Pattaya Reports

I came into Don Mueang last night from Manila. Since I don't know the DMK-Pattaya taxi ropes too well (usually I would just go outside to bargain one), the night before I decided to hit my taxi guy up on Line with my flight info. He said it would be 1300 (tolls included) to Pattaya and sent me the driver's picture, picture of the car, license plates, and phone number. But of course the driver was waiting for me with a sign when I came out of Customs. He also ran the meter the entire way. It read 1619 baht when we arrived at my place.

P. S. When I arrived at DMK, a taxi tout did approach me with a price of 1800. I told him I only paid 1300. He thought that I was offering that much to him and sent another guy to get his car. Then he said make it 1400 since it is my birthday. Point is, don't pay more than 1300 from DMK to Pattaya. I know some guys are getting ripped for more than that from Swampy to Pattaya though.

I was walking down soi 6 today. The first girl that attracted me, I bought her a drink. We sat inside the bar. She was really friendly. Actually there are 2 Tequila Reefs. One is in AC, Philippines just off Fields and the 2nd is the Pattaya one. They are both owned by the same friendly guy. I have never eaten at the Pataya branch which is a testament to the fact that Philippine cuisine is vastly inferior to Thai cuisine, but I eat at the AC branch all the time. Try the Fajitas or the Burrito plates and chase the food with a cold Mexican beer.

It has been a couple of years since I ate there but remember it being pretty good. I would go back again if I were in Pattaya and craving Mexican food.

Recently I read a review on a new place sounded good but a bit pricey in Bangkok, I believe it was mentioned on Soi 22, it is under the Holiday Inn? Although a number of better tasting places than the Reef out towards Jomtien the Reef is convenient on the lower part of Soi 7, hits the spot for the location. Watch the ladyboys opposite.

Another one will be opening in 1-3 months on Soi 11, along with another Carl's Jr. It has one of those fusion menus of made up dishes; Mexican lasagna?

Haven't tried the Mexican food because I like refried (pinto) beans with Mexican food and they only serve black beans, which I don't like. But I tried a burger there and it was good. Cheesrburger, added guacamole, with fries and a drink (Coke Zero) came to a bit over 600 baht after ++ was added, if that gives you an idea about the price level.

Regarding the discussion about begging hookers for sex in Pattaya, Mr. E et al are certainly correct. I loved his analagy with McDonalds. Of course we should not beg them to serve us! Right?

Well, we don't compare the top dollar, jaw dropping, instant hardon-inducing ladies with McD's or KFC where we stand in line and order from the dollar menu. Nooooo. Personally, we all do this there is a moderator let them decide what is proper. Neverthless, I appreciate the information when I visit Bangkok end of year I plan to give it a try.
