I am planning to visit Europe (from US) in couple of months. My plan is to stay there for 11 days, flying in and out of Frankfurt. Normally, I'd say don't bother with Amsterdam. It is one of the worst places in Europe (or worldwide) for punting. The RLD doesn't need explanation and even the private houses & agencies are poor value compared to other places in Europe. If you had a bit more time, and have never been, I would say Amsterdam is still worth a visit.
