Saw none of the bad side mentioned. No criminals that tried to mug me. No one trying to rip me off. Nice cab drivers with meters that where running from first sec. Cheap and working V and C on the street outside a drug store. Decent food early in the morning. Need to spend more time in Cebu.

Stayed 6 nights at Midtown Hotel - for the last time. Been staying there about 15 yrs. because the price is good, location is excellent!! This time the guard went on the elevator with me and my girl, then I found a 300p charge on the bill when I checked out. I protested, and they said "after 10pm it is our policy". I said, "we just went into the room so I could get something, then came right back out. The guard did not stay long enough to see that." Anyway, told then I would pay, but not stay there anymore, plus I would tell my American friends not to stay there any more. Just for you information.

All you have to do is book a room for 2..same price as I recall.

I just stayed there a couple of weeks ago for 5 nights and no problem.

I stopped staying at the Midtown about 4 years ago. I like the location, but I've had Some events with the staff and management in the hotel that stopped me from going back. I now look for a deal on the Internet for the Marriot. It cost more than the Midtown, better mall next door and nicer rooms. I 2nd it for everyone, don't stay at the Midtown. It's a short Taxi ride down to Mango Dr.

Yes, with the new addition to the Ayala mall Marriott certainly has become more appealing. I would suspect the outdoor seating in front of TGIF has a lot of potential.

How much do you pay at Mariott? Walk-in, I was quoted over US$100. I declined.

I tend to stay at Holiday Plaza which has basically the same location advantages of Midtown, but the place is getting a bit ragged.

Usually I do one week in Manila and one week in Cebu, at the Midtown. Been doing this for the last 5 yrs. Now, IF I go to Cebu, will certainly change hotels, but also been thinking of changing cities - maybe CDO. Or, one week in Malate, Manila, next week in Makati, Manila. Eliminate the plane ride altogether and see a different set of girls, maybe a few days in AC.

Does anyone know a good hotel, not to expensive but ok?

And if you can tell me good place to go.

What is your budget and what is your purpose? Have you read the earlier messages? What places look good after reading the other messages on the forum?

I booked through asiatravel.com and I got a two bedroom, two bath, deluxe suite for $88 a night at Crown Regency Suites Mactan. A friend and I share the cost and we have a living room and kitchen. If you have a friend is it nice to go back to the room and party and then each can go to their own room.

I keep going back to this place. Sure it's not perfect but you can get a decent sized room, discrete service, buffet breakfast, excellent central location and friendly help for about $60 thru online services. If you just walk in just say "you always give me the 2100 peso rate. " that usually works. I've done a lot of comparison shopping and I keep going back here.

Thanks for the pics and review. That big mirror belongs in the bedroom of course. And that is an odd looking bed. The mattress looks extraordinarily thick.

There are some cheaper hotels but I like to spend a little more and feel good where I am at. If you want cheap and really close to everything check out eddies hotel it is within walking distance and ok for the cash. The diner in the hotel is pretty good also. I might be able to set up someone to show you around also but I will do some checking. I go to cebu about every 4 months.
