I think it is possible to distinguish between following one's heart and falling in love. The western culture (constantly reinforced by Hollywood) is to behave in a callous, calculating way and then to suddenly flip and fall head over heels stupidly in love. This gets us into trouble in our relationships with western women, never mind Thai women. One can follow one's heart without going loopy over a woman. When we only act with our heads we sense we are missing something we need and this leaves us vulnerable to going too far when we meet someone we like. I found it worked for me to follow my heart, not fall in love, not make any commitments, not think too much, have a terrific time.

Not sure if they fall in love. I think the verb get used to, fits better. Filipinas and Indonesian women have another upbringing. Thais have not a high pain tolerance. If a job sucks, or they don't like a place, or soemthing else makes more fun, than they just leave and do something esle, at least the usual bargirls. Not sure if high class women behave different.
