All I said was that I don't feel any sense of obligation to the bars to buy unwanted drinks for myself, and there is no need to buy the women drinks. I would be more likely to buy her a sandwich or a beer at the cabana, if that is what she wanted, but mostly they don't really want the beer, though often they are hungry. I don't believe that alcohol makes the sex better, in fact I think it makes it worse, especially on my side, and I don't care for chicas whose breath smells of beer and cigarettes. I do not need alcohol for beer goggles to have sex with women whom I do not find attractive. I select women whom I find sexually attractive. Of course this is purely a personal preference. Your tastes may differ.
There is a difference between your extreme analogies, beer goggles, drinking for hours to get up courage, fear of rejection, fear of conversation with a puta, fear of losing face along with extreme compulsive, obsessive behavior, alcohol and tobacco dependency, and commonly accepted social norms.
All that "fear" stuff says more about you than anyone else.
There is balance. A glass of wine with dinner, a cold beer on a hot day, with a chica, even a good cigar smoked outdoors on a special occasion does not mean one is on the road to depravity.
You don't seem to know the difference, and assume nobody else does either.
You decry puta bars, but you are not averse to trolling these same bars to find women to take somewhere else. It's hard to keep up with your elite, special tastes :)
Well, at least you like your Sosua hookers. So you do come down to earth occasionally, and I'm sure you find their own particular habits and dependencies much more to your taste :)

Twice in one day
I am in total agreement with Mr E twice in one day. The guys who come with friends are all working 40 hours plus to pay for their fun. Most are very up standing citizens. Many of them are black men. Rarely have I seen them out of order. Sometimes loud but fuck they are on vacation. I have seen white guys way more out of control with drinking and being rowdy. So please do not confuse these guys with the sad hood rats E correctly identified. Sadly they are viewed in the same light. We call that prejudice.
I just wanted to introduce myself and let you you guys know I really appreciate the information you have provided on this board. I will be visiting July 1st-5th and am staying right in the heart of Sosua within walking distance of the beach and all the bars. I have been researching over the past couple weeks and have looked at Campo and Curacao, Blackbeard's, the all inclusive resorts, ect. I was planning on going the safest route with one of the all inclusive resorts (being a Gringo) or Blackbeards, but I really want to experience Sosua. I certainly will be careful and have a good head on my shoulders but still excitingly nervous about my trip. I am going to continue to read up on the board and learn more before my trip, and luckily who I have rented from is from the states and has been traveling to DR from 20 years now and lived in Sosua for 2. He has offered to be my guide in the city. Anyways, thanks again. Now back to doing some research.
That's really nice of him, offering to be your guide in the city. Which city? Because Sosua doesn't really qualify. Everything is within a 10-15 minute walk of the Texaco. Every place you'll want to see, except for the beach is within 1 block. If he's asking more than 100 pesos for a beer, he's ripping you off.
As for losing face, I think that a lot of what we see both on this board and on the street is evidence of face saving behavior and a desire to conform to mob pressures, and while I don't want to take this into a discussion of ethnic differences, the newspapers and media in the US are full of reports of casual murders in US cities where someone believes they have been "dissed" (disrespected) by someone else. Have you never heard of this? http://www.inquisitr.com/1193129/lil-marc-dead-chicago-rapper-murdered-days-after-dissing-lil-reese/.
Would the guy who has hacked our Frannie's account give it up? Our normally sensible expert on all thing Sosua seems to have flipped out.
Or maybe he caught his GF sneaking a beer and a smoke in a, gasp!, Prostitution Bar.
Or maybe it's just his coffee?
Anyway we want our old pal back soon.
As for the "mob" as he calls them, I would like to go on record as saying in close to ten years the NJ and NY crowd have been very instrumental in my trip enjoyment. From the early days, when they had their bikini booty parties around the pool at Casa Cayena, to a couple of individuals I have met and always look forward to seeing. (If you walk around with a big smile, and the ladies hang off you, it may even be you!) I'd rather they have my back if there's trouble.
The only trouble I recall having down there was with white mongers (The Watchers, I call them) who biatch and complain, and never seem to be able to have fun.

More of a resource. He is just giving me tips on good restaurants, excursions if I would like, where I should and shouldn't go, and going out with me if I want. A lot of that I can get on here but he is from the US and has great reviews on AirBnB so I think he will be a good resource for my first trip. I did let him know I was just there for relaxation and pleasure so the beach during the day and the restaurants / bars in the evenings in Sosua are all I am really interested in. And of course bring back chicas to my place LOL.

Tits on a Bull
What we are trying to tell you is you do not need a guide in Sosua. The place is very small and everything is in walking distance. Once you are on the scene this will be very obvious to you. Two major clubs one main beach and one optional. Take 30 minutes to read forum posts and you will be an expert.

The only resource you need is someone telling you which way is the exit from your hotel. Not many excursions either. You could go to 27 Charcos outside of Imbert, Waterworld, Teleferico, or the malecon in Puerto Plata, the castle with art that CharlesPooter hooked us on to, and Cabarete. Other than that you just hang out at the beach, street, and later on bars to pick up chicks. There aren't but a few restaurants so you could eat at a different one each day and have them all covered during your stay. You would look and feel like a total jackazz having someone leading you around Sosua.

If the guide is driving you around in an air conditioned vehicle, speaks good Spanish, and available any time you need him for a flat daily fee, he could be a very useful resource for a first visit and make it possible to get out and about more than you would otherwise. I had someone like that on my very first visit to the DR many years ago. On the other hand, if he is just out to get commissions from restaurants and tour operators and finders fees from night clubs, then it is a rather different story /.

My opinion is that AirBnB is usually the wrong choice for a first time Sosua visitor. The apartment is probably not conveniently located. This puts you at the mercy of taxis or your host to go anywhere. Then you need another taxi or motoconcho to get back with your conquest.
For about the same price there are several nice hotels where everything is a few minutes away.
Over breakfast or dinner at Hotel Sosua Sunrise (formerly Casa Cayena, or over a beer at New Garden, Casa Valeria or Hotel Plaza Europa, you can find plenty of American tourists with all the information you need.
You did avoid a mistake by not booking and all-inclusive resort. They won't let you bring chicas back to your room.
... the castle with art that Charles Pooter hooked us on to ...
Thanks, but I cannot take credit. It's pretty well-known. It is called Castillo Mundo King. Used to be free entry but I think they are now charging. Still worth a visit, especially if you have a Haitian chica in tow. Take a chance to talk to the eccentric owner if possible. He lives there. So you wander into one room and it's full of statues. You wander into the next room and his mattress and underpants are on the floor. I thought it was a Tracey Emin homage.
Half-mile uphill up the turning alongside the cop shop. Take a moto unless a strong walker.
Rest assured, no one has hacked my account, and I have not changed. Sometimes I just want to offer an alternative opinion to the groupthink that tends to predominate on these boards. My interest in Sosua is as a place where you can have interesting sexual experiences of all kinds with attractive women for not very much money, not to promote any particular lifestyle based on a consumption of various types of intoxicants, love of a particular kind of music, style of dress, and so on.
My comments on this topic just started because I was struck by Grownman's odd comment that he went out very, very late at night, because earlier on the chicas were looking for drinks. I have found it perfectly easy to have sex with chicas at any time of day and never felt any need to buy any of them drinks. You can buy them drinks if you want to, but you don't have to.
Oh, and I can assure you that I enjoy every moment I am in Sosua, even though I hardly ever drink alcohol and never smoke tobacco or weed.

But yes, I originally was looking into all-inclusive resorts when deciding between Dominican Republic, Curacao, etc. But with all of the help from you guys on this forum and others I learned about not being able to take the chicas back and also about all of the much better food you can get for less at local restaurants.

I don't care if you want to rant against your favorite bogey man, if you use me as an example of your pet hates and you'll hear from me, to set the record straight.
You don't know me, or my habits, and yet you pile on the inuendo as above. It's basically the "YOU" in you can drink for hours, to get your beer goggles on, work up courage, save face, the other shit, or as above "YOU don't have to buy them drinks" to have sex with them. It's the "YOU" stupid!
For the record, I don't actually drink as a rule, only in social situations, and then only lite beer. Never drink at home if alone, never buy booze to take there or bring back, always give the guest bottles of alcohol they give us in the room to the buss boy, or the maids or the GF if she has room to stow it when we leave. The chica and I never drink in our room, except maybe for one on the patio we brought unfinished from the bar.
I have probably set a record at least a couple times at the all inclusive Casa Marina, by not having one free drink from the multiple bars all week. I only drink offsite, because (a) our "cousins" and friends are down on the main drag, (b) they don't have lite beer, which is all I drink, and (c) they serve it in small plastic cups, which is no substutute for the ice covered bottles they dress up like penguins with napkins at the "cousins" bar. Tastes good on a hot day!
GF prefers coke or Red Bull and has never smoked, in fact she was instrumental in helping me quit smoking a couple years ago. We are in bed by 10 and I can't remember the last time I was in Classico.
(That Presidente Lite she holds up at the bar when I arrive at PP is a symbolic gesture only. Let the vacation begin!) LOL.
