FS, probably goes back to the original history, where Panama broke away from Colombia, and began the canal. Just sort of grew from there.
I have a couple of T-shirts I bought in Panama, one says "Panama Lo Nuestro" (Panama, It's ours), and I will purposely wear it to a Medellin casa to see the reaction. One chica said, why are you wearing that, you don't like us here" ( porque tu lo vestirse, tu no nos gusta?), all I said was it makes for good competition
I was wondering if there is a less cost hotel near the Veneto area.
I wanted to stay in walking distance to the Veneto, the Cigar Bar.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

you might be right, but the pros and clandestine brothels(most massage parlors) where just the weak link on the chain.
And it does have to do with the columbians in general, as for the columbians to enter panama, they only have to prove that they have monetary backup(like 500 cash) to enter, no visa if im not mistaken, and it was happening that there were hitman coming in the morning, doing their jobs and leaving on the afternoon flights.
But well, all hell broke lose, just try to stay out of massage parlors, and a least keep your tourism card and/or copy of your passport handy

Try the Marbella Hotel, two blocks to Veneto. They run about $50 - $55 per night, best to contact them direct to make a reservation.

well, the raids are going, latest casualty was club miami that was raided last night(if im not mistaken)
The Health Minister was part of the raid along with the mayor and some other authorities
Ive been told that all freelancers have taken refuge in the venetto, as habanos is one of the primary targets that is going to be raided soon

I think the safest bet is to bring them down to your places, though a little more expensive, but the girls might even like it since they are taken outside of the working place and avoiding been raided

Well one of my favorate places to go is Habanos and la bodeguita. I will be in the city next Saturday. Has anyone been to these places recently? I read that La Bodeguita was hit, but does it open again? So, when does everyone think Habanos will get hit. My luck next Saturday. I am staying at the Venetto so I guess I will not have to walk as far. Let me know if anyone hears anythink.

Take it easy with all the reports on raids etc. As long as you are carrying a photocopy of your passport or Temporary resident cards it is ok. All action as usual. All points.

I was in the Crown Casino in the Sheraton at Atlapa a few weekends ago. I noticed quite a few working gals (where I hadn't generally found them before).
The casino opposite the Radisson is the Majestic Casino.
Well, the witch hunt that the authorities had seems to have stopped. Now an even worst monster is raising its head.
A new law regulating the time that the bars&clubs can open is supposed to start on Oct 15th. Is as follows
Sunday-Wednesday
Max 3am
Thursday-Saturday
Max 4am
When the time is hit, the clubs/bars must close and alcohol selling must also stop, now they havent clarified if this applies to casinos, which btw are also fighting a new tax rate that is about to be applied
Is next to Oasis massage club, if you are exiting the venetto hotel take a right, walk about 2 minutes, go down the stairs, pass oasis and bingo!

...Oasis and GT. You can blame the raids or the economic slump at Golden Times, but Oasis was usually 90% local. A couple of the regulars are still there, but starting to show their age.
A new club opened up on the other side of the sex shop from Oasis. It is called Dalila's and it is like a pocket sized Elite. Except the staff and talent is completely Afro-panamanian (but I would not be surprised it if the talent was brought in from Haiti) and their price structure is designed for the weary traveller who could not bear to spend $3 and a cabride to get to GT. They were charging double what GT charges!
