Tansak KTV,
We had the Swimming Pool Party last night, surprisingly quite crowded, many guys and girls in the pool, party until very late in the bar.
Where have you been? You are too busy with your TGF, man, I just read your report in the Bangkok thread. You definitely suffer too much :) .

Is there a pool party 27 Dec? If so it might be the first one I could attend fully, assuming other problems get solved.

yeah I know but had a good offer and a chance to get out and take it so couldn't pass it up. I am suffering for all the poor souls who flights got cancelled as I think that my firm won't be sending me back to BKK for anytime soon.
I am just now catching up on my Thailand news and in regards to being a visitor, it is much like I suspected.
Safe to visit but much more difficult (and expensive?) to get to Bangkok and to leave Bangkok.
I am planning my summer travel and certainly hope that I will be able to make it back to Bangkok and stay at Giotto's Lodge as I have past summers.
Oh the fear, to get to the Giotto's Lodge Lodge and then to be trapped there!
: )

Dr. G:
Thailand celebrates the King's Birthday on December 5.
Will there be bar closures on this day or adjacent days in bars, clubs, etc?

No, the last few years it was always business as usual.

How would a person have known that you having the Swimming Pool Party, since I don't see it in the News and Events Thread for month of November.
Alterantively where is the RULE that tells us how to determine this issue automatically every month like clockwork?
"Special Events" on the LL website doesn't do anything at present.
We can always guess, but would like to know how to find out for sure, before iit actually happens. of course.
Mick Licker,
There is a rule - since 3 years. Swimming Pool Party is always on the LAST SATURDAY of a month.

Yes but I have a bad memory and couldn't find this rule stated anywhere. Newbies to LL wouldn't know.
So I was thinking, is it the last Saturday of EVERY month, or is it the 4th Sat of each month, or is it the last Sat of most months?
I'm getting too old.
Flyhere,
Perhaps you are leaving LOS soon. But surely you will find a way to come back.
Don't burn your bridges! Keep some contact details for those special ones that matter. Circumstances can change. You just might want to reestablish certain contacts some day.
In my case I have never been away from Thailand for more than 2 years over the last 15 years.
Bangkok is on the way (or the way back) to anywhere, for me and alwyas need a stop over.
I guess BKK is very far from USA, thats one reason why USA is my very last choice for a place to work.
Best wishes and hope I'll see you again.
P.S. I have occassional contact with a girl I first met in BKK nearly 15 years ago.

Looks like I have to cancel my Bangkok trip as there is no end to the airport situation. Will be going direct to Hong Kong instead of going via LOS.
Hope thing go well for you and the Lodge soon.

I just read on the Bangkok Post site, that AOT says they will need 7 days after PAD leaves before they can reopen the airport. And I guess that assumes if everything is left more or less intact.

Mick,
Thanks for your wise words. No, I don't burn bridges. On the contrary, I always try to make sure everything ends on a high note. Mr. G will attest to that, even though he thinks I worry too much about other people and about little things, and perhaps a little crazy. Take care, and look after my girls.

You had better PM me re which girls you want me to look out for. When do you go?

So, how much stuff was acquired, appropriated, or commandeered by PAD during their siege of the BKK airports?
Would the police check the protesters as they leave the area for looted goods?
I'm thinking that someone should sue PAD and the riches off these so-called elites and scholars for loss in business, in future revenue, in reputation, etc...
LL should lead the way...

You can always ask your Miss G, they know even more than I do, about me!
