I know how you feel. I had been mongering for a while before my first trip to CTG and I thought LDV was a revelation. I was impressed by the amount of top talent just sitting around with very little prospects for the night much less a bunch of gringos fighting to throw cash at them. This was a while ago and the landscape has definitely changed. However, Tom Power's post is spot on, while going lower than 100, 000 peso threshold is unlikely. That said, for me, going over 200, 000 is just crazy given the weak dollar. This puts me at an disadvantage because I am not into trolling for skanks in low rent dives or picking up way pass their due date SW. My one advantage is that mongering at night is at first a night on the town with a nice bonus at the end. So I have time on my side and am able to take my time to negotiate for the best price. If a guys keep treating every encounter with a pro like it is his last time to get laid then they will continue to get gouged.

I was in Cartagena this week. Mery was in Panama, and Juan left also. The place got noticeably emptier on Sunday and almost dead on a Monday (but Monday was a holiday). I needed to switch apartments on Sunday and I walked into Torre Centaro (Mery's building) and the door guy had a couple of choice available for me even though Mery was absent. I think you will be ok if you just showed up with the major holiday over, but I agree it's nice to get a confirmation ahead of time. I really am sick of non-pros in Cartagena. I'm tired of asking a girl out and finding out her birthday's today. Tired of meeting her somewhere and having two girlfriends tag along. Steer Clear if you ask me. Stick to the pros. I understand why a self-respecting ***** monger deviates from time to time from pros and finds himself wasting his time with a "decent" girl. You get tired of the cold business-like treatment of the pro and when that young hottie at castellana smiles you get off track. But have faith if you just keep pluging away at the pros you'll find the odd pro who spends the whole night, cleans up your apartment, comes to see you on the beach and maybe even moves some stuff into your pad. I agree with Tom Power about the cost of non-pros. It can be very expensive. I have bailed out a couple of times because of it. They have a plan. And it can be expensive. By the time you add up the shopping and dinners it would have been cheaper to go to LDV. I had a similar exprience with a girl I meet in Feb from col cupid. Turns out she has been banned from the big marriage agency in Cartagena. And to pour more salt on the wound the sex was not that good.

Dating a non-pro isn't necessarily a bad thing. I dated a non-pro from BAQ for a few years and we would probably still be dating if it wasn't for me. I had no intentions of marrying her and it was best not waste her time because she deserved more. Even after the relationship ended I spent time with her and her family a lot of whom I have gotten to know and I even went to her sister's wedding last year. Let's just say BAQ , for me, is the most hospitable place away from home. They are a wonderful extended family to have in Colombia and the abuela, the matriach, is still good for some good colombian home cooking.
That said, I met her through my wingman and she wasn't a dating agency girl nor is she on any dating site. The guy she is now dating is colombian. There are some great girls in Colombia for a good guy really looking for a relationship if he looks among the right group of girls. The girl I dated is from a solid middle class family of professionals, educated and wasn't looking bang the any old dude of a plane from abroad.
Wining and dining a closet hooker who realizes that the money you spend on her is more than she would get for straight p4p that she has sex for you for "free" isn't worth it even if it gets you bragging right among your boys. Nor is adopting a poor, hard luck case with kids who is looking to be saved.

Well Fellas, I'm finally going back to Cartagena, and will be going with a friend or two. I've decided to take the advice many of you gave me, and arrange much of the trip (and Chicas) myself.
I've already sent an email to Juan asking about the availability of his Penthouse, but wanted to ask if anyone here can recommend another, similar luxury apartment (3 or 4 bedrooms is preferable) in an excellent part of the city. I'm especially interested in one that comes (or can come) with a Chef and housekeeper.
