200 USD prices in Colombia
Paying 200 USD in Colombia is like paying $50 for a one way ride on the New York subway. It's way out of proportion.
If you want to spend big I recommend hopping over to the Sao Paolo, Brazil forum. There's a place called Scandaloo where you can pay those prices and get top notch porn star quality Brazilians. The club also has excellent food and top notch whiskey. What I'm trying to say is instead of paying 50 for a subway token get yourself a nice car rental. It's about value for money. Colombia doesn't have the capacity to offer you 200 USD worth of sex. It just doesn't.
I think you hit the nail on the head.
Dude that is an easy one. This has been going on since people have been mongering in foreign lands. I even have my own instances of it happening. I don't know if you have heard the ones about the US soldiers being in Italy during the war. One guy asked a prostitute how much and she held up 3 fingers. He took the chick and when he finished gave her 3 dollars. The price was actually 3 cents.
In my own instance, my first time mongering in Rio I took a chick from in front of Help. She told me the price would be 100. Got back to the room and had a nice time. The next morning when it was time for her to leave I handed her 100 reais. She wanted to know where the rest of it was. I said you said 100. Then she said dollars. I laughed at her and cussed her out. Told her the same thing I said in the other post. I am in Brazil, why would I be talking about US Dollars? She said she would get her mafia friends bla, bla, bla.
Also, I was in Ghana and took a trip with some coworkers to the Gold Coast. One of the hotel workers called up some guy that takes people on the trip. The driver said it would cost 80 for the trip. When we got back to the hotel we got our money together and gave him 80 cedi. The guy was angry and said it was supposed to be 80 US Dollars. Same spiel. Why would I be talking about US Dollars when I am in Ghana? Told him he needed to make it clear whenever he does the trip because he never said anything about dollars. We settled on giving him half of whatever the balance was..
After reading all this info about Gustos I think you are right. Some guy paid the $200, and that set the bar. Lets hope the rest of the new gringos see the light.
