Do the nightclubs require you to have long pants? Is there any kind of dress code or can you wear shorts pretty much anywhere?
This is my 18 month survey of Rio and Brazil in answer to to Mr Smith and more generally for others. For starters, Brazil is below the equator, so July / August is winter in Rio. Meaning low 70's, so pretty mild.
The metro is your friend and I've enclosed a map. Whilst there are luxury buses from Barra and the touristy places, the traffic is bad. I like the subway for that reason, and because it is clean, cheap and frequent. The line you need is the yellow line (line 4) opened in 2016 running from Jardim Ocenico, So Conrado, Gvea, Antero de Quental, Jardim de Alah, Nossa Senhora the Paz / Siqueira Campos (Copacabana) from where you can connect to lines taking you into Centro where there are hundreds of brothels, clubs and so on.
The rundown is something like this. Barra (Jardim Ocenico) is a upper middle class wannabe place sort of like Miami but without the trash, split in half by a polluted lagoon. Make sure you are on the beach side. It tends to keep out the beggars and human flotsam. It features Club 400 (Av. Sernambetiba 400) aka the Yellow House, RJ Massagem and a ton of private girl apartments found on the usual websites like photoacompanhantes and muraldopraze. Plenty of beach accommodation. Pria Da Joatinga is a lovely spot with some cliffside places you could book direct for an extended stay. Don't feed the middlemen scumbags in Silicon Valley either your data or money.
The line heads east to Ipanema where all the malls and middle class comforts are. What you want an your tastes and budget come into play. I bought a somewhat run down villa and garden the hills in Joa that is pretty much jungle with great ocean views and a personal harem with live in caretakers/drivers/maids. I've mostly grown out of squalid tourist fuck hutches except for talent recruitment. There are hundreds of micro brothels in Centro in high rises, about BRL 100 - 150 an hour (as of today, 5. 16 USD or about USD 20-40). You can get express BJ's for as low as USD 10, but I like taking my time. A harder task is finding a real and skilled massage that is a great way to start the day, after a morning BJ or course.
Despite being a tourist trap, Copacabana has some surprisingly good upmarket restaurants, plenty of action, convenient brothels and a nice beach. Frankly I think the beach view thing is something you don't see after a few days, and with all the rooftop bars you can just visit and save your $. Don't overlook Niteroi on the other side of the harbor from Rio by ferry. Be sure to have a two girl experience every few days, one providing a testicle rub you while you fuck the other girl, lesbian eat out while you do one anally, two girl BJ, etc.
If its ocean, good seafood, surfing and sex you want, I'd suggest you head to Salvador, Bahia (plenty of girls) or Itacare with a weekly girl rental BYO arrangement. You can get a direct flight from Rio's downtown airport SDA (as opposed to GIG) to SSA. I'd also recommend Buzios some 130 miles east of Rio, and specifically Geriba Beach outside the touristy bit. It's a laid back place for the middle class families with lots of nice ocean front at a good price, or so close it does not matter. Not many girls though, so it's BYO. Food is not that good either, Buzios proper is a tourist trap.
PRACTICAL MATTERS
Get yourself a SIM when you get here and have them activate it. Buying bus tickets and so on online is a real pain unless you get a magic number from the government. I assume they do this to stop tourists spending money, or is the typical government cockamamie designed to surveil, frustrate and vex the population, though I suppose it is good underwriting tax receipts for the consumption of goods and services. Also, get a Charles Schwab and Capital One debit / ATM card. They rebate ATM fees and have a decent exchange rate with no foreign transaction rip-off fee. Be warned that Capital One latter randomly freezes accounts (for your protection they claim) when you go more than about 10 miles from your usual place. Then they might try and call you, and because you are necessarily outside of the USA, never hear from them, with the typical crushing lack of logic by fucked up retail banks and their trigger happy denial of YOUR money. This usually happens at 3 am when ordering an UBER or similar, such as paying a restaurant bill for friends.
The more card backup the better. Never trust US banks. Assume one or more cards will fail and involve hours of call center bullshit and the most canned insincere apologies and being told the massive inconvenience is all for your benefit. On the other hand, Citibank is pretty good if you get a premium package.
Rio is safe, just don't wear fancy watches or clothes or costly phones. By all means keep an credit card and say BRL 500 cash. Cards are taken in most places. Get yourself a cheap second hand phone for sex travel and never keep real data on it. Separate your life. That's good advice generally with apps, assume all smartphone data will be compromised be deliberate design. Rio has everything, black, brown, white, skinny, busty, young and experienced cougars, the choice is ridiculous. You can have a super busty black girl, a Grace Jones or a pale redhead and everything in between. When I used to travel I budgeted (per day) $200 for food and hotels and $100, so about $USD9 k for a month of total debauchery and fine dining. But you can at least chop that in two with not much effort.
You will have a lot of fun at first, but bring some work, reading material or something to learn or do (like languages), because after a few days you will be nutted out, or rather the brain reward center saturated. There is a limit to sexual pleasure because of biochemistry, probably an evolutionary thing so viable sperm can replenish between sessions. I'm not a tourist anymore, so the over compensation effects of USA sex prison deprivation have worn off. It's great watching guys eyes light up like little boys with awe and wonder at so much pussy, Disneyland for red blooded men and lusty Brazillian women, many of whom think anal is normal and most think CIM or an oily HJ is a human right for men, as it should be.
Healthcare is free (it's in the constitution), high quality teaching hospitals and meds are perhaps 90%+ cheaper than the US without any bullshit or gimmicks. Brazil is a real country. Good investments here as well, certainly better than many profit free, low ROI and / or debt ridden zombie companies in the USA. Organic food and farmers markets are also very accessible. All in all, Brazil has a lot going for it, such as water and an educated, cosmopolitan population.
There are direct flights to Europe across the Atlantic, such as to Frankfurt, Paris & Amsterdam. USA is typically via Miami, New York, Houston, Atlanta & Washington DC. Airlines are currently running full to capacity, so pick midweek, be sure to have your address prominently displayed INSIDE checked bags, bright ribbon, chalk mark etc on the outside and maybe a tracking tile for when (not if) they lose / delay your bag.
Lastly, have fun and enjoy beautiful, available, fun young women in their prime and leave behind the neurotic fat, entitled American heifers, jack booted cops, rip off health care, guns, homelessness and puritanical garbage. USA is a predatory society that is failing at even basic stuff, including its own Favelas in Los Angeles. Glen Greenwald, a good journalist, lives here, though he bats for the home team and misses out on beautiful women, but so long as he is happy, all is good. Merry Christmas everyone, my two girls will be in a Santa uniforms, but thigh highs below the waist and in stilettos, lot's of fun and games and poolside BBQ of seafood and some 12 hour fatty, organic brisket, organic salads and plush reds from Argentina. Look after the ladies, treat them well and and they give 10 x back in bed. My oh my!
P.S.: you need more vegetables, salad etc. One of the things Brazil tends to lack.
If its ocean, good seafood, surfing and sex you want, I'd suggest you head to Salvador, Bahia (plenty of girls).
I would love to read more about the way the game is played in Salvador. There are not a lot of detailed reports on Salvador and information is scant. For example, what's the overall availability of brancas in Salvador? For my next trip to Brazil I'm trying to decide between bringing either Salvador or Florianopolis into the mix (or perhaps even both). It would be best to move this discussion to the Salvador thread, but I brought it up here since you mentioned it. Feedback is welcome from all with any firsthand experience and insights to share.

I'm no newb at all, not even close. Maybe with rio I am, but I don't visit these places or use public transportation etc. I'd be using like barravip to come to me, SA and on occasion going to scoop one up late night in person -- but always prefer to bring them to my place. So I don't need any advice on that aspect. My only issue is that my research (and I know how to research well), is indicating clearly that the highest end condo rentals and hotels don't seem girl friendly at all. Any solution to this problem would be quite welcome? Thanks. I want to get a baller place in Rio like leblon or ipanema (copa if neccessary) that is girl friendly. That's it.
Long time viewer and first post, sorry. I'm looking to stay in Rio for about a month in July or August, and want a place where I can have different girls over all the time. I want something super nice, like a beachfront condo with a nice balcony in Ipanema or a suite in one of the nicest hotels. The issue is that the nicer hotels seem to have tons of security and it would seem either awkward or impossible to have girls over all the time, and I'm looking on Airbnb and lots of the nicer listings say "pre-registered guests only" and lots of stuff like that (even many reviews say no guests etc). My budget is up to $20 k I'd say for accommodation for the month, but I can't seem to find something super high-end where I can have different girls over all the time. Anyone have a solution for this in Rio? Other than that, Rio seems perfect for my mission.
I've used this guy many times before, no problem with guests. All these apartments are on Airbnb but I find them a little cheaper here on his website. https://www.mzapartments.com.br/en/. Also my type of mongering is similar to yours, I also like barra vip and bring up freelancers all the time with no problems or very few, sure there will always be issues but none showstoppers.
Places like the Hilton will usually turn a blind eye as long as you are discreet, though I stay away from big hotels with few exceptions. Boutique is the way to go. The places I stayed at were all clustered around Joa, such as the Cliffside lodge in Ponta the Joatinga. There are several great choices up in the hills of Rio away from the trashy beach front that gets boring. I suppose my perspective has changed since I got to know real families and the dinner party route, so I don't flout having girls around like some leering sex addict. Good manners, grooming, smiling and simple but neat clothes go a long way. It's like Asia, don't make people lose face, have some excuse, even a flimsy one, such as you and the girl are teaching each other language, even with a 40 year age gap.
Do not flout money, whether in public or around a girl, be discreet, especially when you know the wealth gap. If you have girls come to you, there are risks of being drugged or robbery or a pretend boyfriend showing up, this happens all over the world as you probably know. Using a high faulting escort agency does not change the calculus that much given the extreme gap in wealth. Keep in mind the girls are hugely vulnerable doing escorts (bashing, rape, robbery) and are full of fear with new clients they conceal . They prefer initial meetings in public, a large hotel or a love hotel where they know there is help around. This is another reason to scout the private houses, to break the ice so as to speak so they know you are OK. Then you get her number, arrange a peronite etc. Like all good things in life, it takes a bit of patience, time and effort, but when you have it, the girls that trust you (and are well treated) become wild things in bed.
My overall advice is to rid yourself of the belief that superficial symbols like private transport or costly ocean rooms or "exclusive" escort agencies can somehow create a bubble for yourself. The "exclusive" escort probably got a text from the agency when she was in a high rise commercial building servicing 5 guys a day and lives in poverty with her family in real life, with quite a few from the favelas. I'd do Rio but get to the coastal cities, sandy feet, salty kisses and happy, relaxed women feeling generous rather than reluctant captives of an agency or retail fuck hutch.
What are the fine prints of 90 days per visit and 180 days per year? If I had two 90 day stays in Brazil in 2022, do I get another two 90 day trips in 2023? I guess I am asking if the term "per year" means per calendar year?

Generally, if you do 90 and leave out of country for 30 days then you can come back and do another 90 and so on.
Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

If I remember correctly, if you stay more than 180 days in a year, you are blocked from returning for 1 year.

Does anyone know someone like this in Sao Paulo?
VISA rules. It all depends on your nationality. I. E most europeans tourists can stay for a period not exceeding 90 days. Maximum stay of 90 days every 180 days. (It has nothing to do with calendar years).
https://www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/assuntos/portal-consular/arquivos/arquivos-qgrv/qgrv-simples-ing-30sep22.pdf
Example: You stay in Brazil 3 months, Dezember-February. Then you can't return before June.
The way it was explained to me is its "180 days per year, NOT calendar year. Meaning it does not reset on January 1st to 0".
This is correct. It's 90 days every 180 days. If you are from certain countries, PF can prolong your one stay up to 180 days per (not calendar) year. If you are from EU, that's not possible.
So finally back in Rio. 😈 what's up during new year? Are any places open?
DM if any fellow mongers want to meet up.
