Pedro Clisante Update July 20,2016
July 20,2016 Pedro Clisante, Sosua.
I had 2 meetings at Bourbon Street on Pedro Clisante one during the day and one at night and I had a chance to asses the situation on the ground.
Chez Mon Real the restaurant at the corner of Dr Rosen and Pedro Clisante is pretty slow during the day but it picks up at night. It has become a hang out spot for the chicas waiting for clients. Rumbas is still closed and there is construction (almost an entire section of the street is rubble) on the sidewalk in front and on the south side of Pedro Clisante.
Bourbon Street the restaurant across the street from Rumbas is alive and well. I went to meet a friend for dinner and there were very few places to sit inside because all the tables were mostly taken by chicas. There literally were more chicas inside sitting than men eating. Generally speaking the chicas order something but it's usually a beverage and rarely a full meal.
Merengue has there crowd between 9 pm and when they have to close at midnight during the week and at 2 am on the weekends. Chics walk between Bourbon Street and Merengue in a rotation looking for clients. Classicos now is only open on the weekend.
Basically with Rumbas closed significant numbers of chics have moved to Chez Mon Real and Bourbon Street. Later on in the night they move to Merengue and Classicos on the weekends. Pedro Clisante was closing at 6 pm but now it is open throughout the night. CESTUR (POLITUR) and Polica Nacional are still rounding up chics, I've heard they are hitting them between 500-1500 pesos. Chics are running up and down Pedro Clisante and sometimes traveling in groups holding hands.
There is foot traffic but not much.
