Don't worry, unless you have some unpleasant physical complaint (skin condition, bad breath, incontinent, etc) or never bathe or change your clothes, you won't need any luck with the ladies in the Dominican Republic. Fat guys, butt-ugly guys, near-senile guys (like me) , can all buy a golden ticket, though they may cost a bit more than for the Brad Pitt or Denzel Washington lookalikes who can speak fluent Spanish and dance the local dances expertly.

As Roger Dodger says, there is one adult resort with onsite chicas often discussed in the Puerto Plata section that is fairly priced and about as failsafe as you could reasonably expect. Many of us started our DR mongering careers there. It is the best introduction for the less confident.

I'm not overweight and still have a pulse. So, here is my question:

I like to war shorts. I know it's not part of the culture for adult males here. It also seems that the tourists war long pants, too. Will this be a big issue for me here, other than me sticking out like a tourist more than I already would be?

People will not comment on it and you will find that others in DR will be wearing shorts. People walking to the beach do so with their shorts or swim trunks on.

They prefer older guys before they threat them nicer and provide "a more boyfriend experience (bfe)" than younger guys, most hate to be treated like a puta.

Caps and shorts are a no-no! You won't get in.

As the guys have said, you will get girls regardless, and most likely we're paying, so for sure you'll get them. But, Dominicans are crazy about style and grooming. If you're looking for more attention, or more respect, wear long pants at night. Button down shirts, or nice T-shirts with designs are also good. When a Dominican sees someone at night with shorts, you stand out as a tourist. Why not add to the girl's attraction to you? The colonge is a must, as has been mentioned. It's funny, but now I'm picking up some Aero clothes for my next trip, and I'm 52! They are cazy about Aeropostale. I couldn't wear that here, but over there, you'll get attention. I've learned over the years to refine my wardrobe, even with a steady girl there, gain the reputation. A 52 year old is not old there. Maximize the GFE experience. Now, like most guy's, I don't shave under my arms, but my girls is insisting on some trimming. I know it gets tough worying about clothes to bring, and having them ironed and all, but it's worth it in the long run, especially if you return. Dress young, with style. Paying or not, the girls love it, and notice.

For anybody who is currently in the DR, how's Emily treating the island?

New York, JFK to SDQ (santo domingo) and STI (santiago) , non-stop flights in September, $99US each way, $299US total round-trip price which includes all taxes and fees. American Airlines, Delta and Jetblue have these rates.

Many all inclusive hotels have rates under $100US in September.

I think that is was only 35$, but the total is calculated once you are about to finish booking your trip in Orbitz. The only thing that kind of sucks is you have to call them prior to leaving to get your return trip to the airport.
