth hunting. Its not for the frat boy type of mongering. Its for mongers that don't need to see 200 plus chicas. Maybe 25-50 doable ones. The chicas and not pushing you to go to your place after 30 seconds of conversing. You can hit the nice beach bars there and the talent is less problematic. If a few guys are late bloomers they can always just shoot to Sosua for a back of plan. When you take most chicas away from their working area they are less problematic. It better for quality and not quantity. Most chica will jump at the opportunity to come and chill with you in Caberete.
A place in Sosua limits you to mostly Sosua chicas. You are not going to meet a group of chicas out side of Sosua that's willing to go back with you to Sosua. The layout is simple. The volume of chicas are high. I wouldn't say top notch chicas but they can give to some top notch prices. If you get a place by the strip; a lot of coordinating with 5 guys is out the window. Just park the car at the place, explain the layout; and everyone for themselves. You can do the frat boy partying at our place every day with a different bunch of unscreened street chicas. Going back and forth with a different chica for ST is the MO in Sosua.
All in all you must know your group! You are going to be the quarterback. Control your team's objective. Low scoring defense or high scoring offense!
When I was with a group of 8 of my boys and they were all and happy saying "what country should we do next". "Grownman take us to Cuba with you". I told them " if yall think I would taking all yall asses with me any place other than Sosua / BC- I will be a fat Gorilla ass.

Cops out in full force??
Were they doing sweeps on the chicas?
I was at on the strip from 9 to 12 Friday night, my eyes must have been blinded by all those hot flaquitas because I did not see a muchos polices.
Were they doing sweeps on the chicas?
I was eating outside Rumbas and I saw at least 4 chicas go by on police motorcycles. They were the same girls I saw earlier in Rumbas.
It seems Rumbas and the bars close by are a safe haven.
I will find out more tonight.
Nothings changed friend, you always had guys open to new experiences and others that live in a time warp. A guy once told me that the board has a short memory and everyone has an expiration date on the board, which some guys over stay. Its always been about helping the newbie through our adventures but nowadays the newbies wants our advice but they still do it their way and have to grow that way.
Pip Jaeger great reporting dude, much appreciated.
I agree about expiration dates.
If you check my posts, I mostly show up when folks are complaining about Sosua. I want newbies to have the same kind of open minded fun that I have down there.
Let 'em turn into jaded mongers later if they want to.
I'll also come out to point out all the wasted flame wars here when my old adversaries are posting the same damned advice they crucified me for, like they just found religion.
Other than that, as long as there are positive reports, like the great ones lately, I'm content to be a lurker.
Were they doing sweeps on the chicas?
I was at the beach for 3+ hours today. The girls were out and the cops were not.
I learned today that Tommy at my favorite beach restaurant has cancer; a sad day indeed.
