Lots of cheap hotels
I am already racking my brain about where to go in August. I still haven't made it to Cali. WHY? The hotel thing still confuses me.
Can you find a decent hotel in Cali with AC for $40 or under and which part of town are those hotels located? Any website info would be greatly appreciated.
I have stayed in Aparthotel Del Rio, which is just down the street from Clinicica Dr Amor on the north side of the Rio Cali. It is just above your budget, although I suspect you could regotiate 80, 000 pesos a night for 3 weeks. And it has a pool and a gym. While walking around the neighborhood, I saw lots of hotels of slightly higher or much lower price. For example, Hotel Sartor: http://hotelsartor.com/rates.aspx . For 40, 000 pesos a night single. That is $20! And this is just a block from Avenida Sexta (the nightlive) and 3 easy blocks from Clinica Dr Amor, a very nice daytime brothel with girls for 35, 000 pesos and up. If you don't like this hotel, just stay one night and move to another one in the neighbohood. And this is in the northern more upscale part of Cali.

-zing
Great information thank you. Do you know if these hotels around sexta have AC or if it is NOT necessary in certain months? I am thinking about going in August. The sexta area (north) would be more interesting than the south in regards to walking around areas food and movies?
I have looked into apart hotel del Rio but prices are a little high for my length of stay. Otherwise yes it would be perfect for me.
If anyone has been to Cali in August I'd like to hear from you.
Thanks Again
* I just looked at the weather patterns for august 87 highs with 65 lows and a low amount of rainfall compared to other months like april/may (wettest)...?
I have been to Cali year round for months at a time. Rain never came into play as much as it does in Medellin. It would rain occasionally but then stop and that was that for the night. Then it wouldn't rain for the rest of the trip. It is hot and humid as fuck so you better have a room with AC. This guy Arthur has monger friendly apartments of all prices. I have spoken to him a few times and seems reasonable but has no idea who I am. LOL. www.calirentals.net p.s. I have heard mostly good things about the Del Rio but it lies on the avenida segundo which is good because its walking distance from Dr Love and Pharons but you have a lot of street noise. Maybe ask for a from towards the back?

I usually go to Lima or BA at that time but prices aren't in my favor at the moment. Quito is a no go due to altitude. If I had the choice I would do BA but that is a 6k month at the very least.

Looking at my passport I have been there Dec-Jan, Feb, May-June, Aug-Sept.

Don't forget the Naked Poolroom. I forget were it is at but it is a wild scene with some Gorditas, but there was a few not to bad (5) working at the time I was there. Of course it has been over two years since I visited the Poolroom so it may be gone by now.

Artisttyp,
Check Windsor Cali in Calle 16 / Avenida Cuarta. Around 80K with breakfast, AC, Wi-Fi. Two houses away from Caras Lindas. One block from the Sexta night life. And two blocks from Flores Frescas and near to Eventos Liz. Little far from Faraon and Dr. Love.

Excellent location close but not too close to La Sexta. Easy walking distance to any of the Avenida 2 area casas.

Thank you for your hotel recommendations. I have a while to look into them.
Many Thanks

Calle 17.
How much do you think they would quote me for a single? Any deals for extended stays?
I hate hotels that make you email them for prices.

Rates
Same as I posted for Bogota, the posted prices are for tourists.
Their real prices are cheaper.
And Your Spanish is Much Better Than Mine.
How Come You do Not Know That?
Are You Toooo Nice?
But of course I am just guessing.

WT69.
No you are too kind. You know I leave dribble on my listener's face.
I guess I should treat this as a "walk in" situation and see what they offer me. I will book a decent place for a few days then decide.
