Many of my friends came back slightly to very fucked up. On rare occasions they would open up and talk about what really happened over there. Horrible stories. I sure would have come back fucked up. It's terrible the way my country has treated our Vietnam veterans, and most veterans for that matter.

Any woman in the world can be, and if sourced them from the bottom (as Farang normally do) , plus a disillusioned reject (why is she going for Farang in the first place) is quite likely to be.
However, I disagree on Thais not being honest in general. They tend to be very pleasant in one-shot interactions (not just sex workers, but all over the place) , with no chance of repeat business. Except for occasional scum in tourist areas, Thais won't rip you off (not by much) even if you're careless and they won't see you again. Chinese or Vietnamese, almost everywhere, go for any advantage they can get.
Try it with a street food vendor by not asking the price. If a Thai overcharges you it will be in a somewhat shy way for up to 2x the normal price. A Vietnamese will stick you with a 5x price, very much get in your face if you complain.

You're entirely correct, they are testing you, and being firm helps... however, unlike you, I don't find this much fun. I'm paying for pleasure and relaxation, and find no pleasure in struggle for dominance and battle of the wills with a sex worker (I can do it when called for, but it ruins the mood). Definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

the place looks decently new inside but there was a horde of grandmas in every corner, seriously there was more grandmas than providers there and i mean 60+ age wise. the providers are young and cute though.

I just go for the cheapest one, but only use it for telephone and SMS service. You can get these at the airport. Sometimes you are even handed a SIM-card for free or you can go to one of the operator booths, buy it there and have it installed by one of those nice looking girls. Welcome to Thailand!

And to a large extent that con game is part of the business model made necessary by girls needing to cash-in while they are still young and attractive. The good news is once you discount the bullsh...t I'd say 9 out of 10 times you're left with a somewhat decent person.
