The main attraction, the only attraction for me in barhopping is finding a pretty girl to barfine, otherwise I don't see that much point to it. Today it is probably the best newspaper in Thailand published in any language and far more professional than The Nation.

But sometimes you need to be able to interpret the true meaning of news, and as I said, it keeps silent on key issues such as declining number of protesters, etc.

As to the first paragraph above, I've heard this from other sources. I also get the sense that the paper is anti-Thaksin. For example, they characterize the elites hatred for him as crooks being jealous of a bigger crook. So I wouldn't say the paper is just a voice for the elite either. I think it is trying to appeal to educated middle class sorts of folks. It make very opaque illusions to the fact that important components of these events are things everyone knows but will not openly say. As to its coverage of the size of the protests, I've found they bury this information in the middle of articles. They do report that during the day there are few protesters, only the people from the south. At night some sites, like Asoke, are more crowded when the office workers get off work. They also report that Suthep has told protesters to go about their daily lives but be ready to turn out when he calls for them. My frustration is you have to read half a dozen articles, pay attention to one or two key sentences in each, then piece these together to get a sense of what is going on. I think the are being very careful. Their editorials can be hard on Suthep, but not very kind to the government either.
