Greeting everybodu.
I'll be in Pattaya this Sunday until Friday.
I'd be glad to meet some guys there.
Thanks for sending a PM if interested.
Back in the early 1980's there was an American TV programme called "Hill Street Blues" which was also shown on UK TV, also.
A memorable line of dialog oft repeated by Desk Sgt. Phil Esterhaus(the late American actor, Michael Conrad) as he admonished his fellow officers by telling them "Hey, let's be careful out there."!
I believe this line of advice would be well suited would for this poor chap as well!

So, Beach Road mongers, "Hey, let's be careful out there!"
Am in Pattaya for first time right now...will post a detailed report in a few days....as a break from mongering, does anyone know any bars that will maybe show the Formula 1 on Sunday evening?

Good advice but these types of stories are quite normal in Pattaya. Of course the police will use incidents like this to justify cleaning up Beach Road. Like cops everywhere else though, they're never around when you need them as this poor man found out.

Feel sorry for the guy being beaten up like that but my sympathy for what he lost is a little tempered by the lack of common sense he used for carrying around personal valuables to the value of 300,000 baht.
I know it doesn't excuse his violent treatment at the hands of some local gangsters but maybe next time he ventures outside, he will only carry as much cash as he needs for the night.
This is a rule that I have used all of my life travelling around the world and even in my adopted country of Japan and my own relatively safe home country of Australia.

Yes, be careful, but really, be smart. This guy was stupid!
From the article:" After they had sex the couple went to sit on the beach."
An idiotic move to take the girl back to the beach at night. He should've paid her and kicked her out of his room.
Sorry to see something like this happen! But the guy put himself in a bad situation. The girl must have been freaked out in the beginning thinking how the fuck am I going to take all that budge in his pants?
Once they got to the room and she saw how small it was she started to think WTF, is that budge in his pants if it isn't his penis. Load and behold a wat of money! you won't see those guys around on Beach Road for a while, 300,000 baht WTF, but Thai crooks in my opinion aren't the sharpest knive in the kitchen it's wouldn't surprise me by the next issue of PattayaPeople come out they will be caught.

I can't imagine carrying that amount of cash around with me. Why. What's he got against ATM's? And to have an amount of money that you'd feel a bit nervous about having on you, and then head down to a dark beach in the middle of the night with a girl you know is surely not what any reasonable person would consider trustworthy. Just knowing I had that much on me, I wouldn't be able to feel comfortable going out in daytime. This guy, he went out at night, picked up a *****, slept with her, headed out again into the late night to a dark beach to exactly the kind of spot we all grow up knowing to avoid at night -- just one red flag zoomed through after another.

The loss was in cash and valuables, the amount of the loss was based on figures he provided. After his rescue he was still wearing his watch, guess that wasn’t worth much. Pattaya authorities have since chipped in with a 25,000.00B donation and some of the thugs have been caught.

What? Thai police DONATED 25,000 baht to this guy? Sorry, how does that happen? Why?
Where did you spot this update?
Hm. Carries 5000 Euro around in his pocket and wears a cheap watch. Go figure.

Scroll down to read the story, money came from Mayor and Pattaya Tourist Assistance Foundation not the Police.

- The victim's name is Booge Preneppe.
- The victim "told police that he had picked up a woman from the beach and taken her back to his hotel in the middle of town. After they had sex the couple went to sit on the beach."
http://www.pattayamail.com/current/news.shtml#hd10
(The 10th Headline down from the top)
- Now his name is Philippe Charles Jean Paul Bootz!
- Now the victim says he "was on his way to exchange euro into baht when he was solicited for sex by 22-year-old Kanya “Nat” Sithong. Little did he know was being set up for robbery. When Bootz, who has a family in Korat, spurned the offer"
In the details of the circumstances of the attack, wonder if the Pattaya Mail report was the result of the victim rethinking his story to the police and making a conscious decision to "save face" by appearing to be more of a hapless victim than a fool!
You be the judge!
Does anybody know a pharmacy in Pattaya which carries the new stuff? I've been probably to 10 shops so far but to no avail. They seem not to know it. Thanks.

It sounds like they found 4000 of his Euros, so hopefully he'll be getting
that back. Besides the 25G Baht it seems they may have also paid for
his hotel room.
“The victim chose to visit Pattaya and we consider him an important guest
and will take care of his accommodations during his stay.”
BTW it's interesting how he had sex with the girl accomplice in the original
story, but spurned her offer for sex in the follow up. Which is it?
