I have no need to convince myself about the difference, or where the line is. The girls I give money to are P4P. The ones I don't, aren't.

The all purpose cover-all-bases general look Farangs might want to attempt to emulate listed below. Of course blokes that literally look like that wouldn't ordinarily be in Bangkok working the P4P scene in the first place. But hey, one has to always try.

The longer I am here the more I realize that in order to thrive here you have to buy into certain aspects of the culture. Like it or not, in Asia we are judged differently than we are in the West. Does not matter whether it is right or wrong. It just is. You can deny and buck the Asian way as long as you like, but it is not going to change for us, and after a time trying to fight it gets, well, boring. Again it is just as easy to fall for and date someone with some education and graces as it is to date someone who has none.

I dated a bar girl for quite a time when I first arrived. Even though she was always polite when I brought her to certain functions, events, or dinners, there was always looks, scorn, and I was judged by the company I kept. Of course that is not at all what ended the relationship, but when it did end I decided that if I was going to have another Thai girlfriend then she would have to meet certain criteria. Taking physical attractiveness and compatibility as a given, not having worked as a bar girl was number one (I say bar girl as was well stated one can never know if a gal had sex for money at some point). Having a family that was financially secure and was not a parasite looking for a "host" farang was second. Being a Uni grad, Uni student, or running a biz was third. Forth, which is the only one I a really willing to give some leeway on is a gal "having a bit." House, condo, land, etc.

The criteria for dating are far different from the criteria for P4P. I find the two totally separate and in many ways almost polar opposites. In Asia having an amazing sex life with your chosen wife etc is not really as important as it is in the West. Both parties tend to knock around a bit. Don't ask, don't tell, and don't let it effect the relationship. I have no issues with that.

But you see from reading posts in many threads that many guys somehow feel obligated to give money and/or gifts to any woman whom they have had sex with. Maybe this is why the line appears blurred to some. They are blurring it their damn selves. I don't feel the need to pay a woman who is not a hooker. And you best believe I know the hookers from the non-hookers before it is time to get in bed with them.

I also don't understand why some guys want to add "semi-" in front of prostitute to make it seem like she is any less of a prostitute. Well she only does it on Tuesdays and Fridays so she is not a real hooker. MF I don't do carpentry on Saturdays and Sundays, but that does not make me a semi-carpenter. If you walk around with a girl who is not a hooker and acts and dress like this then you'll be judge the same way. Surely you know that not all SP are as you described. But I still don't get what the culture is doing for you or not doing base on who you date. They will judge you regardless of who you are with, the conventional wisdom falang + Thai = P4P in some from or the other. I have been to many of these functions and all they do is pass judgment on everyone. The judge the couple who is in an interracial relationship or the one with younger or older spouse or the one with the foreign spouse, they judge everyone. I will tell you even though you've been here longer than me that I know of many expats who are not only in relationships with former SP, they are married to them and I've never seen them being concern with the people passing judgment. Their happiness is more important to them. The fact that other people are uncomfortable because of a life style choice one makes is a poor reason to change to gain their approval, especially judgmental people. But I will not criticize you for living your life the way you do, I just won't live mine the same way you do.

Since Hualamphong is on the MRT line, it would probably be much easier to take the MRT to a better location and then bring your lady back to your hotel. Even if you don't like Nana, Soi Cowboy, etc. There are many more options nearby. For example, Sukhumwit Soi 22 has dozens of bars and massage shops with ladies who you could spend the night with.

that is the single best explanation as to why the situation has at least partly stabilized. Among other venues the soapy mega palaces north of the city were in jeopardy of going under, and the even the G clubs (though technically not *****houses) are in effect farm clubs generating new talent for rich Thais and Japanese businessmen to sponsor, and was no doubt being impacted. One high season gone, but with some luck at least a chance now to partly restore the economy in the next 6 to 9 months.
