I found this confusing. You say you are "leery" of street-walkers, but in a single trip you chatted up six times as many as I have in nine years of visiits and then seven years living on the North Coast.
Certainly anyone who spends much time or money on street-walkers is likely to have a rotten time in Sosua. I have avoided them like the plague since my first trip.
This is not to say you cannot find gems walking in the street. I have had some of my best experiences that way. But I am not speaking of street-walkers. I am speaking of civilian girls going about their lawful business, to and from their place of work, shopping, etc. It is easy to tell the difference. The first eye-contact will tell you whether or not to continue the approach.
However you do need some Spanish for this. I am increasingly of the opinion that newbies without Spanish should not go to Sosua, but to Blackbeards. Sorry you had a bad time.
I'm still trying to understand the difference between picking up the girl on the street versus the girl in the club. Can you explain what is wrong with the girl on the street versus?
