Yeah, he substantially overpaid and made some rookie mistakes, but it sounds like he had a great time. Most people overpay on their 1st trip. Hopefully, he will learn some Spanish and develop better negotiation skills in the future. I thought it was a nice report for a 1st timer to Sosua.
I highly recommend devoting some time to learning basic Spanish before your next trip.
I paid around the same prices couple of years ago. I remember every night TLN cost me around $100 to $150 and I remember a chica who I really fell for telling me $100 is nothing anymore. I am visiting again next month, I'll try negotiating better this time. The fear I have is the service may go down with lower prices.
Also does anyone know a beachfront hotel that is chica friendly.
Thanks in advance.

I believe this guy went to a place called Sea Crets or something like that. I got ripped off my first night there by someone there that spoke good english. She never mentioned Salida and at the end of my rendezvous she wanted extra money for the Salida and she didn't stay the whole time she said she would.
But hey this guy paid 100+ and got 1 night of fun. More power to him.

Yes he paid to much, but it seems he had a realy good time, and he wrote a good report, so what's the big problem ?
I am new. I am going there soon, I was curious, I wanted to pay the chicas in pesos. Is that okay? Or do they prefer US dollars? . Sorry, I am a little confused on what type of money I should be bringing to Sosua. Pesos or Dollars. Is it good to bring both Pesos and US Dollars?
It is your choice, so long as you know what you are spending. As for me, I pay for nearly everything in pesos. I tip the porters in US$1, as well as pay for the publicos and motos with US$1. I do the latter simply because it is easier to hand them a US$1 rather than count-out RD$35 or so.
The fear I have is the service may go down with lower prices.
The service does not have to decrease with the lower costs. Avoid jumping right into the girl's pants. Talk to her, a little. Find out about her. Buy her an ice cream cone. You may be surprised how you can command a lower price by romancing her a little.
-
My advice is keep it business like unless you like her so much you want her to be your novia.
Romancing a hooker shows your weakness and they will try to give a little and try to take more. In latin culture man being firm has its advantages.
Girls understand this.
Do not think by being friendly you can pay her less. You may get better service.

Anyways here's the chica that said $100 is nothing.

A CHICA YOU FELL FOR? Please, try not to fall for these hardened pro's. These girls are all pros in Sosua and will tell you any kind of bullshit. 4500rd TLN's? Holy crap I think im gonna puke. Didn't you have any experienced DR mongers with you to help guide you? I hope you didnt become a WU NOVIO.. $100 is nothing anymore in the DR? Sounds like you had a REAL Experienced PRO. Dont be affraid to tell her to walk and explain to her that there are 1000's of girls you can get for 1000pesos st and most late at night will go for 1500-2000 very max TLN. At least you found this forum to help guide you. First impressions when you first meet a chica and how sweet she is when you chat can usually give you a good idea on how she will perform in the sack. If she starts right away about money and has all types of "rules" for you. Leave her there standing by herself.

Pay only in pesos. Never upfront.
Local ST price is 300-500 peso.
Bargirl makes 6,000 peso in a month, non skilled male worker - 9,000 peso.
Never paid more than 2,000 TLN.
I remember a chica who I really fell for telling me $100 is nothing anymore.
For those of you who can't make the connection (and there are many of you here) this is the result of overpaying.

Thanks in advance.
Kman, you have to read up on the boards and get the advice of others before taking on this game. The girls will tell you that the going rate is $500 TLN if they think they can hustle you. That doesn't mean you pay it, you should just laugh it off. You need to take charge of the game. If they tell you $100, then they want to see what you counter with. You tell them $30, and eventualy you settle between $50-75 TLN. They expect you to bargain, and if you don't, then they think of you as a sucker. Nobody wants to be a sucker--I'm sure you don't.
You are not offending a woman by low-balling her. There are times where you may have to walk away from a potential deal in order to keep your financial integrity intact. It's all in the game. Obviously, any man has the right to spend his money as he wishes. But for your own benefit, I would seriously consider ths advice. Be safe. Be smart. Be happy!

WTF is with paying $100-120
8 weeks ago we were paying from $9 for an hour or so during the day to $60 at night with unlimited takers and good lookers as well
Bring back the Germans...they know how to keep the prices DOWN
Unfortunately, the Germans will never return to Sosua, at least not at the numbers they we 10 years ago.
Actually part of the problem now is the value of the Euro, so while someone from the US pays $100, it is consiterably less for someone from the EU.

The Cien Chica
Thanks. My skills when it comes to romancing is not that good, thats why I frequent places like Sosua. Anyways here's the chica that said $100 is nothing.
Well, Kman, she is cute. However, I simply do not pay cien. Now, getting back to my previous statement, I may have bought her a beer, chatted with her for a bit, then gone for the ask. I tend to use the "poor college student" line, although I use graduate student since I am beyond the "college age" and the girls are not stupid. Do not mistake me, by romancing I do not mean a five-course dinner at the local Italian restaurant. If the girl appears to like you, sometimes a beer or ice cream does the trick (no pun intended). Just be firm in what you will or will not pay. Also, do not be afraid to walk. I told one girl in Sosua, after we finished our beer, that I was so sorry to offend her but only had RD$1,200 left. You guessed it, she took it and added, "only because you are a nice guy." You must think like a woman in these parts.
