I have never encountered any problems since I go to DR at least 3 times a year. No issues about money. Some do ask for more but I politely decline.

If a chica flips the script on the price, and in her upset claims she's owed more money, is that enough to get her banned from a hotel? Her upset may seem legit to the average individual trying to sort things out.

And as I've said before, sometimes chicas pull stunts on guys because they know they can get away with it. For instance. Lying to security, police, hotel staff or anybody standing by observing the situation. Saying she was promised a certain amount, and the dude refused to pay. Who is going to be believed? The chica trying to feed her family or the rich gringo trying to get out of paying her 2 mil pesos extra?

My point is, I don't think anybody really cares that much about a gringos plight / side of the story when he can very well afford the loss. In other words, they don't value the principle of the issue from the gringos perspective (especially when it comes to prostitution) but see that issue as a minor loss he should be able to do deal with.

I would think the infraction on the chicas behalf would have to be pretty severe in order for her to get banned from a hotel. But not for something like, bamboozling a John on the price? Especially since security and hotel staff are mainly interested in maintaining order, not resolving disputes for Johns and prostitutes.

How would or does the exclusion list work? Does the chica wait until security checks a list of cedulas looking for her name and picture? Arent chicas capable of using fake eye "d" or someone elses eye "d"? I would think security or staff recognizing the chica on their property would work best. But if its been awhile, the chica changes her appearance, the hotel has new security, the chica pays off security, a chica has a chance of getting back in that hotel.

Every hotel is different. Some of the chicas working the desks are pretty cold to the girls. I have been told by security at some hotels that a certain chica was mal or mafiosa. The girls are tight with there cash but one hand does wash the other in the DR. I do reccomend tipiping these guys.

To locals they are seen as lazy hookers; the same way hookers are viewed the world over (hence OldKool's observation that the hotel clerks are cold towards them). And if you think any of the hotel workers or police are sympathethic towards a chica trying to fleece a gringo for what it takes them half a month to earn, then you have another thing coming.

After all, locals are comprised of many players. Including other hookers and those associated with them. I am focusing on how those entities you mentioned tend to handle certain types of situations. Like some guy being bamboozled by some chica over price.

Are chicas getting banned from hotels for that? I kinda doubt that. I would ask a question similar to yours. You think any of the hotel workers, security or police are sympathetic towards a dude being fleeced by a hooker for what it takes them half a month to earn? Point being, the hooker or the john may both garner disparaging feelings by those in attendance, simply by the nature of their connection.

Its just with hookers it may be more openly expressed from envy in the ease of how they get paid or disgust by the nature of their work. And with the gringo it may be more covert but for the same reasons, as well as the lack of respect because us foreigners are supposedly exploiting women and taking advantage of their circumstances. No sympathy for chicas. I get that. However in enough instances hotel staff, police or security will and have advised guys to go ahead and pay the hooker, just to get rid of her.

Now why would they advise that, when they have no sympathy for hookers? Seems to me, there's no sympathy for gringo guests either. This is how a dude might want a situation like that to go down. Chica complains, about not getting paid. After all is said and done, chica is told to hit the road with only what they originally agreed to. That is what a dude would want to happen.

However, in enough instances it does not go down like that. Hotel staff, security and police stand there acting like they don't know who to believe or what to do. Police and security sometimes suggest the guy pay the hooker. Or everybody goes to the station, and now the dude may be subject to more fleecing and inconvenience. Just kicking the hooker out would have been what she deserved.

Like any resort it accounts for most of the the smiles and helpfulness you'll see.

Even guys that don't tip, in many ways benefit from the thousands of others that do, starting at the airport.

Hotel clerks and security guards are good investments. They'll help you with a problem chica.

But here's the thing.

A man is responsible for who he chooses to bring into his house, car, or hotel room. Hotel clerks, and even security and the cops don't need major drama about an agreed price for a bbbj.

A lot of puta arguments I've seen, are the fault of a guy that doesn't know how the game is played. He could be a newbie, a drunk, or even just an asshole. It seems to surprise some of you that mongers can be assholes too. Once again for the egocentrics here, a trick is in no way morally superior to a hooker. When we are exchanging bodily fluids with strangers, we are all on the same level.

We've all seen them arguing in front of hotel security, about how long TLN is supposed to be, while she's probably late already to pick up her kids.

Some of you out there might not be aware, but putas are ripped off by johns all the time. It's only natural that some of them have the scars.

If some asshole just ripped her off before she came to your room, she just might not be in the best frame of mind. She could (more rarely) even be crazy on drugs and be carrying a knife. I mean, didn't you just pull a stranger off a third world street at 2.00 am in the morning and bring her into your room with your shit?

So be careful out there! Don't be relying on a local Chamber of Commerce or the Puta Ombudsman to get you out of a jam, or to save your ass, because there isn't one.

Anyway, here's the deal. If all the mongers were perfect gentlemen, and all the putas were consistently in the wrong, they WOULD be banned, because a couple of hotels I know personally say they will not honor the reservations of certain repeat guests.

I agree on the tipping. I pay particular attention to the night clerk and the night security and try to go beyond tipping to take a moment to chat.

This may sound like a buzz kill but I agree to the price and duration via I'm or Whatsapp before I even get to the hotel and mention it to the.

Night clerk / security and get the chica to agree before I take her to the room. Also, an extension of basic norms of hospitality like a drink / snack.

Goes a long way in setting the stage for a hassle free encounter but not to the point that it is perceived as a vulnerability that can be exploited by.

Sosua is great, if you keep a weather eye out for trouble without spoiling the party, and it sounds like you do.

You are in the mainstream of guys who can go down there and have a great time, without trying to over analyze, or biache and complain.

I would imagine that management wouldn't be too happy with a girl who destroys their property, especially if the client decides he wants to fight the charges. (I know, I know. How would you guys rate the DR compared to a wall-to-wall scam country such as the Philippines (or a relatively scam-free country such as Thailand)? Confrontation with greedy police is something I don't want to have to worry about on a weekly basis. In particular, if I become a resident in the DR and find myself a local semi-pro as a regular girl or even a cohabitant (whom I rewarded at the going rate) is there any chance of getting rid of her when I want to or would I face an insurmountable blackmail and drama worse than if I had married her? They all live there full time and on different parts of the island, so they will have different perspectives. Also, if you scroll back a few pages or so you will see there was another discussion on this topic about someone wanting to live in Cabarete.

If anything, there is an entire expat community on DR1 (the message forum section). Just don't go there asking mongering questions because it is not a hobby-discussion-type forum.

DR is almost the opposite to the United States where anybody with anyone with (say) a quarter African ancestry is considered "black". In the DR, Dominicans who are considered "black" (though they would use the words "moreno / a" or "prieto / a") are a relatively small minority. Most Dominicans are various shades of "indio / a". The delusion was that their darker skin color came from Native American ancestry. (ln fact less than 2% does).

Most real "blacks" in the DR are Haitian or of Haitian parentage (two smallish areas excepted.) Most Haitians speak Haitian Creole. Is this the lingo you claim to speak? Not to worry, once you are living here you can learn it relatively easily. A helluvalot easier than learning Thai, and easier still if you speak French, on which it is based. I have been living with a Haitian girl for over five years and we converse in my pitiful Spanish and her rather limited Spanish. One of the reasons I became attracted to Haitian girls is that they spoke Spanish slowly and with only basic grammar and vocabulary so it was easier to understand.

Many of my ex-pat friends here have converted wholly or largely to Haitian chicas as with years of experience they have come to appreciate the advantages. If you like black girls (and I mean what is considered "black"on this island), you may do the same.

If you do not treat people fairly you might find yourself in legal or physical trouble, just as you would anywhere else.

US $2500 per month is ample to live very comfortably here. If you have more and spend more, do not make it obvious to locals, including your girlfriends. If you did want to break things off you can easily afford to pay "severance pay" which would be a windfall for her, but small change to you. The only affair of mine that did not die a natural death, I gave her ten thousand pesos (then worth US $300) to get her teeth done (after six months of the best sex of my life) and she was more than happy. I did not see her again for a year or so, when our paths crossed on Sosua beach. She flashed her pearly whites in appreciation and went on her way.

My first advice is to take a couple of long vacations here (say three months each) and do not spend them in mongering haunts. Try to get a feel for "normal" life here and talk to as many resident ex-pats as possible.

Meanwhile, as SavePros advised, read up on DR1.

I think you should start first with some mongering trips and see if you like mongering in the DR. Then graduate to spending more time exploring the Island and also see if you continue to like the country, the people, and culture. The last thing to do is to spend a couple of months living in the DR before making an abrupt decision to retire there. After experiencing a few months living there, you will know the answer to all those questions you have.
