That I have come to is this: when you criticize another on the board for the amount of money he spends, you're older, financially limited, and came to Medellin seeking the best bargains possible. This behavior demonstrates what individuals on fixed incomes do. Younger guys spend more because they feel they can recoup money spent or compensate in the bedroom. Why would you travel abroad with limited money, and then want the best deal possible? It's called greed and clearly demonstrates the same behavior of old America. You will never catch me bashing any monger for the amount he spends, that's his money and I'm allergic to pocket watching. There was once one group of people who felt it was perfectly fine to work another group of people and not pay them at all, until laws were changed. The opposition shown on the board clearly details the behavior of the majority. My 2 cents is this, spend a little, enjoy yourself, never worry about the majority, just do you. On another note, there has only been 2 people from the board who has actually introduced me to girls from this board, Wolf and Rodeo 9112. In nearly 6 months of post, all I see is fixed income gringos complaining about how financially stable mongers spend their money. And that's a shame, if you're in Medellin with limited money say that, your rebuttal and posts show that you're stingy and tight with currency anyways, post more girls and less arguments. My experience is different from the average person on this forum. Most visit for a few days or weeks, do the same things every trip and have a very narrow exposure to the people and the country. No matter how many times you've visited, you are only seeing a small subset of the people.

A few know my story. I went to Medellin early April 2017 for a business opportunity. Unfortunately, it never fully came together. At the end of March 2018, I threw in the towel and returned to the states. My consecutive time in Colombia fell 2 weeks short of a year. During the first 10 months I had a Colombiana roommate. I spent time with a lot of people in non-mongering situations. I visited families and took Spanish classes. I also visited the casas, strip clubs and red light streets, and pulled many girls from Facebook.

During my time I got to really know quite a few people. Most of them don't fit into your "truisms."

2. My interactions with the police were nearly non-existent. None of the encounters were a problem and I didn't personally witness any police behaving inappropriately.

The average paisa is honest and proud. Several times I've had people chase me down because I had paid too much, or forgot my change. Quite a few taxi drivers refused a tip of whatever coins they needed to give me. Usually just a few hundred pesos. People on the metro warned me that my backpack was unzipped, or that my phone was in my back pocket. One day, extremely low blood sugar caused me to pass out on the metro. Someone ran out to keep the train from leaving the station. Someone else ran to get help. Several other people helped me to my feet. A metro employee brought me water and sat with me until I felt good enough to leave the station.

3. Paisa women are as full of drama as US women. Some are, some aren't.

The class system is ingrained in the Colombian culture the same way that racism is ingrained in US culture. However, the discomfort has little to do with economic class. Mostly it's about lack of class. When 2 old gringos are sitting in a nice restaurant, talking loudly about the girls they fucked that day, while groping their dates, who are dressed like they're next on stage at Conejitas, it makes the families around them uncomfortable. When 2 old gringos are sitting with 2 appropriately dressed young women, having a normal discussion, nobody gives them a second look.

I've been in some of the best restaurants in Medellin, accompanied by 1 to 3 women at least 30 years younger than me. Nobody gave us a second look.

As for culture, Colombia has a very rich culture. It's almost impossible to avoid. If all your time is spent in taxis, casas and strip clubs you might miss it. Unless you happen to pass through Plaza Botero. For a real treat spend December with a Colombian family. To really get the full effect of the culture, you need to speak the language.

SA, which I have come to use exclusively, is mostly populated by "regular" chicas looking to supplement something. They are not hardcore for the most part. And for the most part, they do not fit the traits mentioned. Theses traits apply to the hardcore chicas. I shy away from them, hence my experience is different.

Most bars, restaurants and taxis are going to charge you the normal price. You might get quoted a higher rate for the taxi from Rionegro to Medellin, but if you look at the sign with the posted rates, you can easily counter with the correct price.

Most casas have set prices. I've sat in several and watched the GTGs (Google Translate Gringos) pay the same price as the locals. For most you pay the manager for the time you want before you go to the room. At New Life you pay at the cashier window after you're done. At Lindas Chicas you pay the girl after the deed then go pay Nancy for the room and any drinks. At Energy you pay the lady at the desk after you finish.

Elsewhere girls are going to ask for however much they think they can get. This varies depending on how badly they need the money, how attractive they find you and how they currently perceive themselves. There's probably 40 other factors involved in the decision process.

Knowing what you are willing to pay should be all that matters to you.

Unless you're walking down the street screaming "quiero putas", Colombians are happy to see you. If you behave like a normal person they couldn't care less that you're paying for sex. Unless you're arguing price in public, they don't care whether you are paying too much or too little.

How well you get along with Colombians depends on how well you treat Colombians. Treat them respect, show you respect their country, don't try to tell them how much better your country is, don't be insulting and you'll find Colombians to be some of the friendliest people in the world.

Here's a recent example. Two weeks ago a semi-pro friend messaged me about a gringo she had met. She was really enjoying his company and asked me to talk to him, because he wanted to learn some things about Medellin. Before I got a chance, she told me not to bother. The guy had made a joke about some waitress or cashier that she found disrespectful. One tasteless joke and he goes from being her "Principe azul" to being a "Bobo."

Another girl I know went from being firm on 250 k then down to 200 k, 150 k, then whatever I wanted to pay, but at least 60 k plus taxi. When she was bored she once came over and spent 3 hours for 30 k, 20 for the taxi and 10 for some weed. I've talked with other mongers who complained that she wouldn't budge off the 250.

Paying a few dollars extra isn't going to earn you any respect. It's just going to get you a lot of people with their hands out looking to get some of the money you're handing out.

To close, decide what you want to pay, then go from there. Whether you're paying the going rate, or 5 times the going rate doesn't matter. It won't affect the quality of the sessions, it won't change how much people like or respect you and it won't change the way people treat you. MDE 7/3-7/9/18.

TRANSPORTATION: UA IAH to MDE thru PTY uneventful. 30 min on tarmac in PTY coming back for no apparent reason. Taxis and Uber's in town extremely cheap. Finally, on MDE trip #4, I used the Metro. Very easy, extremely cheap and very fast. 2400 COP one way,4800 COP for a round trip. We simply held up one or 2 fingers & never had a problem. We were going to take the Metro up to Madera Station then UBER to the airport but the Hotel staff convinced us to get a private car so we did for 70 k COP (My friends driver charged us 75 k COP from the airport to the Hotel Egina coming in). On the way to the airport, our car was pulled over at a routine checkpoint by the police. We had to get out, they checked our passports & luggage, and asked the driver for all kinds or paperwork & licenses and whatnot. He told us after we were back on our way that they were searching for UBER drivers. He also said when they catch an Uber driver, the passengers have to catch a cab, the car is impounded & there is a fine to be paid. I don't know who pays the fine, driver, passengers or both but it sucks either way if our driver was telling the truth about Uber being illegal in CO.

Guatape / Peñol. We took the Metro from Estadio to Niquía Station then an Uber to Guatape for 150 k COP. Caught the bus back for 14 k COP per person the the the Metro back to Estadio. If we had known which station to get off of the Metro, we could have round tripped to Guatape for 32,800 COP each, a little over $11.

HOTEL: Hotel Egina on C47 & La Setenta (70) was recommended by a friend. I recommend not staying there. They told us we would have to pay 50 k COP for every Chica after the first one. We were ready to leave & fight with booking punto com & our CC company's for a refund as the Hotel refused to give us the refund. We had a POW-wow with the Hotel Manager, Juan T. Wed am & assured him of our discretion, no noise, no drogas, no fiestas & no loud music. He said he would make an exception for us if we left a good review on Booking punto com, which we will. The rooms were nice enough, I think I got lucky & had the penthouse suite on the 8th floor. My friend was also on the 8th floor & we had it to ourselves as I didn't see another guest in the other 2 or 3 rooms the entire trip. I think they wanted us separated from the rest of the guests! Haha. No in-room safe so when we went to Guatape I put my passport, cash & ccs in the hotel safe Sat am before we left. They told me I could only access it during office hours. What they failed to tell me was the office and was closed on Sun so I would not be able to retrieve my stuff until 6 am Monday when Juan T. Got back to work. I had to borrow Chica $ from my friend which I hate doing. If I had a flight on Sunday, I'the have been f-ed. I bitched and complained (never raising my voice) so much that they called the mgr and he cane by and opened the safe about noon or so. Anyway, very nice hotel, very nice rooms, I would have to say it is not Chica friendly tho. Also the steam sauna was awesome!!

Food: We had breakfast at the hotel each morning as it was included in our room rate. We mostly at on La Setenta for lunch and dinner at Ay Que Rico Pollo which was very good and reasonably priced. We ate at a restaurant on the town square across from the church in Guatape. Dinner one night at La Pampa Parrilla Argentina in Laureles & lunch at La Coneja in Sabaneta. Both very good but I will not make an excursion just to eat there next trip.

CHICAS: Once against Fay-Boo ruled. I also continued to have great success with Mileroticos & this trip even PhotoPrepagos. I posted links to the 2 bad apples that I had, one from ME & 1 had ads on both. Sessioned with Has the first night. TOURIST STUFF: Hit Guatape and Penol for the first time. Took una lancha (100 k COP) to Pablo's lake house and took the tour ($10 k COP / person). It was actually pretty cool if you have never been there. Every structure had hole knocked out (or into) the walls. Obviously people looking for hidden cash. The views are incredible. Went to Penol but didn't climb the rock due to my f-ed up knees. Again, spectacular views of the lakes & water surrounding the Monolith.

Pablo tour – We hired an Uber driver to take us to Pablo's safe house where he was killed, and it is now a Spanish Speaking School. The house / rooftop where he was shot is still walled off with graffiti all over it. Then we went to the Gravesite & amazingly enough, people are still leaving flowers on his grave. We then had to hire a cab to take us to La Catedral, which if you remember from my Dec MDE report, is a rest home for the elderly of MDE run by the city Govt. Again, amazing views of the city and the entire valley from his 'Prison'.

Like I keep telling my friends, each trip is better than the last & I'm already planning my next trip!
