Some days (usually weekends or holidays) the beaches can get packed to the point of no availability.

Yesterday afternoon, I had a disappointing experience at Massagem Tijuca. I arrived shortly after 3 pm. There was a lineup of 6 girls, most of which doable. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a barber who can cut beards and goatees? (Especially for black men). I have been here for almost 2 months and I can't find one decent barber to cut my goatee. I know that hear are relatively new to Brasil, so I can understand the lack of skill, but damn it's frustrating. I have been to 5 barbers since I arrived and each one fucked up my goatee!! What makes it worse is that I have a picture of my face after I saw my barber in the states as a reference for them to follow and they still couldn't cut correctly. I know when I get back to the states my barber is going to look at me like "WTF?

They seemed old and experienced and gave a good cut but I thought they were a bit classist / racist. Every time I went they told me the price first and asked if it was ok. May be I got that wrong and they were being transparent. I am Asian BTW. I have not used them for anything beard-related though and it has been a while since I was in Rio.

Red eye 1 am arrival, stayed at airport hotel, then swapped over to different Airbnb at decent normal hours.

Read reports and packed cash for possible spa / prive outing.

Met up with another ISGer. Swapped stories. Had itch for 4 x4 (or similar terma (s) so 4 x4 it was.

Payment is not collected at entry, given a wristband with barcode to ring up your drink / room tab. We both got a slight bit of sticker shock on current rates. Staff assured me they take cards if short on cash.

We sat down, both contemplated finishing drinks and switching to prive down street. But then the girls started chatting us up and yeah.

While my first seat mate was an absolute knockout, I wanted to see what other prospects were in the room.

Many of girls spoke decent English, I mixed some Spanish in to bridge.

I'm not sure about goate beards.

There is another place in one of the Leme comunidades. Three young guys that are very popular. They cut everything, even design art in the hair. Usually their locations is cool, but their barber shop is just in the no mans land between bandit area and police area.

Wondering what other active open termas besides 4 x4 are worth checking out. Running into outdated sources listing places no longer open.
